Watched it last night. Tis good, but disturbing. Gillian Anderson very good. Jamie Dornan scary. Anyone else see it?

Good call badblue on the indentation on the paper.

Agree that he was very sloppy. I think he was on his way out but her sitting on the loo gave him time to re-think things. Probably thought he was invincible.

badblueeyeliner · 03/06/2013 22:23

SoTired - I imagine any murder would be flagged up. Murders are pretty rare. And we don't know what happened after he ran back into the house...

And don't know if he bathed his wife

Yes, but she seems to be propping up the Belfast police force single-handedly.

SoTiredAgain · 03/06/2013 22:30

Well, he got stopped by locals didn't he and they were very suspicious of him. It caused all those problems at work for him. He should never have gone back there but hey, he's obviously a risk taker.

cerealqueen · 03/06/2013 22:30

Too much for me this week, recorded and watched it home alone, still shaking.

SoTiredAgain · 03/06/2013 22:32

alpinemeadow. I had a wild thought Olsen might have been killed by his wife. But that's daft.

wigglesrock · 03/06/2013 22:36

SoTiredAgain my husband thought the same.

ScrambledSmegs · 03/06/2013 22:36

I couldn't really watch it. Fingers in ears, looking down at computer screen.

He's an arrogant fucker, isn't he? When that disciplinary meeting was going on and he was parroting back his supervisor's words at him, I was sinking into the sofa going 'nooooooo'. It was the most perfect piece of self-sabotage, like he wanted to get fired or something.

I thought you saw Olsen take the photo and send it?

I don't know, I just think the other case that Olsen was involved in at the start is a bit of a red herring.

His wife could have had him killed for his money - pension, insurance. I think his partner killed himself in part because he suspected or knew.

SoTiredAgain · 03/06/2013 22:59

alpinemeadow hopefully we will get GA and JD interaction in the interview room.

And no, it definitely was Olsen who sent it because no one else knew and also, the beardy bloke talked about it today.

SoTiredAgain · 03/06/2013 23:01

Oh, I didn't mean it was actually her, more that it was somebody hired by her.

MeNeedShoes · 03/06/2013 23:03

I have a love hate thing with this programme. First couple of weeks it was painfully slow but it's picking up the pace a bit now.

christinarossetti · 03/06/2013 23:06

I'm normally a wimp, but I can't take The Fall seriously at all.

All that 'imagery' and juxtapositioning of scenes and themes is so cringey.

GA character is very good, though.

SoTiredAgain · 03/06/2013 23:13

I do think that the best thing about this show is the characterisation of the two main protagonists. Brilliant, both of them.

I loved him losing it in this episode. Most of his time was spent in damage control at work, you could see the desperation, and then it spilled into damage control in his attack.

I hope not alpine. The pathologist just happens to know someone who got strangled who turns out to be the same guy? Too pat. Too net. Too naff.

I was hoping that it was because they wanted to get into the psychology of Why he strangles them. Or maybe the writer just likes to describe all the gruesome ways that women are treated.

The cat thing was weird too. Said that they were evil. Didn't his family get a cat?

SoTiredAgain · 03/06/2013 23:21

*too neat

You know the deserted building near his in-laws - the one he put the mannequin in, I thought he was going to use it to keep a woman in so he had more time. Although there wouldn't be the facility for him to bathe them. I don't know I just think it might play a part next week. I'd stay away from farmhouses GA.

I think he is "Peter", it's usually just luck and coincidence that a link is found in murder cases - says the person who thought "oh yum I like him" when Olsen showed up - I'm the kiss of death to characters in shows like this Smile

Not to mention how my love of John Lynch was ridiculed. He'll turn out all right - you'll see Hmm

wigglesrock · 03/06/2013 23:30

Great minds alpinemeadow Smile

hollyisalovelyname · 03/06/2013 23:38

Isn't the ending supposed to be a cliff hanger. I hate them! Then we'll have to wait for series 2. Like the american 'The Killing'
Anyone else think it is better than Broadchurch ?

OP posts:
wannabedomesticgoddess · 03/06/2013 23:40

Peter and Paul. The two dickie birds. He picks up a girl and tells her hes Peter. Actually hes Paul.

I agree its too neat. But then, they are actually no further on really.

LauraPashley · 03/06/2013 23:43

I thought that too, "one named Peter and one named Paul"! There is surely too much hanging for them to wrap it all up in just one episode?!
