Watched it last night. Tis good, but disturbing. Gillian Anderson very good. Jamie Dornan scary. Anyone else see it?

Did he also take Annie's driving licence?

gazzalw · 28/05/2013 18:38

Didn't he get hold of Annie's driving licence when he was out with his wife and their friends and he picked up her purse at the bar...? Back in episode one - I thought it was Sarah's purse but think I've been corrected!

horseonabeach · 28/05/2013 18:38

Yes from the pub when he knocked her purse on to the floor.

wintera · 28/05/2013 18:43

Yes the girl in the bar was Annie. He was setting her up to be his next victim even before he killed Sarah. I suppose he has to be more subtle now that the murders have been linked and the police know its a serial killer. If he was more obvious then Annie would call the police and report a strange break in and then the police would know who the next victim is set to be.

I think the problem with any drama with lots of characters is that it takes a couple of weeks to get one's head round everyone - it was the same with Broadchurch.

I guess they are supposed to look very similar to fit his 'type!

hollyisalovelyname · 28/05/2013 18:54

Yesnutnobut I agree as a menacing character Jamie is brilliant but in the family scenes he doesn't ring true. Missed the Jewish bit. GA such a cold fish. Just like Jamie. Agree with Guineapiglet - i hate the thought of a cliff hangar ending and a second series. The U. S. - The Killing- was awful because of it.

Have any of you been on digital spy at all? Most of them have no bleedin clue what's going on because they watch the show whilst typing on the digital spy forum so they keep missing loads of plot points! Makes for very annoying reading.

However I've just read on there that Us netflix is already showing eps four and five before anywhere else!

yesbutnobut · 28/05/2013 19:03

I haven't had the 'can't bear to wait a week before the next episode' feeling since Homeland finished!

wannabedomesticgoddess · 28/05/2013 19:05

Ah thats interesting about the quote.

Kind of ties in with what gazzalw was saying about the law. They fall on to different sides.

I hope theres not a religious aspect tbh. N.Ireland has enough to do with religion already. Can we not just be people, doing things because we are human?

wigglesrock · 28/05/2013 19:17

wannabedomesticgodess I feel the same, I will be really fucked off if there's some religious aspect. You can see they've tried hard to avoid any connotations so far, it would be such a disappointment if they went down that road but I don't think they will.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 28/05/2013 19:22

Its creeping in. This episode had the officer suggesting a religious connection in the washing of the bodies, and the lady who has the baby in SCBU was praying with a priest and rosary beads.

wintera · 28/05/2013 21:07

The washing/communion thing will be a false hunch though if Spektor is indeed Jewish. And the Mum in the SCBU ward looked like she wasn't happy that the priest was there to be honest.

Mummalish · 28/05/2013 21:32

The Fall comes from a verse he wrote in his diary.

insicknessandinhealth · 29/05/2013 07:06

Can't say I was disappointed being woken up early by the puppy this morning - immediate thought was hooray, I get to catch up on The Fall before DS wakes up!! Really thought when he was out with his daughter he was scoping out that slope and thinking of pushing her down it and making it look like an accident! That necklace is so distinctive they are bound to make the connection esp the grandmother commenting on it like that - ironic that she actually said she might strangle herself, love how this series cleverly drops in little connections like that. Often think that about good detectives there is something of the psychopath about them, how intently they have to focus in on the crimes and how devoted they are and emotionless. Think the proximity of the scene to his patient if that is what you call it and being warned off makes it even more of an exciting challenge for him doesn't it? So glad this has been given a second series. And thanks to whoever pointed out the naked woman the daughter had seen was the mannequin, how would she have seen it? Was that what he was getting out when she woke up? If the mum goes up into the loft to check even if that is missing she will find the sketchbook surely.

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 29/05/2013 09:27

I agree that the Northern Ireland-so-we-must-have-religion thing is a bit annoying. It hasn't just crept in; as well as the rosary in the baby ward and the washing of the bodies, the guy who Spektor is counselling commented on his Jewish name and background, and that was an early episode (first one I think).

On the priest in the ward, I thought the nurse was looking sad that the baby was clearly going to die, rather than unhappy about the priest being there.

OctopusPete8 · 29/05/2013 10:28

I just started on this yesterday, I am actually surprised the sexual violence isn't more graphic, wire in the blood was always worse etc,
the scene I found creepy was open dead eyes in the bath tub shudder,

But yeah the killer being a family man etc, very good and how all the victims are dark and sort of 'exotic' looking and his wife is blonde and looks a a very sweet girl next door.

gazzalw · 29/05/2013 13:04

I'm wondering whether, now that his crimes have been linked, he will have to change his M.O. at all? It didn't really look like it from him being in Annie's house (although clues a lot more subtle) but it's possible isn't it....

waikikamookau · 29/05/2013 13:20

the daughter might take the mum to the scarey house, he was horrible going in there and leaving his daughter outside.
GA very cold about that policeman

bootsycollins · 29/05/2013 13:30

I've only just discovered the Fall yesterday and I'm totally up to date, watched back to back. I actually felt sick it was that good. I'm now nursing a massive girl crush on Gillian Anderson Blush, she's nailed the cut glass accent. I'm loving how tight knit and entwined the plot is.

wintera · 29/05/2013 16:15

Oh sorry I didn't mean spektor's wife when I said the mum didn't look happy in the baby ward. I meant the mum of the baby, she seemed to be unhappy about the words she was reading out in the prayer.

giggly · 29/05/2013 17:35

Oh I thought it was a thread about the best band in the world Confused
