Have started a new thread as the old one won't accept my message. So I'll repost it here:

Fuzz has form for being beyond thick. Remember the whole stape thing? Her character is just incredibly stupid. You'd think she would learn her lesson. Running away 'on a fishing boat' with £200 is like a story from a 16th century novel.

Re the abduction I think they were wrong. Lots of mums keeps kids from fathers for all manner of selfish reasons and abduction is not the answer. However I do think ty was desperate. But why won't he just let the court decide ffs. He's got loads of evidence. I'm getting to the point in this story where I'm actually ready to punch him myself! In fact have felt a tiny bit sorry for k when they stole ruby. Surely the writers can't have intended for this to happen? God knows. Im away next week so hopefully I'll miss the stupid court stuff and be back for some proper corrie storylines.

No but don't tell me, I hate spoilers!

Have got that bloody Cameo song as an ear worm now, thanks wordup Grin

PaintedBottom · 23/04/2013 23:56

Where did that random fireplace appear from behind Ches in their living room? I thought all the Corrie houses have just three walls in each room....

WordUpG · 24/04/2013 09:15

Jilted :o Love this name. Might keep it.

ProfYaffle · 24/04/2013 09:18

Didn't Ivy Tilsley have that fireplace done? Funny the trivia my Corrie brain holds onto while allowing me to totally forget Gary Windass menacing Tina's Dad Blush

BastardDog · 24/04/2013 09:20

I want a Mary. Especially "the casserole is in the oven" bit.

Ellenora5 · 24/04/2013 09:50

I like Mary, bet she falls for dev, (that's a picture I'm never getting out of my head)
I think Chesney needs a kick in the arse, did he really think himself and Katy would play happy families for ever.
What is the point of MichelleConfused

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 24/04/2013 09:52

When Mary had the kids sorted, homework finished and a casserole in the oven, all I could think of was Mrs Doubtfire!

ajandjjmum · 24/04/2013 10:44

You're right Chocs - brilliant!

angelos02 · 24/04/2013 11:58

I loved Mary's line 'I'm just off to freshen up my resume'. Delivered brilliantly. I know it was last week but I've just remembered it.

Bakingnovice · 24/04/2013 21:44

Has anyone else noticed how big all the houses have become? Anna's kitchen is now huge, as if fizzs and Eileen's house has doubled in size. I don't like it. I miss the old boxed in terracey feel of corrie.

OP posts:
ChocsAwayInMyGob · 24/04/2013 22:19

What I can't believe is Katy's reason for not getting back with Chesney. She complains he won't trust her! But she cheated on him, kept all Ryan's texts, and was still getting texts from him in the middle of talking to Chesney about getting back together. But apparently it's Chesney's fault for not trusting her enough?

If Chesney ever comes on Mumsnet we'd all be saying LTB!

thenightsky · 24/04/2013 22:35

I thought she hadn't cheated with Ryan at all.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 24/04/2013 22:47

It depends if you count cheating as shagging. She lied about going on dates with him and snogged his face off loads of times. I'd call that cheating!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 24/04/2013 23:23

I'd call it cheating. Bored, bored, bored of it at the moment.

Peter and Leanne - who cares.
Ches and Katy - who cares.
Tina and Gary - who cares.

Dev and Mary - just no!

MurielTheActor · 25/04/2013 11:57

Not sure it's a Dev AND Mary storyline. I think it's just a Mary storyline IYSWIM Hmm

VoiceofUnreason · 25/04/2013 13:24

Corrie is rubbish right now. I find this whenever the focus of storylines is almost exclusively on the younger characters, I get bored. When Corrie is at its best, it mixes the generations.

I enjoyed the Gail/Lewis/Kylie/Nick/Audrey stuff because it was cross-generational. And both Nigel Havers and Sue Nicholls were fab. The Kirsty/Tyrone was OK. But I'm afraid I haven't warmed to Stella and any storyline involving her leaves me cold.

Last night's sole glimmers of entertainment were Mary and Steve.

Am pleased Tina is going, gutted Hayley is going, hope Faye will disappear off with her waster of a father, wish that Chesney, Katie, Ryan and Michelle would clear off and think what we need now are some decent storylines - not necessarily major ones but decent ones - involving the likes of Norris, Rita, Sylvia and Emily.

Speaking of which..... where IS Emily.....?????

Bakingnovice · 25/04/2013 14:19

I hated cindy when she started. Loathed her as Stella. Then I kind of warmed to her a bit, but still didn't like her. But now that she's st Ella I can't bloody stand her! Wishing everyone well all the time, worried about everyone, nice to everyone. It's unrealistic and farking ridiculous. Get gone.

OP posts:
ProfYaffle · 25/04/2013 14:23

I think Emily's rather overworked babysitting every child in the street when it becomes an inconvenience to the parent's social life!

sensesworkingovertime · 25/04/2013 19:32

If scriptwriters are going to pair up Mary and Dev (personally I would find Emily dating Ryan more believeable!!!!!) but IF they are then I wish they would wait for ages, I mean this supernanny storyline is brilliant they should make the most out of it. It is so amusing it is the first time Mary has not annoyed the heck out of me, usually I can't stand her.

Chesney and Katie, did I miss something? When did poor Chesney become the one in the wrong? Every time he steps outside he sees them talking whilst she is trying to convince him she is having nowt to do with the waste of space.

Don't even get me started on Eileen, are we supposed to feel sorry for her? She has just got engaged to the man of her dreams, he's devoted to her, he has a good job, one of his best mates dies......she dumps him and all you hear from Jason is ' poor mam blah blah blah'
Give me strength Angry

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/04/2013 20:23

Did Eileen dump Paul the Fireman?
I saw him pack his bags because he's moving into my house but I thought it was him leaving.

She's off to Egypt with her sister.

Viviennemary · 25/04/2013 20:57

I wish they'd get rid of Stella, her mother and daughter. They are all awful. Mary is a good eccentric character. The Eileen Paul thing is just so unbelievable. Very weak. Don't think Mary/Dev somehow. Couldn't he have a fling with Deirdre again. I think he did once. I liked Audrey's cross-dressing boyfriend. He just disappeared.

HeavenlyYoni · 25/04/2013 23:43

The fireman fucked off because Eileen got a bit precious about his job, being dangerous and all that...boring!

qazxc · 26/04/2013 11:07

God i cannot stand Faye, does that child have any redeeming features? I don't know why but i can't help the feeling that her dad might be a paedophile, something about the way he looks at her sometimes. that this might be the grooming phase until his true nature comes to the surface.

Bakingnovice · 26/04/2013 11:51

Some really really poor writing at the moment including the adoption story, the Eileen story, Karl st Ella story, Tina Gary. Endless list. Where's Audrey? Emily? Gail? The factory? All we see is Stella's family and the bistro with a bit of bad dev acting thrown in. It's shit.

OP posts:
VoiceofUnreason · 26/04/2013 12:37

I know people always go on about Jimi (Dev) being a bad actor, but actually, I quite enjoy him a lot of the time. At least there's some character traits there. A bit like Simon Gregson, who does silly things with Steve - assorted gurns and occasionally saying things in a silly voice. Because, actually, real people do those sorts of things.

I'd much rather keep Dev than some of the others that get thrust down our throats far too much - even though they may be better actors, technically, they have been given dull characters.

Once upon a time, Corrie could make established characters do things that on first sight appeared out of character but weren't as the story progressed, or because they related to long established back stories, or because they were just very well written and very well acted. It could be serious stuff or comedy stuff. Things like Emily going up the tree with Spider. The rivalry between Audrey and Betty over being Alf's mayoress. I think because those stories were all character driven. Nowadays, it's sensation or story driven, and I think it needs to go back the other way.

God, I need a life. Am sat here dissecting Corrie FFS. Get rid of half the younger ones, give more to the older ones who know how to play a scene and get back to character stuff. It's ALL downbeat right now. Leave EastEnders to do the downbeat stuff.
