Have started a new thread as the old one won't accept my message. So I'll repost it here:

Fuzz has form for being beyond thick. Remember the whole stape thing? Her character is just incredibly stupid. You'd think she would learn her lesson. Running away 'on a fishing boat' with £200 is like a story from a 16th century novel.

Re the abduction I think they were wrong. Lots of mums keeps kids from fathers for all manner of selfish reasons and abduction is not the answer. However I do think ty was desperate. But why won't he just let the court decide ffs. He's got loads of evidence. I'm getting to the point in this story where I'm actually ready to punch him myself! In fact have felt a tiny bit sorry for k when they stole ruby. Surely the writers can't have intended for this to happen? God knows. Im away next week so hopefully I'll miss the stupid court stuff and be back for some proper corrie storylines.

Ooh what's thingybob doing in that picture? I thought he'd finished that particular job!

whatkungfuthat · 18/04/2013 19:21

Is that the new Rovers do you think?

Lilka · 18/04/2013 19:27

Chocs

Open adoption (with contact) is the norm nowadays. There are no laws at all prohibiting contact with an under 18. The excpetion would be if a judge made a no contact order for a specific child but that isn't very common.

Most adoptive children nowadays come to their adoptive parents with a plan in place made by social services for contact (SS agree contact plans with the judge before hunting out adoptive parents) - usually one or two letters a year which depending on age either the parents write maybe with childs input, or an older child may write themselves. However it may be actual visits, again up to 2 a year usually if visits are planned. Siblings often visit.

And added to that since FaceBook, there is unregulated (by SS) contact as well. My own teen DD2 (who is adopted and has special needs) is currently in nearly daily facebook contact with her birth mum and they meet frequently. Actually this is not good at all in our situation, the whole situation is a horrid chaotic mess, but there's nothing to be done, because they have every right to be in contact. SS have washed their hands

Now I watch a bit of Corrie myself and the whole Faye adoption storyline is total bollocks!! It's so unrealistic it's laughable, but hey ho, soaps are soaps. Just don't believe it's realistic haha!!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/04/2013 19:51

Is Joe Duttine the son of John Duttine? I used to rather like him back in the early 80s, which shows how old I am.

Fay has always looked far too old to be at primary school, even when she first started, not a great bit of casting there.

I am feeling sorry for the actress that plays Eileen, she used to be a brilliant character and the Paul storylines have ruined her. It was lovely when they first met, but the whole wife with Alzheimers and ongoing complications were dreadful and now there isn't really any sensible way forward.

LeeCoakley · 18/04/2013 20:02

Hmm maybe Paul has renewed his contract....
Normally I like Paul and Eileen but last night his lips looked revolting all big and red and wet and it made me feel slighty queasy. So I would prefer him to go as I am normally eating my evening meal about this time.
I never thought I'd say it but I'm missing Gail and family. I've just thought of another criminal 'getting away with it' and that's Lewis. Gail should get her money back from him so the ridiculous storyline of her house can be forgotten.
I couldn't think where the Mary/job story was going but, yes, it could be as the nanny. In Corrie you need no qualifications/experience to be able to walk into a job so it's her's for the taking.

ChocsAwayInMyGob · 18/04/2013 20:10

Lilka, thank you for clarifying. I'm so sorry for your situation. Hope things improve for you and your DD.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/04/2013 20:20

Mary might be the one person who can't get a proper grip on Faye, thinking about it, remember when she babysat for her a few months ago?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/04/2013 20:21

Can not can't

ClartyCarol · 18/04/2013 20:44

Whatkungfuthat - thanks but sorry, I don't get it: the picture showed Carl, Michelle and Lloyd. Was it controversial because it looked like they were in the refurbished Rovers?

I think Joe Duttine is the nephew of John D, whoknows

whatkungfuthat · 18/04/2013 20:55

Paul is sitting in the corner at the back of the pic

ClartyCarol · 18/04/2013 21:44

Aha, I see. Thank you. Looking at it on my phone so wasn't really looking at the background on such a small screen.

Oh God, does this mean we've got more they're off, they're on, they're off, they're on, they're o...dramas to come?!

thenightsky · 18/04/2013 22:00

WhoKnows Excellent idea of Mary taking Faye in hand with some old fashioned discipline!

Monty27 · 18/04/2013 23:19

Candodad oops had a sense of humour transplant then Grin

Corrie is largely grim at the minute though.

Bakingnovice · 19/04/2013 08:53

I miss Gail too. Her craziness. I also wish there was more Steve, Roy, Sylvia Norris etc. corrie is soo bad right now.

Lighthousekeeping · 19/04/2013 16:41

It's dire. I literally watch the first five minutes and then delete. Rubbish unrealistic storylines that are just going to drag on. Surely Gary isn't going to do the dirty on Izzy? I would hate that. Why can't some of these young people work in a bank or for the government etc? A bright spark like Katy would never have ended up with a former druggie who works in a kebab shop. It really gets on my nerves. She should be getting ready to do her A levels now.

MrsSalvoMontalbano · 19/04/2013 17:41

Completely agree is dire at teh moment Sad Am not even watching the prog, just watching this thread to see when it is worth watching again Grin

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/04/2013 20:51

Can anybody tell me why Faye is going to live with her Dad without a social worker in sight?

Crutchlow35 · 19/04/2013 21:11

Because Anna thinks she has had everything put in place for her during her tough childhood. This is one thing she wants so Anna agrees. It doesn't last long by all accounts

MrsTomHardy · 19/04/2013 21:11

It's a tad better than Eastenders lately tho

bunchamunchycrunchycarrots · 19/04/2013 21:33

You would think in all the palaver with Faye the fact that Owen did hit her might have come up at some point. Makes the storyline even more ridiculous IMO.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 19/04/2013 21:41

DS, you would think the Owen thing might have come up....

Ellenora5 · 19/04/2013 22:59

Was just thinking that myself about Owen, sure he gave her a right wallop and got away with it, also would the social workers not have had a say in Owen moving in with Anna and Faye and he would not have been interviewed/assessed by them to make sure he was a suitable person for Faye to be around.....or should I just remember this is soaplandGrin

ClartyCarol · 20/04/2013 00:54

Tina looks different somehow - she's starting to look a bit Katie Price-esque, kind of puffy in the face with fake looking teeth.

My God though, how stunning is Katy? Surely a young woman looking like that would have every man and boy she met swooning at her feet every time she set foot outside the house. No disrespect to Chesney, but has there ever been a more mismatched couple in the history of coupledom??

Sleepyfergus · 20/04/2013 08:32

Clarty - agree re Tina. I thought she was looking a bit different but you're right, she is a bit Katie Price-esque. Detesting the 'Gary getting closer to her' story line. He makes my skin crawl....

And yy to Katy being stunning. She's proper gorgeous compared to Tina Tango glamorous (in RL, not in Corrie currently). Still not sure why the purpose of this storyline is, other than Chesney perhaps spiralling towards an alcohol problem.

Hate, hate Faye and her crappy dad. Felt sorry for Anna last night.

Crap story lines aside, I think we're going to get some comedy gold with Mary Poppins. Did you cop her humming 'A Spoonful of Sugar' last night?!

BastardDog · 20/04/2013 08:35

I thought Tina looked like an Afghan Hound last night.
