Following on from all the chat about the Thorn Birds on the fancying priests thread in AIBU, I was thinking about all those corny dramas from my youth.

Like Secret Army Me and my mum used to try and remember the order of the roads, canals and railways each week.

Or Tenko. One of the few programmes of the 70s or 80s to pass the Bechdel test.

I used to love Sapphire and Steel, with Joanna Lumley and David McCallum, although it was very scary at the time. I was about 7 I think. Also used to love the Flambards and Nanny. I used to really love The Fall Guy too on a Friday night (Colt Seavers). We used to play it at school in the play ground. Loved Shine on Harvey Moon and Wish me Luck too.

Capital City late 80s soap/drama about bankers with lots of people who turn up in TV shows these days, most notably Jason Isaacs, AKA Lucius Malfoy in Harry Potter.

Loads of others mostly already mentioned. I remember cutting A level English on Friday afternoon to go home to watch Sons & Daughter. Loved Prisoner Cell Block H when at uni.

Maybe someone should start a so bad they're good adverts thread..

Lovecat · 26/01/2013 21:41

Anyone mentioned The Mallens yet? That was godawful, all I remember about it is The Mallen Streak in their hair...

Loved Blakes7, watched it again recently and it is soooo bad! I used to lust after Paul Darrow as a 12 year old and seeing it as an adult I am Blush - he was such a queeny old ham!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/01/2013 21:43

AlreadyScone was it The Sullivans?

My mum used to watch this and I'm sure their was the photo.
Set in War-Time in Australia?

LadyBeagleEyes · 26/01/2013 21:47

Capital City was the perfect Thatcherite series of the time, wasn't it?
All about wealthy investment bankers, money and greed(yuk)
I'd love to see it repeated today, it would get a hammering.
It's amazing how times change so quickly.

ihategeorgeosborne · 26/01/2013 22:07

Does anyone remember The Bretts, set in 1920s London? It was about about a family of actors and all their shenanigans. I thought it was great.

Bowednotbroken · 26/01/2013 22:10

Anyone remember Doomwatch - the very. Young and gorgeous Robert Powell!

moggiek · 26/01/2013 22:16

Has anyone mentioned The Flashing Blade? "You've got to fight for what you want, and all that you believe ...". I loved that programme!

moggiek · 26/01/2013 22:20

and the Singing Ringing Tree? Absolutely terrifying! The bear! The dwarf!

moggiek · 26/01/2013 22:24

White Horses .....

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/01/2013 22:26

About childrens programmes rather than so bad they're good progs

But I reckon alot of overlaps)

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/01/2013 22:40

WRT to White Horses

Minor Stealth Boast Claim to Fame:
Years ago I went on holiday (Romania/Bulgaria/Istambul )
In one of those countries (it was 1973 so I can't remember exactly Blush )
I went to a stables where they said they filmed White Horses. I rode some of them (but don't know if they were the TV horses)

^On White Horse, snowy white horses,
Let me fly a----way^

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/01/2013 22:51

I definately didn't go to Poland.

Lying turds Shock

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/01/2013 23:28

Anyone remember Diana with a young Patsy Kensit?
She called the hero an oik Grin

CaptainNancy · 26/01/2013 23:50

Oooh- this may be the thread to ask-

Does anybody know what this is...

The End Credits were a still of some celtic crosses, with the sky sort of red (filter over the shot I guess) and haunting music. I wasn't allowed to watch it ("Unsuitable [cat's bum face]) but it was on before something I did watch (so either Dr Who or The Muppets) which places it around winter 1977/78.

It's definitely isn't Children of the Stones.

Anyone, please????

BestIsWest · 26/01/2013 23:55

70 that sounds like Lipica in Slovenia for the white horses. It would have been Yogoslavia then

BestIsWest · 26/01/2013 23:57

Yugoslavia sorry

Acandlelitshadow · 27/01/2013 11:52

We went to see the horses in Lipica in Yugoslavia in the 80's. Dressage with the nags ponced up in hats as I recall Hmm

Have we mentioned The Waltons yet? Pure 70's smaltz but soooo watchable.

Dr Quinn Medicine Woman. My mum loved that. Me not so much Grin

theoriginalandbestrookie · 27/01/2013 11:54

SirSugar · 27/01/2013 12:09

I trekked across Vienna for an hour when I was 18 to see the Lippizaners when I was 17 and had a horse mad friend.
We got there after getting lost a hundred times only to be refused entry because they had flu. Sad

MorrisZapp · 27/01/2013 13:25

I was going to say Seven Little Australians!

Tales of the Unexpected

Tutti Frutti

Scally? About a loveable rogue in Liverpool I think

Northern Exposure

Children of Fire Mountain

Gods Wonderful Railway

The Strange Affair of Adelaide Harris
