Just starting a new thread before tonight's elimination, as I'm sure we'll all have something to say about that.

OP posts:
awaynboilyurheid · 18/11/2012 20:25

At last sailorsgal someone else who like me can see right through the talentless zone that is Kylie, even girls allowed shouting their new song looked talented next to her Wink

Mrsjay · 18/11/2012 20:27

personalities make a big difference.

yes It does make a difference if people are enjoying it then they will vote, although Nicky westlife must have loads and loads of fans

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/11/2012 20:28

I was wondering if Kylie had to be carried off the stage by the corset men because she didn't look as though she could walk in those shoes.

DilysPrice · 18/11/2012 20:29

I submit to back me up - the four people who have most over-performed in the public vote: John Sargeant, Anne Widdicombe, Russell Grant and Nancy del Olio. I didn't watch Series one though, so I don't know whether Christopher Parker was a charmless nerk coasting on his soap fame or whether people voted for him because he was entertaining on the show.

And if you look at the winners, pretty much all of them were C list before the show, and far from the least popular and famous of their cohort before it started. (the cricketers were famous if you follow cricket but there's a very limited overlap between the fanbases).

LetUsPrey · 18/11/2012 20:31

Louis Smith - get your act together sharpish. Flavia is totally amazing and deserves to win.

Frankel - I luffs you, you know! Your dancing talk is always easy to follow Smile

ScatterChasse · 18/11/2012 20:37

I think you're right Dilys. I think it might make a bit of a difference in the first couple of weeks (or goodness knows how Nicky got through, nobody really thought his first two dances were good did they?!) but after that, nope. It's how they come across on the show.

Minimammoth · 18/11/2012 20:43

The judges have been using lots more classical dance terms since Darcy joined the panel. Is it to help her to 'gel' do you think? She obviously needs some time with FrankelGrin

PuffPants · 18/11/2012 20:49

How did Claudia get from David Mitchell and Victoria Coren's wedding yesterday afternoon to Wembley? She was a bridesmaid wasn't she? She must have had to leave straight after the service!

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 18/11/2012 20:56

Aww thanks chaps and chapesses Grin Grin

I get all my terminology from my dance teacher, she's great at breaking things down and using visualisation to get you to do the right thing.

WrathdePan · 18/11/2012 20:58

Err...we'll have none of that Frankel - it's a family thread.

Smile
DilysPrice · 18/11/2012 21:01

Wedding was in North London, so very do-able to Wembley, last night's show finished at 8pm - presumably results show started immediately afterwards.

PuffPants · 18/11/2012 21:31

Yes but she can't just turn up at 8 can she? She's surely have to be there at least a couple if hours before if they were making an exception - more like 4/5 hrs ahead on a normal week. I can't see how she could have stayed at the wedding beyond 5pm. And in the photos it's clearly going dark when they come out of the church so 4.30ish.

She must have literally done her duties at the service then fled!

LetUsPrey · 18/11/2012 21:56

She's just helping me with my dance steps Pan. Not sure how much of it applies to tap TBH but I take it all on board.

Wink at Frankel.

Going to watch results show. Expect to whizz through much of it.

confuddledDOTcom · 19/11/2012 00:23

Must watch the results show, we turned over after they announced that it was Richard, which we'd already worked out before the show!

Dilys, I've always said similar. I think voters also vote for a laugh, if they see that it winds the panel up (of any show) that a particular act is still going through they will keep voting them in. I think "I'd Do Anything" that sort of voting really backfired and ALW was obviously furious! I'm not an X-Factor watcher but did follow the whole Jedward and whatever the guy is called this year thing, people vote to wind up the panel because the panel's reaction is entertaining. As far as that show is concerned they should only be putting people forward from boot camp who has a voice suitable for radio, fireworks are useful on a Christmas #1!

Darcy was winding me up early on, her patronising "Yeah. Yes?" made me want to hit her! At least you know the advice she is giving comes from professional experience as a dancer not as a singer who won the show once! Anyone else noticed we now seem to have two groups? Darcy tends to score low with Craig (unless he's in a mean mood) whilst Len and Bruno always seem to score the the same.

confuddledDOTcom · 19/11/2012 01:01

Oh and is it me or does Claudia always look like she's doing Debra Stephenson doing Claudia?

Biscuitsandtea · 19/11/2012 07:11

Wow! Claudia was actually wearing a nice dress. Please do the same again next week you never know she might be a MNer. And her fringe looked better too. This wedding must have been a good thing! Smile.

And DVO. Well, you managed to thank James and then say 'I was told I had to say that' Hmm. Seriously love, everyone else actually (rightly) genuinely thinks they have something to thank their partner for apart from Nicky who thinks he does it all himself. And they do! You might think you're all that, but I bet James works his arse off to choreograph and teach you the routines. And I have never heard her thank him or make any mention of him other than in a joke-derogatory way. I think someone else mentioned when James hurt his foot and not once did we see her show any concern. Now of course maybe she did off camera but she looked thoroughly unbothered when we did see the medic looking at it.

I'm not trying to dislike her but she is making it hard not to Hmm

LittleAbruzzenBear · 19/11/2012 07:27

Still dislike DvO, but she keeps getting the votes. Would love to see her in the bottom two next week just to see her face.

Flavia's hair is perfect. Flavia is perfect.

Claudia's hair and dress was better, but love her so she could wear a bin bag. Tess def better again with her yesterday. She looks happier than when BF is in.

I want Dani and Vincent to win, but if I hear bloody Darcey condescendingly calling them munchkins again. Angry. How would she like it if someone called her man-lady or giant for being tall. Nobody's height, whether tall or short, should be commented on! She doesn't call Lisa fat so....

Biscuitsandtea · 19/11/2012 07:31

Cheryl's hair looked like I had done it for her. Do you think she perhaps turned up late and didn't have time to do it?

DilysPrice · 19/11/2012 08:18

Biscuits I hold little brief for DVO (and would be staggered if her vote will sustain her if she slips off the top of the leader board now the dead wood has gone) but her sniping at James is definitely "banter" and pre-agreed with him. I'm sure she'll do a massive sincere speech of grovelling thanks when the time comes - possibly involving what a miracle it is that he's taught clumsy little old her how to dance Hmm.

Biscuitsandtea · 19/11/2012 08:41

Oh I'm sure it is all banter and I can see that they have that sort of jokey relationship but all that aside I think it is just plain manners to thank your professional partner at some point. They have plenty of opportunities between talking to the judges and Tess and ITT. Nicky could learn from this too. In the first few weeks when they slated Karen's choreography I wondered if he didn't say anything about her because he blamed her a bit but her choreo is fine now?

ppeatfruit · 19/11/2012 08:43

Thanks for the info about the choreos. scatterchasse Well last night's was interesting:-

BUT WTF were the BEEB thinking about with that vile Kylie S&M show? And her shoesShock!!!!!! It's a teatime show Shock !!!!!

Girls Aloud lived up to their name LOUD LOUD and not much else.

I reckon Richard looked relieved to go as did Erin Grin She wasn't crying Grin

ppeatfruit · 19/11/2012 08:54

Ooh forgot the Tess and Claudia show; did anyone else notice they almost SWOPPED looks Grin? I liked Tess in that dress but there was a weird effect on our telly anyway IMO she looked like a tranny with a bit of beard growth! because the dress seemed to reflect onto her face with her WHITE lippy( I looked to see if Claudia had red lippy and it was a bit more colourful than usual!!

TheOneWithTheHair · 19/11/2012 09:40

I agree about Girls Aloud and Kylie. Dd was quite bemused by the men in corsets and said the looked weird. She asked me why they were wearing them and I had no idea what to tell her. Confused

It was nice to see Claudia's eyes though. Grin

notyummy · 19/11/2012 09:46

I also laughed hugely at Bruno's reaction to seeing himself in that harness. I know from bitter experience how unflaterring those sorts of things are. I have never really recovered from seeing a photo of my arse in one.

Liked Lisa, DVO, Dani, Kimberley and quite enjoyed Louis.

The right person left.

VP should go next.

knottyhair · 19/11/2012 09:49

I like the same people you do notyummy.

I get the feeling DVO can't do right for doing wrong on here. Her banter with James is clearly just that, and they seem to have a nice relationship. She's hardly the only contestant to have had any dance training. I met her once in the loo of Joe Allen's and she was lovely. I don't get the "hard eyes" thing at all, and as for her applause for other contestants being "too enthusiastic", blimey, what's she supposed to do?
