Agree totally about Erin, she just seems too much girl next door for the Latin dances. She comes across as a lovely, modest down to earth person and is one of my favourite pros despite the Latin shortcomings.

Claudia's dress makes her look even shorter than usual.

Erin's probably my favourite too. Her ballroom's fantastic, and she's done some really lovely rumbas too imo.

Her Latin probably looks worse too as most of the newer pros are Latin specialists aren't they?

I like Darcy, I think she's still finding her feet and her mannerisms aren't any worse than the other judges' quirks. She at least usually has something sensible to say about the actual performance.

Not sorry to see the end of Richard, but he did give a sweet little speech towards Erin. And her back as well.

I just logged on just for the theory the right people went I liked Richard and Erin they were fun and i like Erin anyway , should have been victoria imo I wonder if there is going to be an olympian in the final

You realise just what a wonderful singer George Michael is when you hear another professional singer slaughter club tropicana like that. When he sang it, it was effortless.

I love darcey. Can't be mean about saint darcey! I can't understand why she's not a dame, frankly.

OK, since I know you were all on tenterhooks for my Theory , here it is.

FANBASE MEANS NOTHING.

Popularity of a celeb's band/soap/gold medals has no predictive power whatsoever. I've read "oh the Eastenders/Girls Aloud/McFly/Corrie/Man U vote will keep people in and I honestly can't think of a case where it's been true. People stay in beyond their level of dance ability because they are likeable, funny, have hilarious car crash potential, have a great relationship with their pros or if they are male and staggeringly hot. But the fanbase they came in with has never made a difference. And I've not seen it make a difference with any other competitive reality show either, certainly not DOI (with the arguable exemption of the Loose Women vote).

Discuss/ refute if you can with examples.

I think you're right dilys. Not least because I don't know who half these people are so I can only judge on the dancing.

I like Darcey and she is eminently more qualified than Alesha ever was, but she is still giving incorrect advice.

In the last 2 weeks alone she has told dancers to

1. lead with their feet - works for ballet not for ballroom/latin
2. that Samba bounce comes from the knees - nope, it comes from the feet and ankles
3. That leaning back and sticking your nose in the air constitutes a correct head line for a lady dancing ballroom - of course it doesn't! You create the line through an upwards rotation of the body and using your head weight to counterbalance yourself.

I agree Dilys, DH is convinced people vote because they like them in EE or whatever, I just don't agree with him. It's definitely not just about the dancing though, personalities make a big difference.
