Sparkly new thread.....

OP posts:

agree with the stamding ovation bit. Brucie yelling "they're on their feet! Look! Look at that! Look over there!" as if the dancers are blind and deaf

Biscuitsandtea · 13/11/2012 08:29

Yy about the standing ovations. As if it is the first time ever, not the 15th that show. I reckon they have a little electric charge running through the seats that makes then all jump up Grin

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2012 08:54

Poor old Bruce the letch' he's past it and doesn't realise it. He always says the same thing and tells appalling jokes badly; getting the timing wrong more often than not and as we said upthread TIME FOR BF TO GO

I feel a bit sorry for Brucie, as in I feel bad for disliking him because he's a bit of an institution, but that doesn't stop me fast forwarding through him. I do think his time has come, a bit like sportsmen who retire before they decline too much. I think he should bow out now. Or do some bit part, like being in the panel on ITT or something. And I'm pretty sure there is no way they would have an 80yo (he is 80 isn't he?) woman presenting? Hmm no matter how much experience she had in 'the biz'.

Is it just me (with a total lack of any dancing experience or skill) or does he look awful when he does his shuffly tap dancing that everyone in the audience seems to go wild for?

Me too I just think he is past it tbh I am not looking for a young hip presenter but his jokes are awful he looks like he struggles with autocue but he is a national treasure i spose sigh

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 13/11/2012 10:59

I've always liked Bruce but definitely time for him to step aside, I'm sure they could find him a bit part, preferably pre-recorded.

tangofan · 13/11/2012 12:47

Agree with the others re Brucie - the weekend's episode was so much better without the need to watch 15 minutes behind so I could dive for the FF button every time Tess said "over to you, Bruce". I for one didn't miss the lame jokes that drag on forever, the disbelief at (another) standing ovation or the annoying shuffly tap-dancing thing. Urgh. Respect to his long career and all that but please retire him from SCD. Also, I thought the judges' argument was allowed to continue because he wasn't there to intervene -which was better tv, frankly.

On the subject of presenters, is it just me or is Zoe Ball annoyingly hyper on ITT?

ooh, just realised I might be able to post for once without people thinking I just love a certain fizzy orange juice...

Skillbo · 13/11/2012 13:17

Quite an evening and whilst I TOTALLY agree that Tess and Claudia were better, I thought Claudia was a bit too 'wacky for wacky' sake and I think it I was subjected to that every week, she would soon become as annoying to me as Brucie is. Don't get me wrong - she is a HUGE improvement on Tess and given the choice, I think the way it was done this weekend was the way it should always be done but Claudia would need to tone it down. Brucie needs to go - and the response the BBC must have got following the show will surely make them consider this as his last series - please!!

So the dancing - I shocked myself completely as I though Nicky was the best dance of the night. Probably because I was expecting him to be shite and he wasn't but it really had personality. I liked Louis but he is really lacking in the personality stakes - the stuff on ITT of him acting like a spoiled teenager was spot on! I also think the Mighty Monk Seal has it right in that his and Flavia's relationship definitely seems more like mother and son! DvO, despite the fact I don't seem to like her very much, was very good but echo all the posters who were desperate to see Ian dance - he is just Fab-u-lous!

I also like Lisa but not as much as some on here - she is passable and doesn't deserve to go yet but can't see her getting into the Top 5 (although who the Top 5 will be, I have no idea.. maybe Kimberley, Louis, DvO, Dani and someone unexpected - maybe Victoria, but only cos I love Brendan!)

I still just want Michael gone although he doesn't annoy me as much as he did at the beginning - but he needs to GO, NOW! Kimberley shouldn't have been there - he should and then the lovely Artem, oh and Fern, would still be in it.

mum2twoloudbabies · 13/11/2012 13:23

I will join the 'Bruce needs to go' group. We think that he must have something on somebody senior at the BBC to still be on the screen. He ruins the whole show. I actually think that Anton is being positioned to take over.

Can I add that Bruno needs go to? Will I get shot down? I find him immensely irritating and now a bit worn.

Plus, why has Robin gone all Louis Spence Confused? I'm positive he wasn't like that previously.

ppeatfruit · 13/11/2012 15:10

skillbo IKWYM about Claudia but there is no way she would engender the fear I see in Tess's eyes when she and Bruce do the faux dancing. I reckon he's a real letch actually!

*mum28 IKWYM about Bruno but I LIKE him he's a laugh, admittedly in small doses, Grin and he knows his stuff. IMO he lightens the atmos. of the judging.

WrathdePan · 13/11/2012 15:13

Nooo! Claudia's mania is hilarious, saucy and gentle - can't get enough of her. AND she's a smart as anything.

Finallygotaroundtoit · 13/11/2012 18:04

We're another household that didn't fast forward at all on Sat. Normally whizz thru all the Brucie bits

dementedma · 13/11/2012 18:15

Another vote for getting rid
of Bruce. So much better without him

RedZombie · 13/11/2012 20:53

Tess was alright this week doing the presenter bit, which is a huge compliment coming from me. She didn't do half as much fidgeting as she normally does, and no crap jokes.
Claudia is so much better at interviewing though. Tess always looks like the questions have been scribbled and handed to her, five seconds before she reads them.

Loved Claudia just for: 'Denise at the top, Richard at the bottom and eveyone else is inbetween'.

Wembley was dreadful last year - hope they sort the sound out. Blackpool Twoer is amazing in RL and I think that came over in the show.

SecondhandRose · 14/11/2012 07:36

Anyone mentioned eyes yet? And that hideous dress of Claudia's - what was she thinking? I reckon Tess said "yes you can help but you must wear a dress that I choose". Claudia cant read the autocue, she is forever screwing up ber eyes to read and there is Tess with her lazy eye that she likes to try to cover with her fringe.

mum2twoloudbabies · 14/11/2012 07:36

ppeatfruit I did used to like Bruno but I think he gets more over the top each series and you're right he does know what he's talking about.

ppeatfruit · 14/11/2012 09:23

mumof2 IMO he's the FUN judge Grin we're getting rid of Bruce let's leave someone!!

I noticed in STT last night that Julien had calmed down a lot; Now he really WAS OTT !! Sweet that he chose Fern's dress for his number 1 which i thought didn't do a lot for her Grin. Much preferred Kim's and Vic's.

AndiMac · 14/11/2012 11:11

I really liked Victoria's dress, but then again, she's young and fit and anything is going to look good on her, isn't it? I thought Fern's dress was really great, and I liked the crafty bit of making a lot of it her skin tone, so it looked like she was showing a lot more flesh than she actually was. Between the dress and her hair and makeup, she looked 15 years younger at least than her 55 years!

ppeatfruit · 14/11/2012 11:35

andimac Did you see the STT2 where the dress designer spoke about the base of netting which is shaped and fitted like a swimsuit then they 'build' the dress on to it it was interesting.

Also don't forget the plastic surgeon's knife and the stomach stapling that she had which has contributed quite a bit to Fern's look Grin i don't want to be unkind and I LIKE her but she can afford to look as good as does.

AndiMac · 14/11/2012 13:54

The design information was interesting, I rather enjoyed it. As to Fern's shape, I'll be kind and attribute it to three hours a weekday in the dance studio. Wink

AndiMac · 14/11/2012 13:55

Plus of course, the general melting one would do in the presence of Artem's abs!

Listmaker · 14/11/2012 14:06

I agree with those saying Wembley last year was rubbish - not looking forward to this Saturday at all. I also wish they still went to Blackpool.

I said it before but Claudia ALWAYS wears dresses like that - I have NEVER seen her in anything fitted!

Mum2 I don't think we can get rid of Bruno - he always makes me laugh. Let's just aim for Bruce for now.........this surely HAS to be his last year - although I've been saying that for years now. It was (as others have said) lovely not to have to fast forward all his bits and yes the 'look, look at the all on their feet' thing is just boring now - they are on their feet half the time!

No one I know irl cares about all this stuff so thanks for listening and letting me join in ladies!

theliverpoolone · 14/11/2012 14:28

Victoria was on Loose Women this week, and when asked who the most competitive contestants are, she said Louis and Denise (while denying completely that she's at all competitive Hmm). The more I see of her, the less I can equate her to being an Olympic cyclist - she's just so flaky and needy.

ppeatfruit · 14/11/2012 15:19

I must say Andi I thought Fern and Artem seemed VERY friendly on STT2! she IS a friendly woman though Grin

List I don't think I 've ever seen Claudia in anything different either; what with the fringe I wonder if she has self esteem issues?
