Sparkly new thread.....

OP posts:

Was googling looking at Pics of Louis last night, looks really odd without his odd hair !

suburbandream · 12/11/2012 18:25

Am I the only one who thinks it's a shame they don't go to Blackpool? I loved it when they used to do that. Wembley just seems too big for dancing to me. I suppose it makes them more money though ....

Biscuitsandtea · 12/11/2012 18:28

I think it's a real shame they don't go to Blackpool. I'd rather see them there than at wembley.

fucketybye · 12/11/2012 18:47

Ooooh Artem. You have made me weep you lovely man.

I still must be bloody hormonal...

digerd · 12/11/2012 18:48

Biscuit
I loved Harry and was the only year I voted - for him, of course.

TheOneWithTheHair · 12/11/2012 18:49

I too think it's a shame they don't go to Blackpool.

Bruce was off doing some rehearsing or something for Children In Need iirc.

digerd · 12/11/2012 18:56

I love Pasha, as go for cute and sweet more than enormous muscles and too big teeth.

digerd · 12/11/2012 18:57

Loved Ramps though too.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/11/2012 19:00

I'd prefer Blackpool too, makes it such a special occasion. Blackpool with Tess and Claudia wold be perfect.

I watched the show again this afternoon. It was SO much better without Bruce. Even though I've always had a soft spot for him. Tess seemed much more relaxed, Claudia does the upstairs chat bit far better than Tess, the whole thing was much smoother and easier viewing. The behind the scenes bit with Anton was good too. Now he's one I cannot imagine with the Louis haircut!

WrathdePan · 12/11/2012 19:25

The Backpool jaunt has been described as 'too expensive'....so hiring Wembley Arena was less expensive? Yes, more tickets can be sold, BUT..it's a matter of taste and setting. WA is just vulgar and NOT simpatico to dancing. As Bruno would be saying.Smile

Biscuitsandtea · 12/11/2012 19:34

Quite! As ever Pan you are the voice of reason Smile

WrathdePan · 12/11/2012 19:38

I like to think so.Grin

AndiMac · 12/11/2012 19:44

The tickets to go to Wembley cost £20 and the money goes to Children in Need. They didn't choose it to make money, that's for certain. Having not grown up in the UK, Blackpool holds no special significance for me (though I know it's special for dancers for some reason) and the name "Wembley" is more exciting to me and also to a far younger audience than me as well, I would imagine.

Artem was just lovely with Fearn on ITT. I think I'm as addicted to It Takes Two as I am to the actual Saturday and Sunday shows!

this ,

WrathdePan · 12/11/2012 19:56

Well, at £20 per go that money at Blackpool could also have gone to Children In Need too. And Blackpool has been the mecca of ballroom dancing since the 1920's, at least, and the size of the place is enormous, yet with the balconies all around it creates an intimacy - no-one in the seats are a few yards away from the floor. There is nothing in the sarf like it.
But WA it is.

Oodthunkit · 12/11/2012 20:16

They'd have to take everyone north though and people don't always like that Hmm

AndiMac · 12/11/2012 20:16

I'm not going to argue it further, but I will point out that Blackpool Tower Ballroom has a maximum capacity of 1,400 and Wembley Arena is nearly 10 times that with 12,500. That's a lot more to give to charity. I enjoyed the finale at Blackpool, but don't really feel the vibe of its importance.

Mrsjay · 12/11/2012 20:37

I have been in the tower ballroom in blackpool it is amazing really camp and blingy and there was a tea dance going on was very sweet, andi I think because Blackpool was nostalgic and make strictly a more nostalgic programme that is why we do like it being there, W A will be a good show, the original Strictly way back when Len was a lad was broadcast from tower ballroom

AvengingGerbil · 12/11/2012 22:40

Last year's Wembley show was a shocker. Appalling sound quality, lamentable camera work, hideous lighting, dancers galloping round to try to 'use' the space, and, worst of all, a completely sugared-up, hysterical, screeching audience. It may be fun for the crowd in Wembley, but for those of us at home, it'll be sound on mute and fast forwarding through to the week after.

pinkteddy · 12/11/2012 22:52

Couldn't agree more avenging. It was awful. However, everyone who went thought it was absolutely fantastic and it obviously raised a lot of money For Children in need so there we have it!

Horsemad · 12/11/2012 22:56

Agree Avenging -'twas hideous - might give the whole prog a miss this week.

Delalakis · 13/11/2012 00:04

What I particularly appreciated this week was not having Brucie go apeshit every time someone got a standing ovation. It really hacks me off listening to him carrying on every single time as if such a thing has never happened before. It's not as if Strictly audiences are exactly backward about leaping to their feet either, so it's never either a novelty or even an endorsement, it's pretty meaningless.

FrankelDeBeauvoir · 13/11/2012 08:15

If you ask an international ballroom dancer where they would like to dance in the UK, they will all say Blackpool. It's the spiritual home of Ballroom dancing.

Wembley, whole a great venue in its own right, cannot hold a torch to it.

Fiderer · 13/11/2012 08:22

God I'm out of touch. I was scrolling through this thread and have finally realised who the woman in the audience was, the one the camera kept showing. I had no idea and kept peering at the people beside and behind her and wondering if they were ex-contestants.

Biscuitsandtea · 13/11/2012 08:26

Ah you mean chezzer? I was surprised because they seemed to be making a huge fuss about Shane from westlife going, they mentioned it on ITT and then again on the night. chezzer didn't get a mention until after Kimberly had danced. Took me a while to figure out who she was!
