I am beside myself with excitement. here - who's putting the contacts in? Is that Carrie in a disguise? Any one else agog?

I've also seen the final episode and can say time they do leave it open for a 3rd season....

I half want the 7 season rumours to be true and half don't!

Timetoask, total thread hijack but have you got one of those Smart TVs then with iPlayer. Is it any good?
Sorry for hijack!

I can't wait until Sunday. Glad to hear that there is something in store for the last episode. Please can I just remind anyone who has seen it to not give us any spoilers (those who have have been really good at not doing so so far).

Oh wow, DH just texted me to say Damian Lewis got on his tube this morning and stood right next to him. Got on at Tottenham Ct Rd and off at Bond St. 100% sure apparently! We just watched two weeks' worth of HL last night so he was very excited about it Grin

Surely Saul will tip off Carrie about the planned hit? Probably while Quinn is sitting in his car feeling all angsty about shooting Brody, he seemed touched that Carrie said she trusts him (conversation outside the old warehouse when they were discussing whether Galvez was a mole).

I think the finale will have Carrie and Brody going on the run, and Estes in the shit because he has 'allowed' an agent to go AWOL with a terrorist. Maybe he will relent on Saul because he needs his help to track them down?

I'm still confused about the lack of phone tapping. Also about the hit on Brody: surely Estes can't act as a one man army ordering assassinations as and when he pleases; if he's arranged for Brody to be killed that must be okayed by other persons/at other levels? And that being so Saul woudn't have the power to bring him down over it?

Im all confused but I didnt get the impression that Estes had given the order to go for Brody. I thought Quinn had his instructions from elsewhere and Estes had to go along with it.

HalleLouja · 18/12/2012 12:52

I thought Quinn was recruited for the team by Estes as he wanted a soldier.

Brody keeps getting different phones, I think - and the CIA would be reluctant to tap the phones in case that alerted Nazir that Brody was definitely CIA.

But the CIA are also rubbish - imagine not having the Nazir news broken to Brody in isolation by a senior team member, to contain his reaction.

Estes still wants Brody dead; he told Quinn it was a good time to kill him as it would look like retribution for the death of Abu Nasir.

Second recommendation for The Wire. But you must start at the beginning and stick with it whilst you get your ear attuned to the language. It's amazing and beautifully written, with characters that you can really become attached to. It's also got the gorgeous Idris Elba and Dominic West doing fab Baltimore accents too. I watched all of them over a few months, one a night with my DH and each one got us talking about what was going to happen next, not in the same way as this does with it's twists but in a more philosophical way. I quite fancy writing a dissertation on the language of The Wire :)

I noticed the body language between Quinn and Carrie at the warehouse - he seemed to be trying to look after her which makes me think the theory about him not being able to go through with killing Brody could be right.

At the risk of sounding all self-righteous and po-faced, those of you who've watched it early, have you done so legally - and if so, where please? I'm not going to be able to watch it on Sunday and I think the pent-up tension might make me explode ...

I'm stupidly pleased that the British actors' accents are so good to an American's ears. That's made me chuffed to bits. Best British accent by an American - Gwyneth Paltrow in Sliding Doors. That was spot on.

I'm also waiting for Sunday unless it appears that I can't on account of my pesky family - in which case yes, how exactly do you cheat?

And to paraphrase Jaws - we're going to need a bigger thread.

Hassled, have you heard Damian Lewis speaking in his "english" accent? He has an awful mid-Atlantic drawl, I suppose from spending so long out there and using an american accent. His intonation is absolutely US, that's why they are fooled by his accent. He goes up at the end of his sentences and does that "blah blah...right?" thing.

David Harewood, on the other hand, is a proper brummy! And Rupert Friend is still quite posh...love him.

Btw, is nobody even a bit impressed that Brody was on the central line this morning? I think it's made DH's Christmas Grin

Hassled · 18/12/2012 19:59

I have heard the mid-Atlantic thing - all that time at Eton wasted for Homeland :o.

And I was very impressed at Brodie on the Central Line - did your DH speak to him, or just stare? I think I'd have been a starer.

digestiveandacupoftea sorry, have only just seen your question for me... We have an IMAC, decided to do this mainly because we never have time to watch the programs we like when they are on, so decided to get something we could use as a tv and computer at the same time.... (DH is apple fanatic!)

I am so THICK - I didn't know where I knew St Saul/Mandy from but I knew I'd seen him in something. Tonight DS2 was poking around the DVDs looking for something to watch and found Dead Like Me - and there was St Saul himself! Dead Like Me was a brilliant show - Mandy was Chief Reaper. If anyone's pining for a bit of older man smiley loveliness after next Sunday, watch Dead Like Me.
