I'm so excited, the new series starts next week Grin. Link

I liked the cobwebs too.

HazeltheMcWitch · 02/10/2012 20:56

Can't believe that JAmes won SB, much as I love him.
But glad the shrieker has gone. Mel and Sue seem fond of her, though, so she must be ok.

coffeeinbed · 02/10/2012 20:57

I think Brendan winning is a real danger possibility now.

Southsearocks · 02/10/2012 20:57

Brendan and his shreddies to win!

expatinscotland · 02/10/2012 20:59

I'm gutted Cathryn went . . . NOT.

dementedma · 02/10/2012 21:08

Glad john stayed in. I love him. Clever retrieving by James of a balls up, thought Brendan's house was cute

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 02/10/2012 21:27

Hooray! Uncle Quentin made star baker again! I loved the draughty barn Grin

katkouta · 02/10/2012 21:41

But nobody has mentioned James' legs dangling from under his pinny!

flippinada · 02/10/2012 21:53

Well, my son will be disappointed Cathryn has gone out as he has a crush on her.

I'm not though

flippinada · 02/10/2012 21:55

Surprised at James getting SB too. I reckon he got it cos they couldn't give it to Brendan AGAIN.

Although, if Ryan got Star Baker for his key lime pie, I don't know why John couldn't have got it for the ginger coliseum.

NorbertDentressangle · 02/10/2012 21:55

Another one who is glad that Cathryn has gone.

I just couldn't cope with her 'pre-teen sulky face' impression, doe-eyed flirting with Paul and little girlie voice any more.

I loved James' barn and the fact that all the other contestants (well, apart from Brendan of course as he 'knows' his is the best) probably thought "oooh at least mine isn't as bad a James collapsed barn" and then the judges enthused about the flavours, how wonderful it was and he was Master Baker!

Danny to win.

iklboo · 02/10/2012 22:00

*ginger coliseum' - is that a euphemism? Grin

squoosh · 02/10/2012 22:01

Did anyone notice the filthy fignernails of the food historian when he was making those Tudor gingerbread people. Urgh.

James made a good save with the crumbled down barn although I think making him SB was a bit indulgent.

I do like John and was impressed by his colossal Colosseum.

Danny wasn't quite so annoying this week, her Big Ben looked pretty messy though.

Brendan is still king. Loved his twitter pic!

PelvicFloorClenchReminder · 02/10/2012 22:05

Awww, but it was his birthday! Grin

flippinada · 02/10/2012 22:07

ppeat thank you for your kind offer! Dairy isn't an issue though, my problem is too much cake - I need to cut down.

I was very good when watching today and just had a cup of tea. Them last three weeks I've made a fresh cake so me and DS can have a slice while we watch Grin.

flippinada · 02/10/2012 22:08

Well, personally I think the towering ginger coliseum should have won, it had a fantastical rigid structure.

iklboo · 02/10/2012 22:12

flippinada detonates iklboo's double entendre bomb.

flippinada · 02/10/2012 22:14

Sorry iklboo

But surely you must have observed the intricate structure and observed how rigid it was?

(sorry again Grin)

iklboo · 02/10/2012 22:17

Oh yes flippinada - a very sturdy confection erection.

cocolepew · 02/10/2012 22:29

Wasn't Cathryn petulant this week? She had a gob on her from the beginning.
I loved the twee birdhouse.

If Paul is hoing to be my next husband he needs to hold back on the hair gel.

outtolunchagain · 02/10/2012 22:37

Cathryn grew on me actually and I do think that Mary was right when she said that she was an instinctive home baker . Was sad to see her go in the end.

Really pleased for James and he did win the technical bake this week and last .

I am afraid I really think Brendan has had a sense of humour bypass ,he is so serious about the competition and his technique etc and he makes horrible faces whilst the other people are being judged.Did think that his gingerbread house though was a very simple construction when they had clearly said the structure needed to be complex.

squoosh · 02/10/2012 22:43

Nooooooooo Brendan has a lovely dry sense of humour! He does not make horrible faces when the others are being judged. He doesn't have a play doh face like some of the others (Cathryn/Sarah Jane) but he always seems genuinely pleased for others when they've done well.

Jux · 02/10/2012 23:23

Finally caught up!

So glad Cathryin has gone, the whole holding ears, shrieking, truculent little girlie "surpwoise" thing has really irritated me this week. Didn't mind her last week, but pwersumably I'm not in my normal good humor.

Brendan's bird house was cute, but baby shredded wheat a definite no-no. The coliseum was fantastic, but James' barn showed quick thinking and imagination, well done that man for salvaging a disaster.

John (?) needs to stop poking his nose when he's stressed. Not a flattering look.

At the moment I don't mind who wins, as I like all of them, really.

Am feeling vaguely inspired re crackers, though.

LetUsPrey · 02/10/2012 23:38

Hurrah for James winning Star Baker again! I liked Brendan's birdhouse, thought the whole setting of it was very cute, although perhaps he should have made his roof out of gingerbread. Pleased to see John doing better.

Agree it was Cathryn's time to go.

Couldn't weigh up who was looking worried out of the four of them on the trailer for next week at the end of tonight's show.

wintera · 03/10/2012 06:54

Who, but who, would ever bake/make choc tea cakes? I'm sure everybody across the land just buys a packet of Tunnocks!

I kind of liked Brendon's thatched roof effect with the shredded wheat but could totally see what the judges meant though. It should have been something tasty, although my niece eats bowl fulls of those with no milk so they should have give it a go!

Thought John and James did very well on their ginger breads, loved both of them. Danny's was quite messy looking though unfortunately.

Anyone else think Cathryn was ready to go herself? She said something about her hubby being happy it was over as they would get their lives back. Made me think that she was ready for it to end.
