Agree about James' bike - didn't like it and find his faux quirkiness a PITA sometimes. Still think Brendan will/should win but was sad to see Danny go as she was his best competition. Can someone post a link to the sugarcraft thread that you were discussing a couple of pages back - would love to read it but can't find it.

God, this is just about my favourite programme - will be disproportionately upset when it's over. Love, love, love John but it's clearly going to be between James and Boring Bernard.

How messy looking was that bike? Maybe no one this year has it all but Brendan is streets ahead of James. For some reason they like to indulge James.

I was sad to see Danny go this week, she's been much consistent than Jon although it's lovely how thrilled he was to get through.

Another one here who is starting to find James rather irritating.

I've also had to dislike the gbbo Facebook page as there are some rather nasty homophobic comments on there. Leaves a bad taste.

I thought the bike looked a right mess.

Maybe he has done compromising photos of Paul, Mary and some creme patissiere?

TheSandstoneCat, the sugarcraft thread is here, it lives in the Baking topic, under Feed the World, which is here. I have spent many a happy hour looking at the pics of cakes on people's profiles!

i like the way James improvises and tries out things. for instance the chocolate thing with the ice was clever. he is very scientific.

Brendan is very good at the look of the product but he is very Mr 70's with his swans.

sugarcraft thread

Paul Hollywood is getting fed up with James' make it up as you go along attitude. I don't blame him, if it's genuine then it's a bit disrespectful to everyone else who is putting so much thought into it. It seemed like he was playing it up a bit though after saving the barn disaster.

oops, too slow, Jux got there first :)

I've worked it out: Brendan is Obi Wan Kanobi, the wise old master with years of dedication, sacrifice, training and discipline behind him.

James is Luke Skywalker; young, impulsive and with occasional flashes of genius because the Force is strong in this one.

John is the other one, who no one really bothers with. Jar Jar Binks? C3P0?

Does that mean they will be whipping their light sabres in the final?

Whipping out their light sabres. Ooops.

Flip - who are the homophobic comments about on Facebook? Brendan or John? Don't blame you for hiding it, sometimes those pages on Facebook get bloody ridiculous. Can't be doing with it!

Report
flippinada · 09/10/2012 22:42

Mainly Brendan.

Not that it matters - but some of the comments are really nasty. It's a baking competition ffs!

Apparently it's the final next week & then 3 weeks of master classes with Paul & Mary 'to show you how it should have been done' to quote Mr Hollywood.

I wonder if there will be a behind the scenes exposé showing Paul and Mary hiding their soggy bottoms?

Report
flippinada · 09/10/2012 22:49

Paul and Mary must have had soggy bottoms at some point in their baking careers.

Actually maybe not. The cakes probably wouldn't dare.

Jux · 09/10/2012 22:49

yes, wem! I have that thread bookmarked. Looking at all your cakes makes me happy! Grin

I don't understand why anyone would be nasty about them - every contestant is really lovely. Even Cathryn! That's why I like it.

People who feel the need to make offensive comments about other people 's sexuality clearly have their own issues that they are struggling with.

I have the wisteria print blazer Mary wears next week! It's from Whistles and I love mine Grin

Hmm, didn't agree with James for star baker this week any more than last week. The choux bike may have tasted amazing but it looked crap. But the only other contender was Brendan and his technical bake wasn't great was it?

OOOOOOOh poor Danni!!! I could tell her creme pat. wasn't going to 'set' she didn't whisk or cook it long enough (I thought she looked relieved though) it must be hideously stressful in that marquee!! Grin

Interestingly Brendan's didn't look that good either!

So just the blokes now getting out their light sabres Grin!!! Love the star wars metaphor pumpthevolume

Did NOT like the 'this is what i was aiming at' comments from Bren. I really hope he doesn't win. I Love James; brown bike and all Grin

Hurrah for James! I was actually starting to warm to Danny.

Excited for final already. John will explode with nerves bless 'im. Even Brendan looks to lose his unflappability. James (and his hair which makes me want to run my fingers through it) for the win!
