I'm so excited, the new series starts next week Grin. Link

James never bakes anything that looks lip smacking.

There's a lot of brown and things that look like they'd keep your bowels in good health, but nothing toothsome.

hiviolet · 26/09/2012 09:45

Totally agree squoosh!

I lolled at Cathryn when Paul asked to see her brioche dough, and she hissed "Do you HAVE to?" (or works to that effect). The face on her! If looks could kill Grin

Ryan definitely had to go tonight. That Liam hardly looked like a showstopper. In fact, most of the bakes looked too ordinary to be showstoppers, bar Brendan and Danny.

hiviolet · 26/09/2012 09:45

That Liam? That loaf! Bloody autocorrect Grin

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 26/09/2012 10:05

squoosh, how about that gorgeous rose, raspberry and lychee tart thingy James made? I'd love a go at that and one with James

ppeatfruit · 26/09/2012 11:20

HOORAY Danni best baker!!! Okay lady hello btw Smile who made the delightful key lime pie? I'm sure twas James; yes I like him too; best of a not very handsome lot of males IMO.

Oh thanks for the info orangeena Smile

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 26/09/2012 11:26

Hi ppeatfruit! It was Ryan.

My favourite recipe from James is this tart. Yum

ppeatfruit · 26/09/2012 12:24

Yes I see Lady Thanks, shame he's gone but I can't get that digusting pork loaf out of my mind yeuchGrin; the problem with James's is you'd need to taste it to know how well all those flavours blended or didn't IYKWIM. I go for simplicity, who do reckon'l win then?

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 26/09/2012 14:24

That pork bun could have been so good as well.

I liked the look of James's doughnuts, and that's not a euphemism.

Brendan to win, probably. John must go next week. He's lost the plot.

ppeatfruit · 26/09/2012 17:21

Noooooo Not Brendon Shock agree he's good but there's something too good about him like he's a pro or something. Agree about John.

squoosh · 26/09/2012 17:25

Well John definitely isn't 'too good' Wink

I do like him though . . . . . just not as much as Brendan.

ppeatfruit · 26/09/2012 17:32

Did John put his hand in a mixer while it was running? DUH (i know I sound unsympathetic but really this is a BAKING show FFS!!!)

VikingVagine · 26/09/2012 17:40

I don't think it was running, but he cut himself on the still blade, easily done.

HiHowAreYou · 26/09/2012 17:58

Yes I think John to go next week too. Shame, because he's quite funny.

That gingerbread building task next week looks ridiculous!

squoosh · 26/09/2012 18:00

Brendan will built a scale model of Versailles, the rest of them will have some tatty Swiss cottage.

LetUsPrey · 26/09/2012 19:53

I am worried about James's gingerbread house next week. On the little trail thing it looked like he was having some problems with it.

dementedma · 26/09/2012 20:02

Brendan's gingerbread mansion will be epic, with a west wing and servants quarters. Ooh, let's combine my two favorite telly addict threads and have the cast of downton abbey move into Brendan's gingerbread stately home!

VikingVagine · 26/09/2012 20:17

Catheryn looked like she was building a gingerbread cathedral. The one in the book is a small cosy cottage, so we'll have to see who's making something reasonable, because theirs wins.

TwoIfBySea · 27/09/2012 00:31

Looks like Sarah-Jane and Catheryn have teamed up.

Liked Sarah-Jane, still don't like Catheryn.

ppeatfruit · 27/09/2012 08:23

DH once bought a build it yrself gingerbread house for the DCs from Germany it was like highly sweetened cardboard with lumps of solid sugar icing which like stone; even they couldn't build it or eat it, it was VILE!!!!

ppeatfruit · 27/09/2012 08:25

I meant to say 'were' like stone!

Snorbs · 27/09/2012 08:59

I can see Brendan winning but I'd be really disappointed if he did. He gives me the impression that he took up baking because he decided he needed a hobby and randomly chose that as it was indoor work with no heavy lifting. Sure, technically he's very competent but there's no passion for making good food there that I can see, it's all about what would score the most points.

By contrast, Danny and John and Sarah Jane and Ryan and the rest seemed to do baking because they enjoyed it and had fun creating new things that they and their family and friends would enjoy.

Jux · 27/09/2012 09:19

Like Brendon. Was really sorry that Sarah-Jane went last night (That was when I watched it - have studiously avoided this thread until I could catch up).

The building of buildings looks completely over the top, and rather silly.

There wasn't really anything that notable in the last ep, except I've decided I don't really like Paul. As far as I was concerned his doughnuts are overdone Grin

squoosh · 27/09/2012 09:37

Brendan should win because he is streets ahead of everyone else.

To me it seems as if he is completely passionate about baking. He has so much knowledge, he isn't coy and giggly that's for sure, I find it quite refreshing. He doesn't need to do all that lip biting and 'ooohh this is going to be a disaster' that Catheryn some of the others carry on with.

ppeatfruit · 27/09/2012 13:51

I agree with snorbs there's something a bit 'i'm slumming it here but i may as well give it a go even though I'm miles better than all these nobodies' about Brendan; the most enjoyable best bit [grin[ was when he did something wrong and was actually challenged Grin.

coffeeinbed · 27/09/2012 14:07

Ah, Sarah Jane and Cathryn are mumsnetters - they did this thing on that blog - with the brackets, like the strike out here, except with brackets.
Also, it means Cathryn has not won because then she would have been doing stuff on her own.
