I'm here, I'm here! I cannot wait. I am practically wetting myself. not sure about the casting of Margory, but cant wait to see Ygritte and Melissandre

Whenisitmysleepytime · 21/03/2012 17:33

Ok I will fess up now ....
I haven't read the books! Blush

I enjoyed the series so much and didn't want to start the books and get hooked and whizz through before the tv series came back on.

In my defence dd was tiny when the series ended and reading was such hard work then! Blush

I'm here too, and I haven't read them yet either. I almost want to be able to enjoy the series without constantly going 'that's not right' Confused
That and I haven't got the funds for them ATM

OracleInaCoracle · 21/03/2012 18:40

H, the series was shockingly close to the book, Ive read them all. it does get a bit bleak, and in the 3rd book something dreadful happens. the type of thing that makes you put the book down, go "fu-uck" and sob for a while.

VivaLeBeaver · 21/03/2012 18:45

I've just had Sky installed so I can watch this. Watched the dvd box set of 1st series and read all the books. Very excited.

VivaLeBeaver · 21/03/2012 18:47

Aggh am at work for the first 2 episodes - how does Sky plus record series thing work?

eleanorwish · 21/03/2012 18:50

After watching the first season, I read all the books, and it's just whetted my appetite for the next season - I can't wait to see how they adapt the different strands of the story.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 21/03/2012 18:55

oracle WHAT?!?!?!?! Even more than Sean bean's exit! I know he always dies in things but I still secretly refuse to believe he's actually dead. (possibly another reason to avoid the books incase they confirm what everyone else, except my heart, knows already!)

Viva, you press the green button. I agree that the books just enhance the series, I am rereading now, in preparation.

And, yes. Even worse than ned's demise. Fricking awesome. And devestating.

Twit · 21/03/2012 20:46

See now I want to know.

Oh.

OracleInaCoracle · 21/03/2012 20:49

If you really want to know, google red wedding.

Cannot wait
Read the books after seeing the first series. You can definitely enjoy the TV adaptation without reading the books. I was in Shock at Sean Bean's demise.

Pocketsocks · 26/03/2012 02:01

I haven't read the books, I stumbled across season 1 when they ran it back to back over two weeks or something and was hooked. I also refuse to believe Sean Bean's gone, despite the damning evidence to the contrary. Hey if we can have dragons he can pull himself together right?!

Jnice · 26/03/2012 03:36

Yippee! Smile

cocobeefsteak · 31/03/2012 22:11

I am so excited. SO EXCITED. I can't wait for Monday.

Whenisitmysleepytime · 02/04/2012 09:30

It's today!!!!!!!! Grin

And dd slept through last night for the first time in ages do I might even stay awake to watch it! Shock

Book 2 was not the best book, IIRC.

BusinessTrills · 02/04/2012 11:51

Please can we have just one GoT thread? I don't mind which.

Other thread.

Unless we have one for people who have read the books and one for people who have not.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 02/04/2012 12:20

Haven't read the books so am pitching my tent here.

I watched last year, in the midst of a very bleak time personally and have to say - it was one of the few joys during that time Grin

Still getting confused about who I should/shouldn't like - that dragon-baby woman, she's ace (should I not like her though?) and her husband - the dark, broody type, he was fab.

I may have been quite high on anti-depressants during the last series, hence the fact that i barely know names.

Oh and Sean Bean ... I would.

Grin
OracleInaCoracle · 02/04/2012 12:58

The thing I love about GoT is that none of the characters are black and white.

valiumredhead · 03/04/2012 15:24

Oh I have really tried with GOT, all last series and last night's was my last episode - it is boring

limitedperiodonly · 04/04/2012 08:27

valium The first episode was a consolidator - which is what I always say when things I really like turn out to be less than exciting Grin

I liked the fact that it was a bit slow and talky because I forgot who some of the characters were and how they were related. The Baratheon brothers for example.

Can you believe I actually forgot about Tyrion until he turned up?

I still have trouble differentiating between Rob Stark and Jon Snow (face blindness, I think, or simple lack of attention) so I was really grateful that they were in the same scene.

No idea who the fat bloke who rapes his daughters is. Should I know him?

OTOH I did recognise that the horse was Drogo's first present to Daenaris before she said so. So I'm on top of the important plot points.

BusinessTrills · 04/04/2012 09:08

How can you forget about Tyrion!?

limitedperiodonly · 04/04/2012 09:36

What can I say? It's not like Tyrion has no distinguishing features Grin

I also forgot about the blacksmith until the final scene. Is he Ned's son?

They should make these people wear name badges like sales reps at conferences.
