sobenobu · 15/04/2012 09:18

I remember that fist episode and the scene....and then nothing much was heard/seen of them and I was quite disappointed.

Glad they're back!

sobenobu · 15/04/2012 18:57

Can anyone tell me....if I were to start reading the books, are we on the second one - A Clash of Kings?

Tonksforthememories · 15/04/2012 19:04

Yes sob, and the series are surprisingly close to the books!

BusinessTrills · 18/04/2012 08:54

Yep, series 1 was book 1, now we are on book 2.

limitedperiodonly · 18/04/2012 15:51

Was watching Monday's episode late last night because I'm nearing danger territory on the planner.

Was a bit drunk so can't remember much of it Blush. Luckily I've found a repeat for tonight.

Going to clear about 2 hrs worth now.

sobenobu · 18/04/2012 17:21

Thanks, I think the whole set would be a decent buy for a holiday read then.

limitedperiodonly · 19/04/2012 21:21

Have watched it now. Up to speed. Only one question: how does Craster rule if he kills all his sons?

Not that sons are necessarily loving but has he got loyal soldiers? Why are they loyal to him?

Eggrules · 20/04/2012 08:24

Craster lives with women and they are all daughter/wives. He gives boy babies to the Wights at birth. The soldiers are from the Night's Watch and they use Craster's place as a stop off point to go further north.

limitedperiodonly · 20/04/2012 09:48

Get it now.

Something else woke me up in the middle of the night that you'd probably be able to explain. Smile

The man who died protecting Arya and Gendry: could you tell me who he was and how he knew their secret please?

He's going to have been in it from the start, hasn't he? Blush

Also, did they encourage the boy who was murdered to steal Gendry's helmet or was that just a happy accident? Not for him, of course.

Eggrules · 20/04/2012 09:59

He is taking them to The Wall to protect them. He was with Arya in the crowd when Ned was executed and made sure she didn't look. I think it was his idea to dress Ayra as a boy.

I think (??) Gendry left the helmet because when the The King's Guard turned up last week they were looking for a boy with a bull helmet. Maybe he just left it when the alarm was sounded and the other fella picked it up.

limitedperiodonly · 20/04/2012 10:06

OK. One more. What happened to the man who taught Arya to fight? I think he was killed but can't remember how it happened.

Back with more questions next week Smile

BusinessTrills · 20/04/2012 10:18

The man who taught Arya to fight held off some guardsmen with a wooden sword, last we saw his wooden sword had been cut in half and he was telling Arya to run away.

(he's probably dead)

ErikNorseman · 20/04/2012 15:36

Can I join? Just borrowed season one and now caught up on season two and I love it! Going to start the b

ErikNorseman · 20/04/2012 15:37

Books tonight so I'm avoiding the other thread in case of spoilerising myself.

BusinessTrills · 20/04/2012 16:46

Don't spoilerise yourself, it's not worth it!

ErikNorseman · 20/04/2012 19:15

No I hate spoilers! I was googling the actors and accidentally spotted that drogo and the baby died and was very Angry

limitedperiodonly · 21/04/2012 12:52

Thanks business

erik Googling is a horrible mistake but I have to do it for work.

My worst spoiler was looking up details on Michael C Hall at the start of the Dexter series with John Lithgow and finding out the end. I wouldn't mind if it was about the programme (well, I would) but this moron had decided to spoil one of the best endings there ever was in a report on Michael C Hall's cancer.

Some other idiot told me major plot twist in The Wire. She didn't even watch the programme but knew I did and thought I'd like to know Confused

A colleague and I flipped for who was going to interview a cast member from 24 just before the finale of the first season. Neither of us wanted to do it. He lost and found out the shock ending. I don't think he's forgiven me.

Our secretary volunteered to read and censor interviews by a particular freelance before I had to work on them because he was notorious for padding them with spoilers from the plot to make the word count. Managed to dodge all his spoilers on Gladiator that way.

If I can't get a volunteer I scan the page and do a little skip with my eyes if I spot anything remotely spoilerish.

Eggrules · 25/04/2012 13:07

Great episode - Tyrion was the best thing in it (as usual imho)

limitedperiodonly · 25/04/2012 17:58

Please put me out of my misery. It's not a plot question this time. I managed to follow the latest episode.

I've just seen a trailer with clips from I think the 1st series and there's an actor in it who played Stella's brother Dai in Stella.

I was watching Stella every week knowing I'd seen him before but not realising it was from Game of Thrones.

Who is he? I can't find him on the imdb Stella cast list.

He's got dyed blond curly hair, improbably groomed eyebrows and looks like he could be a cruise ship entertainer. I don't think he survived into the 2nd series but you never know with my attention to detail.

A character synopsis would be a welcome bonus. Wink

ErikNorseman · 25/04/2012 18:01

Jaime lannister?

limitedperiodonly · 25/04/2012 18:01

Extra clue: he was a knight in a snowy scene in that castle place.

limitedperiodonly · 25/04/2012 18:05

no, not as important as that or as good-looking.

I've just watched the clip again. His line was something like:'So, Jon Snow!' (for it was him).

I must go out now so if I don't reply I'm still very grateful

Eggrules · 25/04/2012 18:27

Can you link to the clip?

OH was tres confused. He thought beyond the Wall and Northern Battle field were the same place. We watched that bit twice before I realised what was wrong. Grin

limitedperiodonly · 26/04/2012 00:06

I've deleted it now. It was just before something I'd recorded on planner at about 2am on Tuesday.

It was one of those Sky Atlantic 'meet the cast' things for saddos and insomniacs.

I am neither. Wink I was watching at about 6pm. It was Seinfeld though which is very nerdy. I never watched Seinfeld and now compulsively watch it on Sky Atlantic waiting for the magic to begin. It doesn't.

I hate them all. Smug gits.

tabulahrasa · 26/04/2012 00:28

Owen Teale is the actor, no clue about the character though, lol
