It never ever occurred to me to feel like a failure for having an epidural with DD1. It was only when I talked to other women after the birth and hearing other people's attitudes about having an epidural that I started to feel like I had a bit .

But why did I feel like that? I had the most beautiful little girl in the whole world. Why do women beat themselves up so much?

I managed to have DD2 without an epidural but labour was so different! It was quicker and didn't seem as painful (DD1 was back to back so that might have been why).

There are no medals given out for not having pain relief.

OK we can all stop pushing now
