The poor woman is going to be extremely traumatised and probably have some horrible birth injuries. What I don't understand is why they didn't just go for a c section at an earlier stage? Is it because the NHS is so anti c-sections?

I wonder if midwife Fitzpatrick blow drys her hair every day,it's always perfect

Her DH is being brilliant

My DH said the hardest thing was feeling so helpless during the whole situation.

Sometimes you just need someone there to hold your hand and wipe your tears

That was horrific. How horrible for Dawn and her DH. Bet she was in agony after that.

My eyes are stinging now watching that birth.

How wrong was I, I really thought they just needed to leave her a bit longer and it would all happen naturally

That was FAR too near the knuckle - DH has gone very pale.

I can imagine this would put a lot of people off forceps.

Wonder if she'll need surgical repair in the future- her bits must be pretty ragged after that.

There was nothing 'natural' about that

If you mean no intervention by 'natural' then no it wasnt natural,but without intervention the baby would be dead.

If it comes to assistance can u skip the Forceps/ventouse and go straight to c-section

Father was great, wasn't he? Awful for both of them. It's made me realise how bloody lucky I've been - 4 fairly straightforward births.

Very similar to DD1's birth. I was so tired and out of it at the time that I didn't really take in how serious the situation was. So scary watching this. :(
