I don;t understand why the kids get picked on? Bit stupid to pick on someone with that many brothers and sisters to back them up isn't it? No one ever said a thing to dh or his brothers and sisters (other than "wow" and a couple of comments about not having a tv).

I think they are being very disingenous about the hamlins income-how can they afford that massive house which is immaculately decorated with all the mod cons?

I wouldn't say it's "immaculate" - looks like a pretty normal family home to me, unlike the show home of The Watsons in Guernsey - how does she keep it that spotless???

Hamlins could of inherited money, they could rent the house, the house may be part of a package with his job, she may get CM from the father of her first four children, money can come from alsorts of places
