Oooh nearly that time of year . As we all know there's no Mitchell , so meet the new vampire on the block Hal .
Tom is back, but I have to say (at the moment ) the pic at top of page looks a bit 'odd' ,there's no Nina , and George is leaving as well .
So big changes !
Who's in ?

No sparkling, except in the social and conversational sense!

mumwithdice · 09/02/2012 15:02

phew

DCgirl · 09/02/2012 15:25

Am I the only person who thinks a plot that is dependant on a gorgeous baby being killed is dodgy? (Seemed obvious to me that the Vampire Recorder misread the parchment due to the missing third and it actually said the baby must die to prevent the vampires taking over the world rather than the baby must live to prevent the vampires taking over the world, and that he was on George, Annie et al.'s side).

And why on Earth didn't the actress playing Nina come back just for an episode or two so we could have a birth scene and the sense of an ending? Her departure was just too sudden (it's crossed my mind she may have been sacked).

Not sure I'll be sticking with it in the long term but I will watch next week.

Missing Aidan Turner too.

wintera · 09/02/2012 21:28

I don't think she was sacked. The creator Toby posted a blog saying how gutted he was that she decided not to come back. She also issued a statement on twitter saying she had decided not to come back for series four. But I do agree with you though that there's prob more to it than we know. Maybe she has personal family or private reasons for leaving? Just a thought. Or maybe she thought they should have finished the whole thing after series three - don't suppose we'll ever know!

Blondeshavemorefun · 10/02/2012 07:46

finally watched and tbh gutted :(

its so not the same without mitchell and nina and now george going

QueenRunningGeekMum · 10/02/2012 10:42

I think they're trying to do the best they can in the circumstances, hopefully if we stick with it we'll warm to the newbies and the storylines will improve. I'm going to give it a few more episodes, think Sunday's was a bit rushed.

CalamityKate · 11/02/2012 16:17

It's like when there's a new Dr Who - I'm all "Oh I won't be bothering with it now - it won't be the same" and then I watch the new one and I'm all "Hmm, not bad" and within 3 more episodes I've forgotten the old one altogether (sorry David).

I'm horribly fickle Blush

javo · 13/02/2012 10:49

I thought last night's episode was much better than last weeks mess. Like the new Hal vampire - good possibilities with his ocd rituals etc. Annie was a bit OTT- not the same but still worth watching as so little on TV

EirikurNoromaour · 13/02/2012 11:13

I liked last night's. I did not like new ghost and I'm glad she left, Hal has potential but I do have a huge crush on Tom so I'm quite happy...

Blondeshavemorefun · 13/02/2012 21:55

i fell asleep in the middles of episode 2

never did that when george/mitchel and nina were in it :(

Valpollicella · 14/02/2012 00:24

Rewatch it Blondes.

I know the lack of visual stimulation Mitchell migjt not have helped but I reckon could be worth watching till the end of the series.

Least of all to see how they end it as very much doubt theyd get a further series after this one

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/02/2012 11:29

good thing it was on sky + lol

have re watched - still not that impressed tbh :(

CalamityKate · 14/02/2012 12:03

So if telling Leo she loved him was Pearl's unfinished business, she must have known him before she died, right? Because if she didn't, her door would have appeared and she'd have gone through it.

I wonder how/why she died.

javo · 15/02/2012 11:16

Calamity - you are right about Pearl - perhaps she is like Gilbert from series one who's unfinished business was that he had never (romantically)loved anyone and falling for Annie allowed him to resolve that issue - although he didn't hang around for 50+ years!

There do seem to be inconsistencies and new "rules" aplenty lately.

QueenRunningGeekMum · 16/02/2012 21:30

Just watched it today... Thought it was quite good. I like Hal Wink

rhondajean · 17/02/2012 20:12

I'm very impressed. Wasn't going to watch this series with no Mitchell and nina and George but then thought, Sunday night telly is rubbish and it's been your favourite programme of last few years - give it a go.

It is different, but I am not even really missing them at this point. I think the writers have done brilliantly.

noeyedear · 18/02/2012 11:14

I'm finding the baby killing thing a bit difficult too, I'm afraid. I keep thinking I should give it time to warm to the new cast, but don't think I can face the whole series of them trying to stop that tiny baby being killed by vampires! I don't think they will do it, but still...

Jennyrosity · 18/02/2012 13:36

I know what you mean noeyedear - I watched the first episode with my heart in my mouth and my 2 week old baby girl in my arms. Just in case I wasn't freaked out enough already, George then had to announce in his dying moments that "she's called Eve".

So is my DD Shock

plutocrap · 18/02/2012 14:13

She is a tiny baby, isn't shre/? I didn't think they were allowed to"act" that young!

beachhut · 18/02/2012 22:22

Just catching up on the first 2 episodes. Pedantic, but am really irritated by the way that baby seems to exist in a car seat, when it's standard advice they should be flat on their backs. Couldn't they have just had a Moses basket to move around.

Bit late, but glad to have got his poff my chest somewhere!

plutocrap · 19/02/2012 10:41

Totally agree, beachhut (although, to be a little more pedantic, she does have a cot - filled with blankets - and a hat to sleep in Confused). Maybe cot death will carry her off! Angry I'm sure Nina wouldn't have allowed all these cotraventions of the SIDS advice...

QueenRunningGeekMum · 19/02/2012 11:51

To be fair I don't think a ghost and a werewolf, neither of whom are the parents or expected to be looking after a baby, would have got the advice on car seats etc from the hvs! Wink was baby even born in hospital or was it a home birth? Was there medical attendance? Looks like we'll never know, unless there was a special obem episode...

Wonder what new things will happen tonight...

plutocrap · 19/02/2012 18:21

Of course they are cut off from the world! But Nina was a nurse, so the baby is lacking her medical input, as well as mothering Sad

I'm sure the baby must have been born at home, given they didn;t know what the hell it was going to look like!

CalamityKate · 20/02/2012 15:17

I loved last night's episode - very funny. Equally in love with Hal and Tom now.

Still feel there are some inconsistencies - eg Annie telling Regus there's no point biting her because she's a ghost. Why, then, was she so terrified when Fergus had her up against the wall with a knife to her throat in Ep2??

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 20/02/2012 16:26

She was terrified because she had hold of the baby - wasn't she?

I watched ep 2 and 3 last night so lines are blurred as to which is which

I thought that the introduction of Hal could have been done a bit better, why draw it out so long?

I'm liking it, it is very different without the sex god Mitchell but I'll survive.

I never like Nina, never warmed to her - she was the one character that annoyed me throughout so am quite pleased she's not in it.

I really enjoyed the last ep, there are so many ways this story can go - we're talking about a vamp, a ghost and a werewolf, leave your reasoning at the door and just go with it!

I LOL'd at the car seat comment as I thought the same and then immediately thought 'yes, she's being carried around by a ghost and co-cared for by a werewolf - OH and she's allegedly the saviour of the world.....car seat advice low on the list of priorities!' Grin

I personally think it is too obvious that the missing piece of skin alludes to the baby needing to die - does anybody else think it's a red herring?

Who said that grown-up Eve was a goodie? How do we not know that she had become a werewolf and was fighting for werewolf supremacy?

Oh and Elvis is so alive.....Wink
