I saw this in the week. Result v disappointing.

EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:18

'20 metre wide hole' bloody hell.

my dad's neighbour had such a hole in their garden after a collapse. happens all the time in Wigan..it just appeared overnight - one day flat turf - the next - 6ft hole!

Such a beautiful building in a magical setting too. And a very likeable couple.

EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:21

site archaeologist....my mate does that for a living.

he loves it and has been time team!

OP posts:
EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:23

yes i agree - they seem really lovely. some of the couples i end up really disliking (violin factory couple spring to mind - they were odious)

these seem just to want to create something beautiful and different in a location they love.

franke don't tell me ...

there is the possibility this could end up looking some recent build Neo-Cornwall style buildings

OP posts:
EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:27

I've been there! That's the mine museum in Redruth isn't it....
i think that's a 'man engine' machine - it works by pulling up a beam with steps attached - man jumps on a step and off at the top of a stroke, then on again, and off, all the way up to the surface with strokes of the engine...

OP posts:
EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:29

OP posts:
EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:32

but 2009...

my mums house was owned by a building surveyor. the wiring was wax-coated....(amongst other dangerous and annoying faults in the construction/fittings)

OP posts:
franke · 23/10/2011 20:36

Don't worry, I won't say a word. In fact this conversation you're having is much more interesting without me in it Grin

EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:37

pointing...that is going to take forever to dry ...

OP posts:
EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:39

OP posts:

Grin i like Grand designs. Dh isn't into it in the same way...i wonder why..

OP posts:
EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:44

Dh is getting excited about those giant tenon joins though.

'i love wood, it's fabulous'...

that carpenter was being super nice ...things not fitting is a major cause of non-payment in construction (with the usual hoo-hah of 'it was made to your spec' vs 'we can't use it' vz' 'we are long standing custmers can you not correct it in good will'...etc etc..)

OP posts:
EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:44

'put that kitchen in, and employ someone to clean it'

singing my song there Kevin.

EdlessAllenPoe · 23/10/2011 20:46
