one of my favourites next week!

mousyfledermaus · 02/11/2011 22:03

Hmm only 3 bedrooms in the b&b, they would need to be booked all through the year...
what do you recon? 3 in a bed next season?

befuzzled · 02/11/2011 22:05

lake windermere always busy tho?

FrozenChocolate · 02/11/2011 22:06

how come it cost half a million and yet they owe a million? did i misunderstand that?

befuzzled · 02/11/2011 22:21

he said their initial mortgage - I guess to buy the old house and money to build?, was 600K - not sure how he got that as you would need 2 healthy salaries surely? Did his wife work? - then some mysterious woman lent them 400K to finish it.

ColdSancerre · 02/11/2011 22:34

Just saying the same to DP. They'd have needed £150k joint annual income to get the initial mortgage, fair enough but a striggling designer (they never called him an architect so I guess he isn't a qualified one). Unless of course it was on the silly multiples before the recession.

I do hope that it all works out for them though as they're a nce couple and worked bloody hard on the build and it's stunning.

£175 per night - is that per couple? We've paid up to £100 per night in a b&b for the two of us before and that didn't have the stunning views and although it was nicely luxurious it wasn't as fabulous as their home. If it's £175 per couple per night I think that's OKish for what they're offering. I'd expect a LOVELY brekkie though.

It was there at the end with the kids in it. Another fab selling point for the B&B.

EdlessAllenPoe · 04/11/2011 20:04

They must have stonking heating: a house with large windows like that in the Lakes ....would cost a bomb to heat. the solar panels won't get that much due to the seemingly year-round cloud cover...

yes, i wondered why it only cost £500k yet they borrowed another £400k on top of their mortgage...

We just watched the one about the tin mine (I've got a couple on Sky+). Really liked the people who renovated it but a couple of things worried me.

(I haven't read any further down the thread as I didn't want spoilers on the ones I've not seen yet so forgive me if someone else asked these questions)

Firstly, they couldn't find the mine? What if the map was wrong? They've poured 200 tons of concrete in the wrong place and one day their house falls into a giant hole! Seems like quite a risk to me.

Secondly, the house with the two ground floor extensions looks like a giant penis. I can't be the only one to have noticed that?

mousyfledermaus · 09/11/2011 21:49

no one watching tonight?
waiting for the 2 year after reveal...

soupforthesoul · 09/11/2011 21:51

I would be terrified if an owl landed on that roof.

mousyfledermaus · 09/11/2011 22:00

I really like that house.

sozzledchops · 09/11/2011 22:02

Beautiful inside and what a view!

mousymouse · 16/11/2011 21:26

another bonkers one.
