I've just seen a segment from the new series on The Culture Show, Brix and Lund are the only characters reprising their roles and there are less episodes than the first series, but according to Sofie Grabol it's on a higher level and more in depth! Cannot wait until next month!!!

OP posts:

it's me again. i know, i know, obsessed!!!
but it's been nagging at me all day. i feel like i should have bilal at the top of my suspect list. he ordered books from the millitant group so would know where to go to order more stuff under an assumed name. he could have called himself "perk" while going mental in afghanistan out of total self-hate and it's all been covered up for political reasons. he has looked shifty at numerous critical points in the programme so far and he has been at the site of one of the killings (myg) if not more (was it him in a hoody with his gammy leg running away from the priest?)
so why do i feel like it can't be him??
it's more than just the counter-intuitive thing that if they are pointing the finger of suspicion at him then we are being misdirected. something just does not add up.
what if he had also spoken with anne? what if he had pointed her in the direction of anything he knew or had heard about what really happened in afghanistan? what if at myg's place he was not there to kill myg but had followed someone else there - and ditto with the priest? that he is another person trying to solve the puzzle and save his own skin in the process? that is nervousness is because he thinks he will be on the hitlist?
i'm probably completely wrong. it probably is bilal. but it just does not seem to add up right now for me...

teejwood · 04/12/2011 21:44

mousy goodness knows what they have in store for the next victims! if raben was the leader who lost his memory and mind maybe some convoluted see no evil, hear no evil type torture? or maybe dragging him behind something? but i am hoping the lovely jens will be in one lovely piece at the end of ep 10!! (preferably in the shower block or something, because, you know, he has been on the run for a few days and probably whiffs a bit...)

Wink
crunchbag · 04/12/2011 22:25

Maras2 :o

teej I know what you mean with Bilal. He seems an obvious suspect but it doesn't feel right.

icapturethecastle · 04/12/2011 23:07

I liked lund's v neck black jumper last night.

Funtimewincies · 05/12/2011 11:42

Hmmm, lots of good work Grin .

I watched the latest two episodes last night and I reckon...

  1. Jens is Perk's impersonator but is not the killer.
  2. Each victim appeared to have been tortured by the killer prior to death. Which leads to 3 possibilities... a) the killer wished them to know why they're being targeted b) the killer wished to get further information out of them. c) the killer wished it to look like revenge.

Scenario a) the killer is someone linked to Afganistan. This seems odd because it was the squad insisting that civilians were killed. If they were responsible, and there was no evidence, why insist that civilians were killed?

Scenario b) again, odd for the same reason.

Scenario c) Still thinking about this one Grin.

I'm also still the thinking about the husband's 'what have I done' line. Did he give information/blab about the lawyer's investigation?

Brain hurts now Sad.

Funtimewincies · 05/12/2011 11:44

Oh and Shock at the showers! Mind you, I've lead a very sheltered life Grin.

WowOoo · 05/12/2011 12:07

Can we be sure that Monberg topped himself again teejwood?

Someone could have pushed him or knocked him on the head.

I feel like I need to watch it all over again in case I missed something vital.

Loved the shower scene. Lund's eyes didn't stray down like mine would have done. She maintaned eye contact and refused to be intimidated. What a woman!

teejwood · 05/12/2011 14:00

wowooo you have a point - it almost looked like monberg was getting ready to see someone so maybe he was pushed?

teejwood · 05/12/2011 14:13
Xmas Grin

funtime i have wondered about whether jens might have gone postal and been perk but that would mean the rest of his team were lying to cover up for him (not outwith the bounds of possibility) - but in which case why were they trying to speak up about the ill treatment of civilians, dropping him in it? Also the testimony we heard from Thomsen seemed to indicate that jens was with them when they got the message about perk.

the method of killings is deeply personal, i feel, so i'd go with c) revenge!

teejwood · 05/12/2011 14:16

sorry pressed send before i finished the thought about thomson - unless she was lying of course - and she was mightily concerned about dropping jens when they got to the jetty; was she worried he was about to go mental again? does she suspect he might have been behind the killings? or was she genuinely just hoping that if they went their separate ways that one of them would survive? it just seemed odd

Blackduck · 05/12/2011 15:50

I took Thomson literally - she wanted them to separate because she felt it was best for Raben. He is in trouble, she would be let off.

I loved Plough and whatshername arguing - just kept thinking of Buch's comment 'he could do with a roll in the hay' and thought yes, that's spot on....
Brix had to get rid, his funeral or hers he was told....but the line about 'Tell them she's at a wedding' implied, to me, that he knew she wouldn't let it go!

redroof · 05/12/2011 20:11

Well, well what a great two episodes. Totally captivated throughout, here.

Funtimewincies · 05/12/2011 20:28

You're right Teej, ignore everything I said up-thread, my theory doesn't stand up to scrutiny. The Defence Minister did it and that's my final word Grin!

teejwood · 05/12/2011 22:18

no funtime - i was agreeing with you, honestly! there is a possibility that the team were lying either about jens individually or the whole thing. he obviously went apeshit to end up being locked up - but was it in afghanistan, denmark or both? was he the cause of the killings because he went crazy in afghanistan or was it what he saw there - and how badly he was injured - that led to his mental deterioration back home?

i will concede that rossing the rat (loving that, redroof!) is probably capable of anything though and knows a lot more than he is letting on. i swear i expect his head to start swivelling or a lizard tongue to escape from his lips or something every time he appears on screen

blackduck yy i loved the argument between plough and karina! i thought it was such an insight into both of them but especially plough's character and loved that he was trying to challenge marina and bring her on! he cannot be a baddie, he's too much of a stickler

Blackduck · 06/12/2011 07:29

My insomniac three o'clock musings...
Teejwood I think there is mileage in your analysis of the killings. Someone did lose the plot in Afghanistan. It was hushed up. The one who knows most is, conveniently, the one who remembers least - raban. Lawyer wanted to open case up again - this makes her a traitor - they all have to be stopped. But who? The father? Maybe he wasn't in Kabul as he claimed (have they checked? - cue Check the Files Lund!) and he went nuts and all the others are covering for him?

diddl · 06/12/2011 07:36

If it was revenge-why not just kill "Perk"?

Surely there is something that they all know/saw-or someone thinks that-otherwisw why kill them all?

Blackduck · 06/12/2011 08:51

Not revenue IMO - but a cover up....

crunchbag · 06/12/2011 10:04

We need more info about Perk. Was his death an accident, suicide or murder? Or more importantly how did the killer get hold of his dogtag?

diddl · 06/12/2011 10:21

Have I got this right-Perk died before he supposedly "went mad" in Afghan?

But it wasn´t him who killed some members of Raban´s squad?

Just had a thought that the false Perk was sent out there to kill the squad iyswim-but I don´t think that that works.

teejwood · 06/12/2011 10:49

diddl - the revenge is either a) for the team going batshit and committing atrocities in afghanistan or more likely b) testifying that something terrible did happen there (thus betraying their fellow military comrades involved in covering it up)

blackduck thank you for that callback to series 1 - all of us screaming "read the bloody files!!!!" at the tv - good times Xmas Grin

agree about perk, crunch - but i have a feeling we're going to be kept in the dark about some of that stuff for a while yet as it will probably give the game away Xmas Wink

teejwood · 06/12/2011 11:02

diddl - kind of depends upon whether we have a "false perk" in afghanistan, someone acting "in the name of perk" or being delusional that they are perk, or whether it is in fact "perker" - a muslim soldier whose roots lie in that part of the world, which points towards Bilal.

one possible theory is that Bilal was the soldier who went bonkers but Sogaard covered everything up - and is continuing to do so now by disposing of all the people who can say otherwise! the government would be complicit in the cover up because they swallowed Sogaard's version of events and promoted him to major, and they would not want it to come out that a muslim soldier went bats on operations as it would a) enable right-wingers like Krabbe to call into question the participation of muslims in Denmark's armed forces and b) enable the same bunch of loons to blame Bilal for the deaths of several Danish soldiers - thus inflaming relations between communities within Denmark.

so the government would not want the true circumstances to be revealed so either they have tasked the military (Sogaard) with covering up their own cover-up by getting rid of Jens' team (collateral damage, politicians won't get their hands dirty as Sogaard said to Lund) or he is just doing it off his own bat.

that all assumes it is sogaard, of course, rather than some dark secret in Strange's past Xmas Wink

teejwood · 06/12/2011 11:05

when you think about it, a cover up is actually more likely if Jarnvig was in Kabul for a meeting. no doubt sogaard is an ambitious career soldier. he was "acting up" in Jarnvig's absence and if men were lost and war crimes took place "on his watch", it would no doubt have had a detrimental impact on his prospects for promotion etc..
Xmas Hmm

Funtimewincies · 06/12/2011 19:43

Plough is possibly gay?

Funtimewincies · 06/12/2011 19:45

no funtime - i was agreeing with you, honestly!

Teej - I'm disagreeing with myself now Grin. I still think that the defence minister is well dodgy!

aloiseb · 09/12/2011 00:12

I feel it might be Jens, and therefore we will be lucky to see him in the shower Biscuit.

1.Jens said to his wife "it's not what you think". He is acting so oddly that I really can't make him out at all.
2.Thomsen didn't trust him (ie wanted him to paddle his own kayak)
3.He is the obvious person to have planted the explosives on her boat. How would anybody from the barracks have got there? it's not even in the same country.
4.It looked mighty like him in the dark deserted warehouse church at the end
[clutching at straws]
I think he's doing it all, I just wish I understood why. Xmas Confused

Priest's crucifixion put me right off my tea, btw.
