Just started watching it - seems really good already. Fred West (actor) is very good at making me feel very uncomfortable.

Anyone know if first episode is to be repeated during the week? (I cant get I player-I'm abroad)

HazeltheMcWitch · 05/09/2011 22:47

It says it's to be shown on 2 ITV regions on Sunday:

  • ITV1 (STV North) 9:00pm Sun 11
  • ITV1 (South East Plus 1) 10:00pm Sun 11 Sep

Not sure if you can get this? Otherwise, have you ever used proxy VPN?

festi · 05/09/2011 22:48

that is the second part hazel

HazeltheMcWitch · 05/09/2011 22:52

Doh! That'll teach me to trust the stupid TV Guide website!
Did not even question it.

scarlettsmummy2 · 05/09/2011 23:02

I thought it was enthralling. But waiting for the nightmares to start!

I read a particularly shocking article about Roses life in prison now, apparently she has been having sexual relations with the mother of baby p, and is on a wing with several other high profile child killers. Although this was the Daily MAil so I am taking it with a pinch of salt.

festi · 05/09/2011 23:06

i would hate to even consider that scarlett.

scarlettsmummy2 · 05/09/2011 23:11

Just googled it, several other papers reported it too. I don't normally think corporal punishment is a good thong but for them I would make an exception!

MorelliOrRanger · 06/09/2011 08:19

I watched this on ITV player last night - my goodness Dominic West was superb in the role. Very chilling indeed.

I feel so sorry for Janet she's in such a hard place :(

I read somewhere she couldn't look at Dominic on set as he was so like FW and it gave her shivers whenever she was near him.

festi · 06/09/2011 08:47

I dont feel that sorry for janet, I did at some points in the drama, however, I do feel that she chose to remain involved and she could have walked away as she did not have any proffessional otr moral obligation not to, she was adviced to in some ways wither line manager and the polices attempts to pull her out. Not sure why she didnt.

MrsBradleyCooper · 06/09/2011 09:55

She also kept in touch with him in prison right up until his death.
Perhaps it was some sort of morbid fascination or she was trying to find out why he did the things he did?
Who knows. Maybe we will find out on Sunday.

campocaro · 06/09/2011 11:45

oh well, back in Uk on Monday so hoping I can catch up with both episodes then.

HeifferunderConstruction · 07/09/2011 15:22

its wierd me & DP actually found ourselves laughing in the first interview

festi · 11/09/2011 21:03

aristocat · 11/09/2011 21:13

me i am watching Smile

festi · 11/09/2011 21:17

he is actually quite comical in an undiscerning kind of way.

Mrsfluff · 11/09/2011 21:19

I'm watching

HazeltheMcWitch · 11/09/2011 21:26

I also am watching.

Fab fact - the lady copper was the "the wa'er in Majorca don't taste like wha' i' ough'a" advert actress from a long time ago.

aristocat · 11/09/2011 21:28

it is very scary but i cant stop watching either

Rollergirl1 · 11/09/2011 21:34

There definitely was somewhat of a comedy element to the interviews in last weeks episode.

Why is she helping him fgs? I heard that she (Janet) was also of fairly low intelligence. She was no way qualified to have those kind of conversations with him! It's absurd!

festi · 11/09/2011 21:36

I take it janet was involved in the making of the program, it is obviouse that her reflection of him is being depicted in a very biased manner.

lovecorrie · 11/09/2011 21:36

I'm enjoying it, but I really do find him too 'likeable', iykwim. It's all a bit odd.

festi · 11/09/2011 21:38

x post lovecorrie, I wonder if it is because her was vulnerable and rose was orchestarting him in a way, or because this programe is just from the POV of janet.

Rollergirl1 · 11/09/2011 21:42

But I do remember the reporting of the case at the time and it was very much geared towards Rose being the mastermind and him being her lapdog.

GetOrfMoiSamsungFridgeFreezer · 11/09/2011 21:56

I am finding this very difficult to watch.

Yes it is acted very well but it seems so...I can't think of the word, but too soon to dramatise such a hideous story when the family of the West still live and work in Gloucester, and have to live with all these memories.

The acting is brilliant, but it is very unsavoury imo.
