Psychological thriller with John Simm, Jim Broadbent, Olivia Colman and Clair Goose. - I'm looking forward to this, it looks really good. Creator is Paul Abbot (Shameless, Clocking Off, and State of Play) although it doesn't look as if he did the actual writing. Can't wait Smile

I thought it was good, promising!

KurriKurri · 01/05/2011 23:01

I enjoyed it too, maybe a little slow at the start, but really picked up as it got going. I love Olivia Colman, she's great.

Really good tonight. Jim Broadbent is superb.

KurriKurri · 02/05/2011 10:46

They've got a really good cast together for this, Timothy West I think appears tonight. I thought the sibling relationship between Tom and Nancy was well portrayed too.

I so enjoyed this and can't wait for tonights episode. Fantastic stuff! So refreshing to see Olivia Coleman in a more serious role and holding her own perfectly - she's a great actress as well as a comedienne Grin

EauRouge · 02/05/2011 15:02

I liked it, can't wait for part 2 tonight! Olivia Coleman is fab.

amberleaf · 02/05/2011 15:08

Was really looking forward to it..found it too slow and gave up.

Im guessing i should have stuck withit then?

teahouse · 02/05/2011 15:53

I loved it - watched it with my son and we are hooked - can't wait for tonight's episode - what is that secret!

Jim Broadbent is just amazing and I love Jon Simm - a fantastic actor. You are right about Coleman - she really held her own.

What a great peice of writing.

AnonymousBird · 02/05/2011 15:54

I had meant to give this a shameless plug, but you beat me to it, as Olivia is our very good mate and I am so pleased to see her in something so different and really deep....

Enjoyed last night's episode, can't wait for tonight's......

Amberleaf - DH thought this the first half hour or so, but by the end of the hour's episode he was absolutely gripped and was gutted that we had to wait another day for the next episode!!!! Catch up on iplayer......

KurriKurri · 02/05/2011 16:08

AnonymousBird - I think Olivia is so brilliant in comedy, but it is fantastic to see her in a more serious role, - I a big fan Smile

Ok. im going to watch it on i player now!

coldcomfortHeart · 02/05/2011 16:21

Really enjoyed this last night, I haven't seen Olivia Coleman in anything else but thought she was fantastic, very natural and believable.

It's a weird mix though, at times funny, others desperately sad, and I jumped out of my skin when the dad suddenly appeared!

strandednomore · 02/05/2011 17:12

Oooh I thought of Mumsnet while watching this as I remembered someone saying they knew Olivia Coleman on another thread about 2012. I think she's great too. Liked yesterday's episode, looking forward to tonight's.

suburbophobe · 02/05/2011 18:48

Saw it last night and was riveted, not only a great drama but comes close to home as my mum has alzheimers..... (and not many programmes highlight it, unless a health-type thing).

Curiousmama · 02/05/2011 18:50

What else will I have seen Olivia in as didn't really recognise her?
Loved Exile though, can't wait for 9pm.

Curiousmama · 02/05/2011 18:51

sorry to hear that suburbophobe Sad My aunt has parkinson's and dementia which came on suddenly, horrific Sad

KurriKurri · 02/05/2011 18:55

suburbophobe - sorry to hear about your mum, - I am in the same situation with my Dad. - I always hesitate slightly over programmes that feature the illness, but thought I'd try this because the cast looked so good - glad I did Smile

Curiousmama, Olivia has been in Peep Show, Green Wing, amongst other things, she was also in the film 'Hot Fuzz' if you've seen that Smile

Ohhh the twist tonight. Do you think thats his half sister (claire Goose) he's shagging??? Because, did I miss here her when she said that her mum worked at the mental institute, or as usual I'm on the complete wrong track?

AnonymousBird · 02/05/2011 22:28

Juat watched it - gets better and better!!! Absolutely hooked in this house.

Go Colly, go! Smile

Suburbophobe and Kurri - sorry to hear about your parents. Several times in this programme I have been very taken aback/shocked at the illness and just wondered what on earth I would do in that situation. I cannot imagine. Dealing with it for real must be extremely tough.
