I miss it too, any ideas what to watch next? Tried FlashForward which is supposed to be LOST-like but it just doesn't compare :(

CherryPie3 · 01/04/2011 14:04

We watched 24 and Prison Break before lost and they were good. Not as good, but good :)

Supernatural is meant to be good but I'm not into ghosts (nightmares at 26y - honestly!). Currently watching season one of 'House' which is fab but in a different way as it's as House is a v.sarcastic doctor - very funny!

no was to your title btw - I'm not totally blunt & rude Smile
I was bored after the 1st series. THink it could have been a little cult jewel if it hadn't dragged on & on & on & on & on. 3 series would have been fine

CherryPie3 · 01/04/2011 14:30

Oh well that's ok then Wink

I thought season 4 & 5 were a little too strange with the 3yrs forward 3years ago, 30years ago....

Still hooked on it tho Grin

Wish there were more to watch....

I loved it and it is very hard to replace. FlashForward was OK but it was only one season long which is always a let down.
The Event is awful- I started watching it but gave up pretty soon.

I guess Fringe is turning out to be the closest thing to Lost to me (in the supernatural way). It's getting seriously good after a first season which was more a case-by-case type of show.

Ephiny · 01/04/2011 17:23

The Event was truly terrible, I gave up too after a few episodes as the central characters were so dull and annoying and I just did not care what happened to them. Plus the 'telling the story backwards' gimmick - ok at first but after a while when they couldn't even show someone going out to buy a pint of milk or whatever without doing it all backwards in dramatic flashbacks, it got really quite irritating. And padded out with endless repetition of scenes we'd already seen at least once to cover up the lack of actual content and narrative.

Heroes was OK but not as good as Lost and didn't really seem to go anywhere in the end...

I might try Prison Break and Fringe, have heard good things about them. Everyone seemed to love 24 but I didn't really 'get' it.

anonacfr · 01/04/2011 17:29

I loved the first 3 seasons of 24- the characters were interesting and the storyline (although ridiculous) was at least coherent. And they respected the clock timeline which was the whole concept of the series.
From season 4 onwards it got increasingly 'gimmicky' (deaths, tortures, one plot contrivance after another) and the whole 24 premise became pathetic- driving across the whole of Manhattan in about 5 mns etc.
And Jack Bauer became a walking caricature.

Prison Break's first season was really good. I stopped watching after that so can't tell you more.

I'd totally forgotten about Heroes- I loved the first season but lost interest after that.

They're about to re-show The Walking Dead on 5. It's a great zombie apocalypse show with Andrew Lincoln- gory but very good!

And the new series of V isn't bad. They've started showing the second season on SyFy.

If you like Fantasy from mid-April onwards Game of Thrones is going to be shown on Sky Atlantic. Not sure if it'll be any good but the previews look great and having read the book a few years back it's definitely worth it.

BubblesMyBubbles · 01/04/2011 17:33

I did miss it. Then Mum bought me the box set for Christmas. Currently on Series 1, Episode 5 :D

Couldnt get on with Flash Forward (watched until they saw the 'cloaked man' in the Stadium on CCTV, when everyone else was out of it, then got thoroughly dis-interested)

Ephiny · 01/04/2011 17:37

I am VERY excited about Game of Thrones (loved the books) though might have to wait a while longer for the DVD as we don't have Sky :(. Have seen the trailer on and it looks good!

I think it's just rare that something so good (in my opinion) comes along. Before Lost I loved Battlestar Galactica, and before that it was probably Buffy (going back quite a few years here!).

anonacfr · 01/04/2011 17:42

Re Game of Thrones, you know there are other ways.... Grin

You should watch The Walking Dead! It was really cool.

Voddy · 01/04/2011 17:49

I loved Lost, despite it's flaws. I recommend Battlestar Galactica - it is fantastic. We love Lost, Battlestar Galactica, 24, Prison Break, Spartacus and Supernatural - the last two are incredibly cheesey (in different ways) and know it.

West Wing is apparently excellent but I havent watched it yet.

AlwaysbeOpralFruitstome · 01/04/2011 17:50

I miss it and am v. Envy at Bubbles box set - would love to watch it all again from the start to see what I missed first time around.

I lost interest with Flashforward after they had that break in the middle of the season (motherhood has seriously impaired my ability to follow and hold a story line for more than....well about 3 seconds).

I used to like Stargate SG1 and watched all the boxsets when pregnant and convalescing after having with DS1 which were entertaining without being remotely challenging.

cookielove · 01/04/2011 17:55

Lost - when Ben is pleading to go with jack (i think) because no one else will take him, and how he gave himself to the island and Jacob, and trusted Jacob wouldn't let his daughter die but she did

I watch Fringe to, it really annoyed me in the beginning when they had no patience for Walter, er hello been living in isolation for years, grrrr to Olivia.

The3Bears · 01/04/2011 17:59

I miss it loads, got the boxset so persuading dp to watch it again with me :)

CherryPie3 · 01/04/2011 18:16

There were so so many weepy moments!

We have all the DVDs here so think I may feed my addiction by watching them all again.....reckon I'll probably notice more things too second time round :)

catinthehat2 · 01/04/2011 19:47

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA! oh yes

did anyone watch Caprica? fantastic, but true cult stuff, was canned after ?2 series I think.

I became a huge fan of Eric Stoltz much to my amazement

anonacfr · 01/04/2011 20:24

See I tried getting into Battlestar Galactica when they repeated it recently on Sky Atlantic but couldn't.
I like the premise but found all the characters really dull. Same with Caprica.

lucykate · 01/04/2011 20:27

nope, don't miss lost. i watched all 6 series religiously, finale was a huge letdown imo. was such a cop out. from series 1, everyone said, oh they'll be in some kind of purgatory. writers said, no that would be lame etc. and what do you know, lame ending.

outofthefryingpan · 01/04/2011 20:39

Yes I do.

I kept the last episode on SKY+ for several months until my husband persuaded me to finally let go.

Strangely, I got hooked on BBC's Outcasts while it lasted until they decided to can it.

Currently a yawning chasm exists in my life waiting to be filled by another enigmatic yet ultimately unfulfilling apocalyptic survival drama.

anonacfr · 01/04/2011 22:10

The Walking Dead!!!!

I also liked Outcasts (we must be the only 2 people in Britain who did).
