Bring your notebooks, your whiteboards, your clipboards, your pens, your tape measures and your waterways maps to solve the problem of what happened to Nanna Birk Larsen.

Didn't Amir say to Troels he'd been in London (sent away by his father?)

KnitterNotTwitter · 14/03/2011 15:43

Yes Amir had been in London for 3 years as a student...

I assumed Amir had come back in AUgust (when they met again) and then gone back and they had been corresponding by mail (hence all the letters in the globe (athough surely these days the average student would use a phone or email!!).

The Turkish dad might well have kept him out of the way, as he would have been ashamed that his son wanted to pull out of the wedding, and had been involved with Nana. And telling Theis he need moving was just an excuse to tell him on his own, maybe?

Perhaps there will be an old church or something out in the woods, with a concrete floor)? (Still banging on taken with the biblical ending)

Blackduck · 14/03/2011 16:23

Proles - no idea and he had come back to fly away with her that weekend (two names on the passanger list remember?) So where the hell has he been for 20 days........Surely he must have his own ideas about what happened.

KnitterNotTwitter · 14/03/2011 16:29

I thought that the wedding was Amir/Nanna wedding not another one....

That would be too 'small-world'-ish wouldn't it...? And I got the impression that she was rescued from a marriage that she'd already been arranged into and which had gone bad - not that she was about to be arranged married...

Mind you not all Turkish people are Muslims and not all Muslims practice arranged marriage...

muminlondon · 14/03/2011 16:50

Of course. Why else would Nanna have been visiting Rama that night? He was helping all three of them.

Rama could also have been acting as a go-between with Amir's father. We never found out who he was talking to on the phone, and we still don't know enough about his past.

Just skim-read the latest Guardian thread (I'm a bit scared of spoilers) and someone pointed out that Leon appeared in episode 10. You really do have to pay attention, don't you?

Fivecentsplease · 14/03/2011 19:20

I think there were other removal men in the background in episode 1, loading vans and stuff, and obviously he appeared as the taxi driver, so he's not totally new.

staranise · 14/03/2011 19:56

Still think it's Troels - nothing else justifies his amount of air-time especially as Sofie Grabol confirmed you-know-what in the Observer interview (minor plot spoiler).

Plus do you remember that throwaway question Sarah Lund asked him about how he'd left the flat on the Friday evening and he siad the lift, even though it was out of order?

Hmmm....

mdorph · 14/03/2011 20:09

Oh so glad to find you all! Finally a show that make me a bit more proud to be Danish! Thought noone else was watching after failing to convince my (Scottish) husband to watch something with subtitles. I remember being banned from calling my family on a Sunday evening when this was on tv - at least we are only having to wait 10 weeks in total vs the original 20! Now they are banned from telling me any spoilers! Havent read the whole thread but well done all for the thorough investigatiobs being carried out here - wonder who is right!!

Fivecentsplease · 14/03/2011 20:14

Here is a guardian article from yesterday, not sure if it has been added already - it may be has a teeny weeny hint-ish but it isn't anything we haven't already torn to shreds and jumped up and down on already.....

Hi Mdorph. Pull up a chair, find yourself a notebook, and you can hang your jumper up over there (make sure it's named, to save any confusion) Smile

teej · 14/03/2011 20:28

evening everyone!
how has the NW MNer stalk-a- bengt/troels/meyer- a-like been going today? Wink
hello mdorph how have you resisted this for so long if your family watched it a few years ago?! god they must be great at keeping spoilers!!

right not quite sure where we are but the biblical comment seems interesting - thanks for the info stressy

also loving your biblical/baptism theories fivecents. could it also be the return of the prodigal son? forgiveness for crimes? lots of people going off the paths of righteousness who maybe need to return to the fold?

  • troels' lack of faith led him to want to die; he comes back because he remembers he wants to fight corruption and make a difference
  • amir wanted to run away from his family to be with nanna; he will need to return to them and possibly go ahead with the planned marriage?
  • theis believed he doled out justice to bad people when he was younger, but realises that in itself is not good; will he leave it to the police to mete out justice to his daughter's killer?
  • will Lund end up re-establishing the personal relationships she has sacrificed for this investigation?
  • will bremer do the decent thing, admit his shady dealings and step down, but in so doing regain troels' respect?
teej · 14/03/2011 20:31

LOVING the connection between Rama, Nanna and Amir. Oh it would make so much sense if Rama was trying to mediate for them with Amir's family. That would explain what he has been hiding! Remember that call he took/made at the hospital after Theis had been to see him? What if he was calling Amir or Amir's dad to say that Theis still knew nothing of the planned elopement??

teej · 14/03/2011 20:32

should have added - so Amir wasn't a suspect or about to get his head smashed in by an angry theis...

teej · 14/03/2011 20:38

proles think the "whore" comment was because holck was so bitter.

he was totally obsessed with nanna; the relationship put him at a financial and career disadvantage (he was having to keep Olav schtum and dance to bremer's tune) and wrecked whatever there was of his marriage so he was having only occassional access to his children. then she drops him and breaks his heart - but he still loves her enough to try stop her leaving the country.

whore was nasty, vindictive and out of order but what's that saying about a fine line between love and hate?

teej · 14/03/2011 20:44

not sure if i've said this before but i think the necklace will have been mette's. do we think they will find a body?

teej · 14/03/2011 20:47

google i think the latvia trip will be about money rather than sex. just think money has been another thread recently and the fact that bremer is head of the finance committee would make it tie in. maybe backhanders to award a local contract or something? that would also explain why he and dessau left holck and went off somewhere.
OH! or maybe they were sequestering City funds in a personal bank account of sorts (did they even stay in Latvia or did they hot foot it to Geneva for a day?!)

teej · 14/03/2011 20:48

crap i'm in "the killing incident room pondering to yourself in full view of others" mode Blush
