i definately think she saw what happened. i think alices grandad was abusing olive and alice saw it. the way she hit the water (bum dow) suggests that she was thrown in rather than fell, so alice ran, he caught her, panicked and threw her into the water. lots of talk about her being a good girl etc.

aitch, spoilsport!

lovecorrie · 20/02/2011 16:54

Similar to my chain of thought then....

OracleInaCoracle · 20/02/2011 20:36

yep, i just think theres something off about the granddad. i feel so bad for ruth. had to laugh though when they were having their tests, dh once moaned about his sperm test when i was having dye shoved through my tubes. i was furious and told him this was the least he could do!

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2011 22:48

could her hubby not be the dad of alice?

as had low sperm and beat the odds once ....

OracleInaCoracle · 20/02/2011 22:57

do you mean ruths dad is olives dad or the grandad is alices? maybe ruth and her fil were having an affair! either way, alice is getting a bit naughty isnt she?

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/02/2011 23:14

Possibly both lol

Olives dad is never mentioned

There's def something dodgy about grandad/ruths dad - why else have them in the programme?

Surely if he was with her for a walk he should feel guilty

grumpypants · 21/02/2011 08:52

I think the spirit thing doing all the nasty stuff will be someone else and not Alice. Why would she want to scald the baby? Def some weird link between Olive going deaf and seeing what happened to Alice.

breakfastbiscuit · 21/02/2011 11:47

did i dream that olive said she went deaf at 4 due to meningitis or measles?

plus she was able to sign to the mum shortly after alices death when the mum visited the graveyard, she would have needed to pick up sign language really quickly to do that.

i think the mum was having a affair, that would explain "beating the odds" and also there was a refrence to the mum going to evening classes (could have been a cover up for her affair) and also the dad geting angry and shouting where were you at the mum in one episode like she was unaccounted for or something.

i did wonder if maybe the mum and father in law were at it but then the mum would have needed to have been in on alices death wich is unlikly.

OracleInaCoracle · 21/02/2011 14:11

olive was definately already deaf when alice died, but im certain that she was there. she also said to mark (2010 dad) in 1987 that not many people knew she could speak. if she was being abused by the fil that would make a lot of sense from a "she cant tell anyone" point of view"

I cant wait til thursday now!

pinklaydee · 21/02/2011 15:10

I love it and can't wait for this week! Glad that there's no footie on to clash with it! I thought the FIL at first, but there must be a link with Olive after the steamy mirror.
Find the present day mum a bit annoying - why hasn't she quizzed her hubby about the house? Surely he knew that people would remember him, coming from such a small place?

lovecorrie · 21/02/2011 18:22

Yes she's a bit irritating isn't she?

There's still something quite sinister about Alice (1st) Mum I think. Did she know about the affair that I think may have been happening between Ruth and FIL?

I know some who has seen the whole thing; he is the agent of one of the main characters. He is complete git. Refuses to reveal anything, but says 'we won't be disappointed'....Gee thanks Smile

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/02/2011 10:43

DH is away tonight so has asked me not to watch til tomorrow Sad

SingleHappyMummy · 24/02/2011 11:30

Ken that means I have Dean Andrews all to myself tonight, yay! I'll try not to wear him out with my lusting so that you can have your go tomoz Grin

lovecorrie · 24/02/2011 12:58

I really don't see the attraction...!

MadreInglese · 24/02/2011 13:04

I'm really enjoying this and looking forward to tonight's episode

I just don't think it can be the grandad though, it seems far to obvious - a bit of a red herring IMO

The grandma on the other hand.....

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/02/2011 14:16

You can have a loan of Dean, only if I can have him back tomorrow!

lovecorrie · 24/02/2011 17:55

Please will someone tell me what is so gorgeous about him?!

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/02/2011 19:38

He's not really gorgeous. Just has incredible eyes and is strangely sexy. Like a weird crush!

lovecorrie · 24/02/2011 20:04

I see. Hmm I suppose my wierd crush on des o conner (since I was about 5) could be construed as a bit odd too...

KenDoddsDadsDog · 24/02/2011 20:46

Ha ha not Des! That's really funny.

expatinscotland · 24/02/2011 21:08
