Arse! Dh normally goes out on Thursday but he isn;t tonight. Which means I will have to keep explaining things to him as he hasn't seen any of them. Would it be really bad to gag him or lock him out of the room?

grumpypants · 03/03/2011 16:05

ooooh let's have a vote on the culprit:

  1. Olive
  2. Tragic accident
  3. Alice's dad
  4. Ruth
  5. Alice's granddad
  6. Alice's granny

I vote 2....withnessed by Olive

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/03/2011 16:11

Just gag him and don't worry about it!

FooffyShmoofffer · 03/03/2011 16:18

I agree 2. Caused by her seeing something she shouldn't and legging it. Olive witness.

Hadn't consideed 6?? Mmmmm she is a creepy old moo isn't she?

orm have you no jobs around the house that need doing? cupboards that need sorting. Last resort, gag.

OracleInaCoracle · 03/03/2011 16:43

i was thinking today. perhaps the mil confronted olives mum and fil while they were doing the nasty, olive and alice were playing and alice saw/heard everything. mil saw her and chased alice into the woods. caught her by the lake, shook her ands alice fell in.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2011 17:06

maybe they all chased alice apart from ruth and therefore ALL AT BLAME Grin

i really dont know, must have something to do with grandparents or else they wouldnt be in the 5 episodes at all iyswim - ie ruth and alices dad (if he is her dad) would live on their own

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2011 17:07

Ormirian - gag dh or give him beer :) or send upstairs :)

my dh has watched it with me and still asks things, thanks gawd for sky+ as then i pause or rewind a few secs

OracleInaCoracle · 03/03/2011 17:08

agree blondes. and mil is such an old bat, could see her losing her rag!

starfleet · 03/03/2011 17:09

Ormirian - make him watch all the previous episodes on i-player before tonight's episode comes on Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2011 17:12

she really is isnt she lissie worse than my milWink

im still doubful at olives age,as she was/is the same age as alice, thus making her 45ish and is a lo tolder than hubby in 2010

what was the point of having the brother of family 2 (80's) run the shop in 2010? he hasnt been in it anymore,so a useless character

OracleInaCoracle · 03/03/2011 17:15

hmm, do you think that amy dies in the final episode and the brothers role is to tell mark and nisha what happened when he lived there?

agree re olives age though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/03/2011 17:17

maybe lissie ......

why does no one google who lived in their house before them, once they find painting/diary etc

PictureThis · 03/03/2011 17:19

I'm on night shift tonight so will have to sky+ it....bugger.

grumpypants · 03/03/2011 17:29

omg! Maybe alice is olive and that's the age difference thing?

lovecorrie · 03/03/2011 17:32

I am overly and completely out-of-propotionally excited about tonight - this is the first time in aeons I've watched a whole 'series'. Last one was 'Bouquet of Barbed Wire' and that was shit compared to the 70's one Grin.
My heart actually started beating faster when I realised what day it was...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 03/03/2011 17:35

Waves to all Marchland fans

DH is away tonight so I'm thinking I might watch this in bed and turn all the lights off

< screams >

scurryfunge · 03/03/2011 17:35

I am so incredibly lazy and don't want to read back through the thread. I missed last week's episode, so could anyone explain to me in about one sentence what happened please [begging emoticon]

amy's dad saw ghost-of-alice too, got priest round to do exorcism - mum wnet nuts and that's why amy ran away.

still no word why amy's brother is in the corner shop being mysterious.

2010 dad had a baby with Olive back in the 80s (he didn't know she was pregnant when he went away to uni). Olive implied the baby died, but not sure.

detachandtrustyourself · 03/03/2011 18:02

I think it's 2. as well, witnessed by Olive. MIL and Olive's Mum thought Olive pushed her in, even though she didn't, hence burning of coat. MIL used this to stop Olive's Mum continuing affair with FIL (said she would report it if they carried on).

80's brother must be running shop for a reason to the plot.

80's Mum saying it is not scooby doo is relevant. In scooby doo, it always seems to be ghostly, but at the end they find out it is a person making it seem ghostly for some reason.

Music box opening is not ghost of Alice, it is Ruth, going in to house through secret passage and opening it to feel closer to Alice. Hot water pouring out is due to faulty water system. Somebody knows Olive knows, so wrote on mirror with a waxy substance, so steam clearing leaves writing ASKOR.

detachandtrustyourself · 03/03/2011 18:05

At the end, Ruth finds out what really happened, so Alice can rest in peace and stops haunting.

MIL gets some sort of come uppance and so does FIL.

lovecorrie · 03/03/2011 18:09

a1b2 - nooooooooo!

scurryfunge · 03/03/2011 18:17

Thanks everyone. Can't wait.

Ballarat · 03/03/2011 18:24

Re Mark (2010 hubby) age:

-Scott told Nisha that Mark was a couple of years older than him.
-In bed in the first/second ep, 80s couple said Scott was born in 1972 which puts Mark's DOB at 1970, making him 40 in 2010.
