What did you think? It's all very Battlestar Galactica isn't it? And not just because of Lee Adama being in it. Stylistically almost an exact rip of the episodes set on New Caprica. Hmm, I think I'm going to enjoy it but we'll have to see if they take it in a different enough direction from here on out.

I wasn't keen - the dialogue wasn't great. And I guess it doesn't help that they have to explain everything so the audience knows what's going on.

UnquietDad · 07/02/2011 22:37

I didn't think it was that bad... will watch tomorrow.

Best bit, though:

Ros: "Your job is -"
Grim-Faced Loose Cannon: "Don't tell me what my job is!"
(Audience: "No! Go on! Tell him what his job is! Because we're buggered if we know!")
Ros: "Your job is to explore and record the planet."

Hello, Mr Set-Up. I'm Mrs Exposition.

(Yes, I know she's not called Ros.)

Although I did keep expecting a bloke in a pinstripe suit and Converse to saunter into the settlement, and alternate between grim-faced anger and a bit of "Gaaaah, hew-mans, eh? Heeeeew-mans. You're brrrilliant, aren' t you? Coming out here, building all this... Jus' brilliant. I mean, completely mad and stupid and foolhardy, but all the same, jus' brrrrrilliant."

I liked So Solid Crew man

It was a leetle hammy
UQD, do you have a crush on Ros as well as Sarah HArding?

slartybartfast · 07/02/2011 22:40

i wont be able to watch part 2 due to my big fat gypsy wedding. but i am not sure if i will mind

AnyFucker · 07/02/2011 22:41

it was a bit clunky in places

dialogue a bit shit

acting a bit wooden 2-dimensional (hark at meee)

I shall watch tomorrow though Smile

UnquietDad · 07/02/2011 22:42

Darrell: Nooooooo, Ros does NOWT for me. She is ice-maiden, bony, hard. Not dirty.

DaisySteiner · 07/02/2011 22:42

Lee Adama being in it was a total head-fuck. Are the weird beings in the woods cylons???

slartybartfast · 07/02/2011 22:42

tomorrow looks a bit odd, all anti each other by the look of the trailer. why? shouldnt they just be pleased to see more humans

UnquietDad · 07/02/2011 22:43

You see, I have never watched Galactica so didn't have that problem.

AnyFucker · 07/02/2011 22:46

who is Lee Adama ?

Katisha · 07/02/2011 22:49

It was depressing.

I am too depressed to watch again tomorrow.

UnquietDad · 07/02/2011 22:52

I'm hoping it is going to be "redemptive" and all about the "human spirit" in the manner of Russell T. Davies's take on the future of humanity... Not in the mood for dystopia!

Katisha · 07/02/2011 22:55

Got rid of one baddie doing self-satisfied smirking only for another one to fall out of the sky.

AnyFucker · 07/02/2011 22:56

that new bad guy has a face you want to punch

Eric Somebody

slartybartfast · 07/02/2011 22:59

oh doesnt he just.
the one in the parachute machine thingy?
what a weird look on his face

AnyFucker · 07/02/2011 23:05

yeah, kinda constipated Grin

slartybartfast · 07/02/2011 23:06

5 years worth of constipation Grin

UnquietDad · 07/02/2011 23:07

Oh, but please - who calls a twinklin' Oirish rogue "Tipper Malone" in their script this day and age? I mean, who even HAS a twinklin' Oirish rogue in their script these days?!

Actually, a lot of it felt 1980s, despite the biggish-budget look (actually, probably because of the budget being blown on South Africa). Case in point - the "ahem, we can't afford to SHOW you the spaceship in burn-up and the panicking passengers.. will the captain on videolink telling you about it do?"

AnyFucker · 07/02/2011 23:08

ooo, that's gotta burn the old ring, hasn't it ?

Katisha · 07/02/2011 23:10

And the annoying kid in the pudding basin haircut intoning Blake.
No doubt it is significant...

When do we start seeing people with virus haloes? Next episode?

And tygers?

UnquietDad · 07/02/2011 23:16

Ooh, yes, there has GOT to be a big Sf twist to this, which they've been playing down in the pre-publicity. On the Chekhov's Gun principle, the halo virus thing surely has to be seen again...

Katisha · 07/02/2011 23:21

We're talking Anton, not Pavel UQD?

UnquietDad · 07/02/2011 23:23

Indeed we are :)

Seeing a gun in act I and firing it in act III, and so on.

UnquietDad · 07/02/2011 23:24

Was anyone else at all bothered by the President's lack of personal security/bodyguards?

ghosteditor · 07/02/2011 23:27

Oh I only switched over for a moment but I thought it was Jamie Bamber from BSG. Let's face it, he is very pretty indeed!

Haven't seen it yet, so what do you reckon? Worth it?
