What did you think? It's all very Battlestar Galactica isn't it? And not just because of Lee Adama being in it. Stylistically almost an exact rip of the episodes set on New Caprica. Hmm, I think I'm going to enjoy it but we'll have to see if they take it in a different enough direction from here on out.

Sorry to have posted and run last night, I missed all the fun!

Very :o at Constipation Bad Guy. it was fairly obvious he was going to turn out to be a rotter having inveigled himself onto a "women and children first' escape pod scenario*, without all that posturing and the sinister way they kept referring to the "Evacuation Program".

*seeing as they reference Titanic you WOULD think they would have the fore thought to put enough escape pods on a ship to hold all the passengers?

Jury is still out in the Leaf houshold although I will no doubt watch it all. Need to find out about the Cyclons in the Wood (infected children gone ferral that were supposed to be exterminated by Crazy Expo Man, but he JUST COULDN'T DO IT thus tipping him over the edge) I also want to know how they have had time to set up a Diesel garment factory to keep them all in stylish utility gear.

UnquietDad, I think you are gazing if you are expecting this to be some triumph of the human spirit over adversity. Wink Killing off 2 of the main characters, leaving a small boy (however annoying) an orphan in the first episode, doesn't body well. Not to mention hints at the 'difficult decisions' that are obviously going to come back and bite Mr Pres on the arse. But if you like this sort of thing you really should get hold of Battlestar, it's very good, possibly the best Scifi series ever made, same kind of a game changer as The Wire imo.

Second that! All dark and twisty and very very clever.

Constipated Guy is Eric Mabius, who plays (played?) Daniel Mead in Dirty Betty.

DH and I spent the first few minutes saying 'Ooh look, it's whatsisname from Ashes to Ashes' and 'Ooh look, it's Daisy from Being Human'.

I guess any series (particularly SF) needs to set up a lot of background, but it was quite clunky.

I assume the title doesn't refer to the people in the settlement, but the ones outside (halo virus children). Took me rather too long to realise that Blush.

rocketleaf · 08/02/2011 12:58

Yeah I agree, any series is worth at least 2-3 episodes to see if it settles down. Think you are right, we are led to believe they are all the Outcasts of the title initially but its obviously going to be people in the woods.

Doh, at him from Ugly Betty, I kept thinking it was Dennis from Eastenders.

Its distracting that they have all been in something else (unless the acting is very convincing) One of the reasons why BSG was so successful because pretty much everyone in it was unknown so you didn't have that.

Oh dear. After reading all your comments I think I watched it with far too uncritical an eye. I thought it was great. I love that lots of my favourite actors from other things are in it, and allowed it to manipulate me emotionally (I cried when I thought he'd killed his son - I've been a bit like that since DS (3) was born - I went mental at the TV during the final episode of Torchwood).

I am however, very good at suspending my disbelief when I want to enjoy something, which infuriates DH!

HighPriestessBoo · 08/02/2011 16:55

Came to see if anyone had started a thread on this, am very pleased you did :)

rocketleaf · 08/02/2011 17:56

DH told me off because in the beginning when the kid was looking out of the window and quoting, I wondered where he would have got such a brand new fruit of the loom teeshirt :o "well If you are going to pick it apart then theres not much point" or something like that. So yeah, not so good at the old believe suspension this end.

HighPriestessBoo · 08/02/2011 19:20

Sometimes it's the picking apart that is the enjoyment - whatever floats your boat though Flo :o

AnyFucker · 08/02/2011 19:21

am gonna watch this again tonight

to laugh and point Grin

HighPriestessBoo · 08/02/2011 19:27

I'll probably be doing the same now this thread's ruined it all for me Wink

Pollyanna · 08/02/2011 19:28

it was hilarious. V crap.

I'll be watching it again tonight too.

Interview with Ros in She magazine (or somesuch) suggested it is Aliens in the woods, and there is lots of alien sex too!

AnyFucker · 08/02/2011 19:30

alien sex ?

now you are talking !

any lizard sex ?

UnquietDad · 08/02/2011 19:32

That'll be V you'll be wanting, AnyFucker.

Katisha · 08/02/2011 19:32

Yes I was wondering what they are all going to do for new clothes in the future.

Anyway. DH's office's theory is that the children with halo viruses all got sent outside to fend for themselves but didn't die and became Creatures...

AnyFucker · 08/02/2011 19:33

V ?

what is V ?

verytellytubby · 08/02/2011 19:34

I enjoyed it . Thought it was very entertaining but not as they meant it.

By the way BSG is starting from the beginning on Sky Atlantic at 8pm. Best sci-fi ever.

UnquietDad · 08/02/2011 19:34

I wanted to know where they wash, where the bogs are and whose job it is to clean them. Everyone we have seen so far has a Big Sexy Important Job like President, Security, Explorer, Teacher, etc.

verytellytubby · 08/02/2011 19:34

God V is brilliant. Lots of strange alien sex Wink

verytellytubby · 08/02/2011 19:35

I couldn't get over the President having no security and in a Gap chambray shirt!

UnquietDad · 08/02/2011 19:35

AnyFucker - V is a sci-fi show with lizard sex.

FYI

AnyFucker · 08/02/2011 19:37

gosh, I remember it now

I must have wiped it from my memory banks Smile

verytellytubby · 08/02/2011 19:38

I watched it the first time round

jonicomelately · 08/02/2011 20:04

Speaking of bad exposition, did anyone see the first episode of Blue Blood on Sky Atlantic? A few minutes in and the lead characters had a weird conversation where they 'introduced' each other. I immediately switched over Grin

verytellytubby · 08/02/2011 20:10

Joni I fell asleep in it!
