Did anyone see this last night?

The trainer said they are in the gym 4 times a day "no room for slackers." It must be a short session with plenty of recovery time!

I saw it. Mixed feelings. I didn't like the way the camera lingered on belly rolls etc because it really objectified people. Also, it's not a sustainable lifestyle once people go home. That said, there was a sense that people were getting back a sense of hope and control.

GettinTrimmer · 11/01/2011 13:58

I agree about it not being a sustainable lifestyle, this is a short sharp burst. I hope there's also some talking through the reasons for weight gain, the trainer barked at them about giving up too easily "that's why you're here!"

I enjoy watching them succeed and getting their lives back.

I loved it a couple of years ago as it seemed much more in depth due to being on every day.

The lightest one there (the girl who got voted off with her mum) is only slightly heavier than me.

DooinMeCleanin · 11/01/2011 14:05

Davina was om 'This Morning' this morning and said they work out for 5 hours a day Shock

Even thought of that makes me want to take to my bed for a week Grin

DramaInPyjamas · 11/01/2011 14:07

I really don't like the UK version, it seems to lack something that the USA and the Australian series has..

MrsVidic · 12/01/2011 12:13

I love this show, totally addicted!

nannyj · 12/01/2011 22:04

Agree with drama. The other versions are much better i think.

Monadami · 15/01/2011 15:41

Why do they need to remove their tops when being weighed? Is it so viewers can see the inch loss from week to week or just for the entertainment factor?

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2011 15:49

'waves to trimmer'

finally seen on itv player after dh erased off sky+planner

does seem a bit mean to make them strip, but maybe its like shaming them to lose

strandednomore · 16/01/2011 15:52

I haven't finished watching it yet but so far hadn't seen anything about their diet - would be more interested in that than their exercise because let's face it, if they want to keep the weight off they are going to have to really change what they eat!

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2011 16:05

thats true

to get that overweight they must have really been consuming the calories

be interesting to see what they did eat and what they will now eat via the chef

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/01/2011 23:12

Did you watch tonights trimmer?

verytellytubby · 18/01/2011 14:45

I'm really enjoying it. I've got a stone to lose and it's inspired me. Already been to the gym twice this week Grin

GettinTrimmer · 20/01/2011 09:30

'waves back to blondes'

monadami - Agree about having to remove their tops, I would prefer to wear my t-shirt for weighing in.

I can't remember what colours everyone is, but would like to see the 'irritating' orange couple come back having given it a go at home.

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 21/01/2011 11:48

'hi fives trimmer'

agree about the orange lot

thing is if anyone exercises 6+hrs a day they will lose weight

but wish they would show what food they eat

smellmycheese · 21/01/2011 17:40

I agree Blondes. they do focus a lot on the exercise, but hardly mention the diet they are following. I guess the exercise footage is more interesting and dramatic. I would be really interested to see the changes they have made in their diets too.

I also think its a bit sad when you see them getting really upset because they've 'only lost 3 pound' or whatever. i can see why they feel that way, but it makes me uncomfortable as it seems to be promoting that big numbers are what its all about, rather than gradual, easier to maintain results.

having said all that, I love it and get addicted to every series! It also does really encourage me to get out there and exercise, which can only be a good thing!

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/01/2011 09:19

i know - 3lbs a week is a fab loss, yet they are unhappy :(

RatherBeOnThePiste · 22/01/2011 22:54

Waves to GT & Mrs B

I agree with all you have said Smile I would like to see more about food.

It worries me when they are disappointed with a 5lbs loss because that's insane. It did worry me when they were collapsing because they were unused to the exercise that surely is dangerous? Like heart attack serious?

I also don't like the voting off, and I'm rather irritated by Davina although I don't normally dislike her!

I like the yellows!!
Go yellows, go yellows, ra, ra, ra, waves pom poms.

Monadami · 23/01/2011 04:04

I think those two bossy Trainers have that Biggest Loser website, I haven't looked but would presume it's a paid membership thing so that's where they tell subscribers what to eat.

I'm P.T and would never get a clinically obese or in many cases super obese person to exercise like a lunatic when they've done very little before. There is a risk they will seriously injure their joints or die.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 12:09

having a skinny minny ie davina there doesnt help them

they need someone who has lost weight, yes i knoe davina did after pregnant, but not to their extremes

'waves back to piste'

TigerseyeMum · 23/01/2011 19:58

I worry people will becoe ill through the sudden increase in exercise - I don't know, but if you weigh 25 stone and pedal madly on a bike then do weights and circuits, is that not putting strain on your heart?

I like watching it but would prefer more about the lifestyle too as how will they sustain it when they go home?

But, I suppose getting the weight off so dramatically will be a huge boost and they would be loathe to return to bad old ways and pile it al back on I suppose.

I tend to watch it with the sound off whilst exercising Blush

GettinTrimmer · 24/01/2011 11:56

IKWYM about Davina Blondes, someone like Nadia Sawalha.

There's also a Biggest Loser book, saw it in Sainsbury's, with the two trainers doing exercise and recipes for this and that.

Tigerseyemum - I agree about the sudden increase in exercise, I wasn't surprised when the orange couple had problems with press-ups.

Which ones are the yellows Piste?

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2011 13:54

I feel that Davina is insincere and has a patronising manner, she also just pops in for the elimination programme, so is not engaged at all with the contestants.

Lovely GT - the yellow team is here Claire is the biggest female but seems to want to change so bad-der-ly

I agree that someone like Nadia Swallall Sowaller Swillywill Swallywally That Nadia would have been more friendly and better overall.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 15:25

Wonder if they will meet their group target tonight?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 24/01/2011 15:28

IIRC Their group target was the equivalent of losing my son Hmm Grin Confused!!
