Probably not. I fear we are stuck with him.

Even more people will vote for him after Cheryl sticking the boot in.

MuGGGle
I thought that if I offered to send you choc you might refuse (don't ask me why I thought that, no idea) so offered to send your DD some instead. Will get a Swiss care packet together and send you something. Watch your inbox.

When I was 17yo I left home. I lived 200 km away from my parents. On my own.

I don't think she is a child. I don't think she is quite stable, but she is not a child.

sleepycat and potpourri
Come on none of them are kids, they have seen the show before, they know how people will comment but still they go ahead so maybe hop off those high horses.

I'm put in mind of Blyton's Pi Sisters.

SuePurblybiltByElves · 21/11/2010 21:41

Nothing to do with class hatred, I'm posting from a council house Grin.

Lougle · 21/11/2010 21:41

Tell me, if that list was an excerpt from a FB wall, written about a student in a college, would you see it as bullying? Why is it different because the individual is on a TV programme?

cupcakesandbunting · 21/11/2010 21:42

Why don't the pious ones moaning about us character assassinating a sneering, bullying chav bugger off to the holier than thou thread or something?

If you think that these people are only ever going to get critiqued on their singing talents, you're mistaken. They know it too.

Oh yeah, I said chav. Cry me a river.

Katiekitty · 21/11/2010 21:42

You see Lougle you put yourself out there in the public eye - you get evaluated in the minutest detail. You can't help it.

For instance, all the comments here are in a public domain and are being taken to bits and read with exacting precision.

If Cher can't handle such attention, perhaps she isn't ready for the bright lights of fame?

MsSparkle · 21/11/2010 21:42

Lougle where were you last week when all the witches (Grin) Mnetters were being mean about Katie and i was the only one sticking up for her? I could have done with some back up you know!

MsSparkle, ahem. I am on the Weasel's team, staunch defender of Fraulein Katie.

celticlassie · 21/11/2010 21:43

In that case, they should change the minimum age to 18.
I would not enter something like this (even if I could sing) because I wouldn't want to put myself in a position where millions of people could judge everything about me. And they would. So Cher (and everyone else) that's putting themselves into this position should know what's involved.

Whitethorn · 21/11/2010 21:43

Lougle Make fun of the show, fine. Make fun of what people do. But don't rip apart who they are.

Seriously if you are looking for a serious music forum, maybe try NME or other type music mag, this is clearly meant to be fun and they are putting themselves up there for public consumption.

HerBeatitude · 21/11/2010 21:43

I don't think anyone is really ready for the bright lights of fame tbh

MmeLindt · 21/11/2010 21:43

If she were my 17yo?

It would not bother me.

It is as the wonderful SM would say, "Words on a screen" written by people who have never met Cher, and never will.

We have no idea what she is really like, we are going by what the press (and Simon Cowell) is feeding us.

I am not so naive as to think that everything I read in the press is true, or even bears a passing resemblance to the truth.

Anyway, not going to sully the funny XF thread any more with serious discussions.

Have you ordered your Kate and Will Sperm Babies? Have you?

Maybe we should have two XF threads every year to avoid this annual conversation.

I don't like the Sperm couple Mme, sorry. I'm all about the Royal tat but I just can't pay good money for Fimo Boy emissions. Sorry.

pink4ever · 21/11/2010 21:46

mumsnet at its best imo! ffs its a reality show-its all a big joke.GET OVER IT!!!

herbietea it is making you laugh at the expense of another individual. Bullying. She is not an adult. She cannot vote, she cannot buy cigarrettes, she cannot buy alcohol, she cannot serve on a jury. She cannot get married without her parents consent. She cannot buy matches, or even knives, scissors, etc., she cannot have sex with someone who is over 18 in a position of trust. She is a child, legally.

MsSparkle · 21/11/2010 21:48

The age should be 18+ imo. To be in the music business you have to be tough and if you crumble over a few comments made on MN then you are NOT going to make it in the business.
