Anyone watching? Kitchin guy is really scary - feel very tense watching!

OP posts:
MollieO · 01/11/2010 21:49

According to Google it is from a one year old sheep.

Guacamole · 01/11/2010 21:50

What's mutton then?

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 21:50

according to Wiki it's the meat of a 1yr old domestic(?!) sheep

MollieO · 01/11/2010 21:51

Again according to Wiki it is a castrated male or a ewe. Hogget is from a young male or maiden ewe. Basically whether they've had nookie or not!

Guacamole · 01/11/2010 21:51

Google says mutton is even older!

MollieO · 01/11/2010 21:52

Sorry my second answer was for mutton. Just in case anyone is still awake!

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 21:53

"What?! There is a hogget??

HURRAY. A hogget - and when you 're hunting for one, look for the H on its back!
Not just one but FIVE - hidden among the spring lambs.

But they look the same.

What makes it a hogget?

Apparently its meat has a stronger flavour like a cull ewe, and Bob Oakes gave me something of a definition:

Hoggets are last year's lambs. One year old, but before they grow their first two adult teeth. A restricted market"

from \link{http://www.bbc.co.uk/shropshire/features/2004/09/hunt_for_the_hogget.shtml\here} - right at the bottom LOL

madamimadam · 01/11/2010 21:54

My 19mo son eats like Greg Wallace.

Guacamole · 01/11/2010 21:54

They all look knackered don't they? :(

drivingmisscrazy · 01/11/2010 21:54

I think they are all great; but I wished they looked a bit, well, cleaner...

madamimadam · 01/11/2010 21:55

Claire, Claire, Claire!

MollieO · 01/11/2010 21:55

"She had issues with her hogget." Are we still talking about cooking, Greg?

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 21:56

PMSL Mollie

I want claire as well - Noma bloke said she was 1/2% further ahead than the others

Guacamole · 01/11/2010 21:57

I thought today was the final... I have to wait for tomorrow!

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 21:58

nope - we have to wait for tomorrow

madamimadam · 01/11/2010 21:59

I know! Chiz, chiz, chiz.

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 22:04

OMG \link{http://www.wirralnews.co.uk/wirral-news/local-wirral-news/2010/10/28/pregnant-merseyside-chef-claire-lara-through-to-final-of-masterchef-the-professionals-100252-27555563\Claire is pregnant} Shock!

MollieO · 01/11/2010 22:06

That article reads as if she didn't win.

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 22:12

it does - but then so does \link{http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/north-east-news/evening-chronicle-news/2010/10/28/north-east-pair-through-to-masterchef-finals-72703-27558921\this} article about the other 2.

MollieO · 01/11/2010 22:19

From that article I reckon John won.

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 22:24

do you reckon??

I wonder if Claire is a MNer - what with having her first baby anyday Grin

madamimadam · 01/11/2010 22:36

Sorry - got distracted watching Rob Brydon...

Do hope Claire's an MNer. Wonder when MC was recorded?

I'm off to make a hula hoop salad. Night night x

comixminx · 01/11/2010 22:42

sigh - some beautiful, beautiful food there. Didn't fancy the sound of most of those Noma dishes, what with all the bone marrow and suchlike, but it all looked astounding. What a hippy though, that Noma chef!

Really hope that Clare wins, but I'd be happy for David to win instead. I don't think John is quite as good as the other two though.

MollieO · 01/11/2010 22:42

Just something in the way it read. I really hope I'm wrong.

I wish it wasn't scheduled for such an early start tomorrow. I wonder if ds's teacher would mind if he didn't do his homework and went to bed early so I can watch the final uninterrupted?!

MaMoTTaT · 01/11/2010 22:46

Madam - according to another article I've read about someone knocked out in the semi's about 5 months ago,

Which sounds about right if Claire is due this month and at the time didn't know she was pregnant.
