I don't believe that family ate his meals either!

I can not see him getting a breakthrough in that school; it's just too much against him

LauraNorder · 20/09/2010 22:34

I agree verity, DS is 5 and would struggle with aubergine, maybe even swede but potatoes, carrots, cauliflower, mushrooms - he would think I was taking the piss asking him what they are called!

Least the parents are finally agreeing?! I believe ours took to feeding their kids through the fence....

Alambil · 20/09/2010 22:41

I wonder if it was a severe case of denial, like "it couldn't POSSIBLY be THAT bad..." but when he showed them what went in their kids' mouths for a month / year, they got the wake up call they needed

juneybean · 20/09/2010 22:50

OMG! Of course preschoolers use forks and knives!

LauraNorder · 20/09/2010 22:50

Shock - pmsl! They are being serious aren't they?

OP posts:
LauraNorder · 20/09/2010 22:51

juneybean · 20/09/2010 22:51

LauraNorder · 20/09/2010 22:52

OP posts:
juneybean · 20/09/2010 22:52

LauraNorder · 20/09/2010 22:53

The department of health woman is more interested in having clean plates than giving the children healthy food.

40someMum · 20/09/2010 22:54

i like to think of myself as a real try-er but i would have felt like buggering off over that knife thing!

Alambil · 20/09/2010 22:57

I can't believe they're waiting for nutritional analysis... ffs doesn't she KNOW that coleslaw / home made chilli is naturally better than chicken bone nuggets!?!?!

solo · 20/09/2010 23:00

I love Jamie Oliver. He's soooo human.

sethstarkaddersmum · 20/09/2010 23:09

rofl @ her asking for evidence that UK preschoolers use knives!

BertieBotts · 21/09/2010 00:11

I thought that knife thing was so sad.

TwoIfBySea · 21/09/2010 00:13

The mother sat there while they talked about how her son could die from diabetes due to what she had fed him! FFS, those people need a reality check.

I couldn't believe those kids would still choose the nuggets after seeing all that gloop going into it. My dts (8) saw the School Dinners version of that and were disgusted.

Alice really, really, needs to chill a little, very defensive for doing the wrong thing.

BitOfFun · 21/09/2010 00:19

Alice is a tough nut to crack, right enough. She positively glowers at him the whole time.

nickstermum · 21/09/2010 10:09

Ah i thought it was hilarious! No i dont believe the fat family ate any of their meals - too lazy to cook them obviously dont like healthy food... Shock

I love jamies programmes but i did think he was a bit overfamiliar with Justin during their cooking.... the poor kid didnt look like he was coping with being hugged by a man!

Fantastic that the school have given him a bit longer, but cant believe they monitor that waste when the portions are just so monstrously huge!!!

GO Jamie :)

Deliaskis · 21/09/2010 10:17

This is a programme that is guaranteed to have me yelling at the TV the whole time.

I honestly don't know how they can defend their decisions. The family I kind of feel a bit sorry for as they recognised that it was a problem and that they would need to take steps to deal with it. The parents at the school also once they thought about it conceded that he was right. What I don't get are the radio guy and the school people not conceding that there is anything wrong with what the kids are eating.

Jamie's comments to the media about the ignorance about food, health and nutrition weren't far off the mark, and making him apologise for what he said, only made them look worse to be honest.
