Would you let your 14yr old wear thongs?

I don’t want to, but I noticed last week when she was getting out of the car that when she’s wearing leggings, she is wearing her knickers wedged up her bum so as not to have a VPL, and it looks ridiculous as you can see the fabric bunched up at the top of her bum. She hasn’t asked for thongs but I’d rather she be comfortable, it can’t be comfy walking around with your knickers wedged up your bum all day! There’s no point telling her not to do it as she’d just put it back as soon as she was able to. Teenagers 🙄

On the one hand I’m like, “Thongs at 14?? No way!”
But on the other hand… it’s just knickers and no-one should be seeing them so it shouldn’t matter.
But still, 14 😬

I knew there would be a load of people saying "they're just pants/underwear" 🙄 It's like people who say "it's just a vagina/vulva/bum/breasts"- they're sexual parts. Fact is, thongs are seen as sexual, and are not appropriate for a young teen.

Underwear is seen as sexual, regardless of the type. Reality is that's it's just practical clothing that everyone wears. Anyone interested in a teens underwear is just wrong. And a thong doesn't change that.

But no one is seeing the thongs.

its personal preference I only wear thongs I’ve no idea why people find them uncomfortable if they’re wearing the right size. I personally can’t understand wearing briefs or boy shorts but each to their own. Also, I’ve never had any issues with UTIs caused by underwear and because I know basic hygiene and wipe my arse, no they don’t get “pooey” 🙄

OP just ask her. She might be embarrassed to bring it up, she might prefer not having VPL. If she wants to wear them get some cotton ones that are a true thong not a g-string and let her see if she likes them.

Are they? I’m not sure see them that way. I know I used to wear them and now don’t. My DD wears them and then tights, and then shorts under her school skirt. Not sure anyone really gets to see them.

There can be a lot of peer pressure from friends

I was bullied at aged 13 for not wearing them (young teens are cruel, they notice when changing for sports or if you wear leggings and have vpl)

It amuses me that thong wearers don't seem to understand that to anyone walking behind them when they are wearing leggings (or see through clothing) it is perfectly obvious they are wearing a thong. However, I also agree that your DD can make her own underwear decisions.

My DD wore cotton thongs from mid teens - as soon as she started biting her own undies. They are just pants. My Nana went berserk about my Auntie wearing bikini knickers in the 1970s - she said they were disgusting and skimpy and wouldn’t put them on the line as they were so depraved. And I expect her Mum thought her big knickers were outrageous compared to full length draws. Its all relative.

Yeah I would get her a pack and see what she thinks, unfortunately it’s what the 14 years wear now and tbf they do look better with leggings. They are just underwear at the end of the day.

Thongs fine IMO but just make sure the leggings she wears are good quality and not see through... Quite a few bare teen bottoms on display when thongs being worn with sheer leggings or tights.

I find them so uncomfortable as do my DD’s, they both love full granny knickers despite being in their 20’s. To eaches own. I think let them if they want

When I say thong I mean Brazilian really, not a G string type contraption. I find Brazilian just as comfy as any big knicker, as long as they are big enough, size up one.

No I don’t think it’s too young but at 14 if she wants them I’m sure she would ask or buy them on a shopping trip with friends. I stopped caring about vpl a long time ago, everyone knows I wear knickers anyway so I’m not bothered about anyone seeing the outline. I do wear thongs only at the gym because it’s annoying picking out wedgies all the time.
