5ft 7 - tall for boy of 14?

My boyfriend’s got loads of siblings I nieces /nephews - I’m the opposite extreme - only grandchild !! I’m just amazed how much his 14yr old nephew towers over me - is this tall for 14 yr old boy? He seems to have show up loads since Xmas!

My 13yo DD is 5’6 so I’d say it’s neither here or there really!

No not tall at all. Mine were all 6ft and shaving by that age.

Yeah, it’s a bit of a shock when the young people start towering over you op!

My 11 year old boy is 5ft 4inches. He seems to be getting bigger every day!

My 12 year old daughter is 5ft 7 so he's not that tall to me

My 13 year old is 5’4. He seems to be one of the taller ones though. He’s growing an inch every couple of months. I don’t know how long it will carry on for though.

Ds1 was 6' at 14. He always looked like he was out with a load of younger kids when he was out with his mates. Lots of them have shot up now (he's nearly 16) so at 6'4 doesn't look quite so out of proportion. I'd have thought 5'7 is fairly average.

at that age there is a lot of variation.

My 14.5 year old DS is 6ft 2, so don't think 5 ft 7 is particularly tall. He's always been one of the tallest in his year.

My 14 yo (as of last week) stepson has just overhauled his auntie, and is rapidly closing in on me (5' 7.5"). And he was always fairly titchy compared to his brother.

I was 5ft 8 at 14 and one of the tallest in my year. Stopped growing at 5ft 10!

DS is 13 next month. He’s gone from 5’3” to 5’8” in the last year. The men on both sides oft the family range between 6’2” and 6’5”, so we were never going to have short children.

Not really. 14 is the age where they tend to shoot up - I'm assuming he's just finished Y9?

Mine was 6ft by that age.

My 15 year old dd is 5 9

I'm 5ft7. I have Cubs (Primary age) of a similar height.

Average for 15yo, taller than average for a 14yo but not exceptionally so. My 15yo is 5ft 7.

Ds1 was 5 foot 6 as he was going into Y7, (11?), so your nephew doesn’t seem tall to me. Fortunately he stopped growing at 15, but suddenly grew another inch when he was 21!,

Ds2 was more the slow and steady growth, which kind of creeps up on you, and i suddenly noticed my head was level with his shoulders

My 14-year-old is 5 ft 11 and his friend is 6ft. They are among the tallest in their group but most of them are at least 5 ft 9 or 10, so I don't think 5 ft 7 is particularly tall.

My 14 year old is 5'10 and still growing...

He has size 11 feet.

His Dad is 6'4"

I'm 5'10 and my three sons had all overtaken me in height by the age of 14. They've ended up at 6', 6'2 and 6'3.

Our 14 year old nephew is 6ft 2! He towers over everyone!

My DS was 6ft at 14. At 19 he is 6ft 1.

I have a few friends whose DSs are about 5'7 at 14. DD1 is 14 and she's 5'8 but I'm aware that boys tend to grow a bit later.

I stopped growing at 12 and I'm 5'3 .

Our 13yo is currently 5'5 but is growing v.v. rapidly atm. He's grown 6cm in less than 6mths.
His best friend from primary has always been tall but is currently just shy of 6'. It's a real mix at this age.

DH was 6'3" at 14 as he had already reached his adult height. His Mum and sister stopped growing at 11 and are 5'10".

Our DC - some have been fast growers and others slow as I was still growing at 17ish which is at the later end for females.
