Smoking to vaping?

Has anyone succeeded in swapping smoking for vaping?
I can't stand how addicted to cigarettes I am, I wake every morning in panic about my health.
I just can't seem to get myself to stop! In fact the more I think about it, the more I smoke!
I was thinking trying to switch to vaping might be an idea?
Has anyone managed this? Any tips?
Thank you

Morning all,
Everyone's doing great Smile

I'm using an Endura t20 and chain vaping vampire vape sweet tobacco 18mg...

I have also been staring at smokers 😂 Sometimes I think it's because it looks delicious. I imagine the feeling of it...but more often now I'm just fixated, like dogs said, I'm starting to feel some distance, good news so long as no- one takes offence to being stared at!! I took my baccy out of my bag last night and hid it away. I didn't want to keep seeing it, which is also a big change for me.

Yes, it's a complete change of lifestyle. I've found it best to try and 'sneak it past' myself as much as possible! I don't react too well to being banned from doing anything so that was best for me. The vape first and counting fags not smoked approach really helped me with this. I thought I'd take a lot longer to get to zero but was surprised at how drastically I cut down so quickly. I also think it's comforting to read here that it's different for everyone, yet so many people have managed to quit this way.

My mouth, generally feels much better. I like it that the film of tar that was constantly there has gone, and yes, I think my gums are getting a bit pinker.

So close to a week 4dogs! Hope you're feeling very proud of yourself Grin

Ooh fox you putting your baccy away is a big deal! I am struggling a bit with cravings this afternoon but I’m not going to cave in, this is day 6 so that’s about 180 rollies
I haven’t smoked plus all the ones I didn’t smoke when I was having a few a day. I can’t give up giving up now!

LoonyLuna · 24/06/2018 18:25

Keep going dogs, you should be so proud! Only a few more hours until you are a week smoke free!

I changed my coil, seems better, but have only had one go on it so far. Also ordered 6 new coils and a spare battery. £27 down, but that'll keep me going at least 6 weeks which would have been about £85 worth of tobacco! So I feel it's a good deal lol

Tuttytoffee · 24/06/2018 18:30

That's the spirit 4dogs and well done fox on hiding your baccy. You don't need that evil thing anymore!

I've had a rough day. I'm not feeling my best. I had yesterday joint pain in my wrists, fingers, knees and feet and what looks like mottled skin. I though it may be somethibg to do with stopping the cigs and was going to ask here if anyone else has had the same? My hands are very weak and the mottled skin and sore joints are still here today and it's got me very worried and anxious which in turn is making me crave a cig. I haven't had one but today has been difficult. I will go to the gp tomorrow to put my mind at rest I think as 111 wasn't very helpful.

I've noticed my DP is smoking a lot less. He's had a handful of fags the last few days. I didn't want to mention him to stop as this was my choice and I would never do that. Just maybe be hopeful that he decides to follow my lead.

Hope Luna and Black have had a good day so far.

4dogs · 24/06/2018 18:42

Thanks for the words of encouragement fellow vapers. My favourite vape now needs recharging, I don’t find my spare as
satisfying but generally I get less
cravings in the evening so I will survive. Oh Tutty your joint pain and mottled skin sounds very distressing. I’ve not experienced that but smoking is so invasive all manner of weird things can happen when we stop. Hope it stops soon and
that the anxiety doesn’t get too much. Good news that your dp is smoking less, maybe quitting will be the next step? My dh is away til wednesday so it is smoke
free here for now, I’m hoping he will give up but realistically I don’t think it’s likely.

cricketmum84 · 24/06/2018 18:56

@Tuttytoffee the watts you run it at depends on what ohm your coils are :) the aspire coils give you a guide on the side of the pack

Foxbox · 24/06/2018 19:27

Thank you for all your positive words my lovely vaping friends Smile

dogs I love the way you're powering through, it's like you've turned a corner, your resolve is solid and there's no way you'll be turning back now. Brilliant 💪
I've ordered another vape the same as the one I really like so my spare will be the same as the original and the crap vape will only be for dire emergencies. Not taking any chances on getting caught short 😂

Luna glad the vape's working better and totally with you on the money spent (I've ordered various things too...) we'll reap in back on no time at all by not smoking!

Tutty Flowers Sounds like a really tough couple of days for you. So impressed you've still made it through without smoking. I haven't had that with my skin/joints but like dogs, I wouldn't be surprised if it's some strange detox symptom from quitting the fags. Let us know how you get on at the GP, I think it's a good idea to go to put your mind at rest. Totally feel you on the anxiety side of things though- I had pains in my chest yesterday which got me really worried/anxious again, doesn't help with cravings does it. Great news about your DP, sounds promising...
Hope you feel better soon

I'm counting the hours until it's been 10days smoke free for me- double figures- I'll celebrate that! Hope everyone else is suitably proud of themselves. It's not easy and everyone is doing so well Smile

I think that’s a good idea to get another vape fox and i think that’s what i’ll do, two the same so i don’t get frustrated using my not brilliant spare cirro one when the ego is charging.

Foxbox · 24/06/2018 21:08

Yeah, I figured I'd have spent way more than that on baccy in the long run and was also frustrated with crap 2nd vape. Now we've got this far it feels worth investing I think. Anything to make this process run as smoothly as possible!

I've also been thinking again about the value of the support in this thread. I think checking in here with progress reports has definitely stopped me caving in a good few times! I know I'll be saying how I've got on here so I push a bit harder through cravings. Great stuff. Thanks again everyone Flowers

Oh, now I'm regretting just getting a battery. Should I have got a whole second vape?!? 😱

cricketmum84 · 24/06/2018 21:28

@LoonyLuna I have the one tank but 2 battery's that I charge and use in rotation, so while ever I'm using one the other is usually charged and in my bag just in case. No need for a whole second vape unless you want one :) I know people who have like 6 or 7 just cos they like to mix them up :)

I have a spare tank that I have in standby just in case anything were to happen to my usual one.

Foxbox · 24/06/2018 22:10

Luna It's probably me being obsessive again 😂 It's just a way of always having the vape you like available, 2nd battery will do that too. I also quite liked to idea of being able to alternate between tobacco and menthol flavours, or different nicotine strengths as time goes on... plus the new one I've ordered is purple!

Yay! I am now a week smoke free!! I am amazed that I have done it. I went for a walk earlier (pokemon go-ing) and a woman near me had two cigarettes, one after the other. I did have a brief craving pang but it was
brief and I couldn’t smell the smoke, dunno how not as she was really close to me. I really wanted to be able to smell it!

Ollivander84 · 25/06/2018 11:52

That's fab!
Custard donut flavour for me today - yum

Tuttytoffee · 25/06/2018 14:18

Well done 4dogs on a week smoke free. Feels like an amazing achievement doesn't it?! And it really really is! We've done a week now, no going back! I've been ok today. Been to my GP who didn't really say much other than ordered bloods to be done. Suppose I'll just have to wait and see. It's like I turned 30 in May and my body is telling me that's it now 🤣😂. I've had a couple of surprise cravings today already and the smell of my DP cig made me want one then and there. Puffed through it on the vape and it soon passed. Got a very busy week on this week, loads of jobs on. Hoping being busy will make the week fly by and I'll soon be on 2 weeks smoke free. Hope you are all having a great sunny smoke free day!

Tuttytoffee · 25/06/2018 15:14

ollivander I had a vanilla custard yesterday and it tasted like something was burning. I'd only just changed my coil too so I tipped it out and put vimto flavour in instead and the burn taste went. Think it was a demon juice liquid.

Ollivander84 · 25/06/2018 15:27

Sweet flavours like custard can be coil killers! I have a churro chocolate chip peanut butter flavour - 24hrs on that and my coil has gunked up

4dogs · 25/06/2018 17:54

I didn’t know different flavours used coils
up more quickly. The sweet ones don’t appeal to me at all, I am happy with menthol but will be happy when my menthol/eucalyptus ones arrive. I went into town today and got another vape pen so I won’t suffer with my inferior one when one is charging. Nearly at the end of day 7, feels good that I have done a week. Well done everyone else, tutty and fox am i right in thinking you have both gone double
digits today?

Ollivander84 · 25/06/2018 17:55

Yeah usually thicker darker liquids or ones with lots of sweeteners. They clog up the coils faster
Think sticky toffee sauce vs lemon juice through the coils Grin

Foxbox · 25/06/2018 19:45

dogs Wooo!! Well done, that's fab Smile definitely something to celebrate 🎉 Yes, by midnight, I'll have completed day 11 👍 Can't believe it either!!
Tutty glad you've been ok today, another day done- yes, it'll be 2 weeks before you know it Smile The attachment pic is for you- shows you're exactly the right age to get all the years lost to smoking back Smile not such good news for me but I'll take all the years I can back!
Ollivander really appreciating your vast knowledge of vaping/flavours etc. I'm still quite confused by it all and will be referring back regularly!

First day of leaving the house with no baccy in my bag today 😲 So far, ok. Cravings at work when others smoke but I'm getting used to getting through so that's progress...
Couple of annoying opinions from ex smokers who gave up in different ways and seem to look down on vaping... sod them I say, it's not going to kill me and being addicted to nicotine is apparently as harmful as being addicted to caffeine so I'll take it!

Hope everyone else is getting on ok?

Very proud of us vapers - we're smashing it! Smile

Tutty -- vimto flavour?! 😱 where did you get that?!?

LoonyLuna · 25/06/2018 20:35

I dream smoked this afternoon. Lol. Only had half a roll up though. The guilt kicked in. Used to dream about smoking when I was pregnant as well. Think this is day 9 for me. So double figures tomorrow! We should make a note of all our dates. To look back on with pride ☺️

Actually think this may be day 8, as my last rollie was at 9am on the 16th ...

4dogs · 25/06/2018 20:38

Going out without baccy is a big deal fox, well done. Those ex smokers sound highly annoying and patronising. Swapping to vaping is a legit way of giving up. Some people have to rain on the parade! I’m really proud of all of us and love our thread. Vaping is brilliant, I would not have even contemplated giving up without a vape. Like fox said, nicotine on its own isn’t really problematic.

Foxbox · 25/06/2018 21:05

Luna Dream smoking 😂 That made me laugh! Very impressed at your restraint though, despite being unconscious! Double figures coming round quick Smile Amazing! I downloaded the smoke free app again, typed in my quit date and time so it'll tell me how long I've gone. Good way of keeping track and it tells you how much money you've saved, health benefits etc too..
dogs thank you Flowers yes, it's a really big deal to me, the navy thing. Thank you for understanding that. And agreed, they were pious reformed smokers who I've no intention of being like. They're just jealous because us vapers are cool 😎 no way I'd have done this any other way either.
Love our thread too ❤️
