My brother had been a heroin
Addict for more than 20 years. It nearly cost him his life 6 weeks ago but he's recovering. Says he'll never touch the stuff again. Brilliant, I think but have a nagging doubt that once he's better physically he'll be back to his old ways. Anyone else?? Good news, bad news, support required and offered. Could just do with chatting to people on here as it's been our family secret for so long c

@hotcrossbun4321 thats exactly what I’ve tried to do. I just want to see my parents on their own. It’s hard because my brother lives with them, he comes and goes as he pleases. He doesn’t have many friends or money so if we all wanted to go round it’s hard to find somewhere for him to be. I haven’t seen them all for over a week now. We normally have a Sunday dinner but it’s been a month since I’ve seen them at the weekend. I’ve actually enjoyed it, no pressure, the kids can play whatever they want and we do everything by our rules. I don’t know what will happen, my mum clearly thinks I’m being unfair. My brother is exhausting to be around, even on a good day. His moods swing wildly. Even when I see my parents alone, he’s always calling my mum. She often has to leave in a rush to sort something out for him. I’m so tired of the whole situation. I still feel guilty, but less so after re reading this thread. Addicts really do destroy families.
