Hi everyone... it seems quiet on here but I felt like checking in... I've slipped off once a week in the last few weeks but now I'm on day 9. My dad would have been mortified about my habit so I really want to do this.

I have been so very, very tired. Partly grief and partly withdrawal I think. I left my awful job and due to my dad passing I was able to negotiate a later start date for my new one at the end of August and spend quality time with ds. I'm excited about my new role although the interview feels like aaaages ago. Want go be at my best so have really got to kick this now.

Strangely I haven't got that panicked feeling that I had with other attempts to stop and my dad never liked me smoking so i stopped that 9 days ago too. The headaches from that have been bloody awful.

I understand that a few days is nothing in the grand scheme of several years on and off but I have to start somewhere right? Dh still has a few cigs but has stopped using too. We're feeling extremely determined. We used to talk about cravings which very often only ever ended one way. Now we just don't talk about it. Ever. If I'm struggling I scrub that mother-fucking granite or something. He gives me a kiss and leaves me to it. Not sure if it will work long-term but tbh my cravings have died down a lot anyway fortunately.

Not sure what compelled me to write this evening... it's weird but it's like I've trawled through a fog and made it to the other side. In the past I've got to this stage and felt terrified but this time it feels different and I hope I'm right.

Goodnight and good luck all. Have a great week Smile

Lovely to hear from you Cleaning. It's great that you're feeling so determined and optimistic, and MrC is on board! I'm so sorry about your dad, grief turns everything upside down; I know what you mean about a "fog". Hold onto to your lovely memories of your dad Flowers

Good luck with your new job, I'm sure you'll rise to the challenge. Is there any granite work top left or is it all polished away now? Grin
Keep strong x

It's a new week. How's everyone? Had a nice sunny weekend in Eastbourne and hardly thought about cocaine at all. Maybe it's being in different surroundings? and my dealer wouldn't deliver that far Wink

Here's to a clean week Brew

Hello cleaning! Well done on 9 days!
Here's to a surftastic week!

ponzusoup · 16/08/2017 19:00

Where is everyone?

I've managed to stay clean since 28th Aug holiday departure. Been back four days no lapses. Feeling determined.

Sending love and wondering how you all are?

Xx

ponzusoup · 16/08/2017 19:07

Make that 28th July!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/08/2017 20:10

Welcome back Ponz and what a great achievement. Almost a month Halo. I spotted your mistake, we'll blame jet lag Wink You must feel great though? Please spur me on with your positivity.

I think we've all been busy holidaying. I win the prize for the least glamorous by going to Eastbourne!
Hopefully it's not too triggering to say that I've been hit with an avalanche of cravings today. Really struggling with the normality of everything this week. [self pitying face]

Ha! Well done Ponzu, that's 4 weeks!
Star for you. I will have done 3 by next bank holiday so holding out for that- is it bad that I already know that will be my downfall? How's everyone else doing?

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/08/2017 20:24

3 weeks is brilliant Dusty, even if you are counting down the days til the bank holiday Grin

Hey all! Glad we are all surfing and enjoying holiday time like sensible people. I've even been to national trust shit!!!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/08/2017 21:46

Wow that's the height of sensibledom Serial. Grin

We've all turned into semi pro surfers (apart from me, I still feel like I'm in the beginner's pool with wobbly legs).
Hopefully I'm improving slowly!

serialtester · 16/08/2017 22:10

How did I post that twice?! We've all gone all sensible. We'll be golfers instead of surfers soon.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 16/08/2017 22:42

Very sensible to post things twice Serial. We'll get you a twinset for Christmas.
I'm probably worse at golf than surfing. I might just stay in the posh members only bar wearing a pullover.

OP posts:
DustyDuck · 17/08/2017 23:14

"in the posh members only bar wearing a pullover."
Can't read this without it saying
"Wearing only a pullover". I think golf clubs are quite strict about clothing though.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 18/08/2017 14:04

Aha ha barred from the golf club for inappropriate attire!

Hope you're all ok. I'm at work fantasizing about a stiff drink and a fat line. Confused oh dear.

Hello lovely Surfers, I'm back 😊 Feeling fab and no desire to go overboard. Mr BI has been sniffing around ha ha but I have resisted, not hard as he's a twat. I have a date tonight so will let you know how that goes. Please God can he be normal!!! Good luck surging and resist the urge Lost xx

HoochiMama · 18/08/2017 15:28

That should read surfing. Not sure what surging would be, maybe a new Friday night sport? Ps date is threatening to cancel, knew I'd jinx it by mentioning Sad

serialtester · 18/08/2017 15:46

If the fucker cancels we'll batter him with golf clubs.

HoochiMama · 18/08/2017 16:28

Lol thanks Serial. Appears to still be going ahead, he was concerned about the weather as it was thundering. Not sure what that says about him. Anyhow I shall report back later...

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 18/08/2017 16:36

Welcome back Hooch and good luck with your date. If he cancels, he gets the Serial treatment Grin

We've progressed to golfing now so hope your date isn't below par..... Hmm

I'm definitely getting a surge of urges today. I'm running home from work soon so that may or may not help.

OP posts:
ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 18/08/2017 16:39

concerned about the weather? maybe he's planned a picnic or some awful outside activity for your date?

serialtester · 18/08/2017 16:41

I'll see you at the 19th hole lost!

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 18/08/2017 16:43

I'm in the pullover with the diamond pattern and fetching golf socks. You can't miss me.
