do those silk boden pumps come under the same umbrella do we think? i have clocked a couple of people in those round this way...though on further reflection i think a Heels in Play park may be a thread in its own right...

SuSylvester · 12/04/2010 14:52

i think yes

these are the Boden ones I mean.

Those Keds - naaaaw my mum wears something like that. deffo old lady look (she's 80 this year).

When and with what are we wearing the Converse then - just with jeans instead of boots (fair enough)? Or with a skirt (not so sure)?

AnyFucker · 12/04/2010 14:57

I saw a woman on a very pebbly beach this weekend, struggling along in heels and sheer tights

LadyBiscuit · 12/04/2010 15:16

superdrys don't do hitops. Hi tops are crucial

joster · 12/04/2010 15:24

Is this cos Sam Cam spotted in a pair of all stars in today's papers?

I have to say, I like them, had thought about getting some as my summer knock abouts this year, but all this has made me not so sure!!

MathsMadMummy · 12/04/2010 15:28

I don't think they're cliched, they went through phase 1) uber-trendy, phase 2) over-done (i.e. cliched), and IMHO are now in phase 3) part of the background.

I've never worn them, they look great but far too narrow for me, I'd look like a clown. I'm more at home in surfy-type trainers, Roxy, Ripcurl or whatever.

Agree with others though, who cares really, if you like them!

pointydog · 12/04/2010 15:44

I have no real sense of what is overdone and I like it that way because I just buy things that I like

pookamoo · 12/04/2010 15:45

To be fair, the photo of the floral Superdrys is a bit bright compared to the real thing, which is a darker blue... I think they are fab anyway.

Hulababy · 12/04/2010 15:45

I like mine. They are pink pump style ones. I don't find many shoes that I can wear without too many blisters, but Converse are generally good for me.

DD has light pink boots, and has had a couple of pairs previously. They look fab, esp teamed with her long maxi dresses.

sherby · 12/04/2010 15:54

I have white/pink swirly ones

The 15 yr old shop girl did this when I bought them

sherby · 12/04/2010 15:55

they are much better than those awful stack-heeled trainers that supposedly tone up your arse which seem to be all the rage around here with the mums

orangina · 12/04/2010 16:05

Yes Sherby, those are GRIM. And why is it that I think they look even worse when worn by a man? (The MBTs, not the converse.....)

ShadeofViolet · 12/04/2010 16:06

I have these and I love them

pointydog · 12/04/2010 16:14

i like them too, violet

kickassangel · 12/04/2010 16:20

def not 'mom uniform' here in the midwest US

I want to do this

i wear converse & gets comments about how cool i am, so different but practical.

however, the modern 'fashion' ones don't last as well as the classic red one i had as a teen.

SuSylvester · 12/04/2010 16:26

ha
what is mom uniform in the mid west?

justallovertheplace · 12/04/2010 17:42

Gawd, I followed the link to the boden ones and found this What on earth has happened to that womans legs????

NoahAndTheWhale · 12/04/2010 17:47

I have some pink ones with embroidered flowers. Bought them inbetween children so as DD is nearly 5 must have been a while ago. Only problem is that my feet have really grown a bit so could do with a slightly bigger pair. Think I may well get some more some time...

noddyholder · 12/04/2010 17:52

I like in white or navy.I have superdry striped ones but they aren't as comfy as converse.

birdsandblossoms · 12/04/2010 17:56

i have the ox blood Red ones they hurt my wee toes but i wear them with my 1000 mile socks which are fantastic , also have the Boden satin pimsolls in Blue and Brown i think they are all lovely not many people around here seem to wear them

APassionateWoman · 12/04/2010 17:58

Hate them. So uncomfortable and make me feel instantly like a student. I admit to harbouring a secret snobbery about them, too. They are definitely wrong on the over 40s.

birdsandblossoms · 12/04/2010 18:00

well i am 46 nearly 47 as i dont feel too old for them i feel young and hopeful

hana · 12/04/2010 18:01

have been wearing converse and birks long before they were the uniform for mums in everywhere land.
