Does anyone else remove all their pubic hair?

OK a strange question but does anyone else do this? I've never seen the point of shaving things into a neat triangle when you can just whip the whole lot off in a couple of minutes. But I DO get stared at in changing rooms (or I might be paranoid).

Also I felt self-conscious giving birth with no pubic hair in case the midwives thought I'd read some 1940's manual on giving birth which recommended this.

Is it unusual?

I left it for a week or two before having jess so the mw didtn think i was weird!

morningpaper · 01/07/2005 09:17

Haha glad it's just me!

I now have to lift my bump up and do it with the use of mirrors.

Life's too short

Lonelymum · 01/07/2005 09:43

Doesn't it make you feel vaguely pre-pubescent though?

mummycan · 01/07/2005 09:43

Wax or shave? I would love for it all to be off but waxing hurts too much and shaving gives me a rash and itches

snafu · 01/07/2005 09:43

I have done, but usually at someone else's behest, iyswim... It's the grow-back that gets me - yeeesh.

elsmommy · 01/07/2005 09:43

I do it

compo · 01/07/2005 09:45

it would take more than a couple of minutes to whip all mine off sadly!!!!

lunachic · 01/07/2005 09:46

im a baldie too (when the urge takes me) its worth the itch cause dp loves it !!

oatcake · 01/07/2005 09:48

dh does mine, although he does prefer a 'landing strip'.

personally, and this is very personal, it makes me feel cleaner.

morningpaper · 01/07/2005 09:54

Oakcake I agree, I always feel much cleaner. I always feel a bit grubby with pubic hair or armpit hair.

Soupdragon: I think life's too short to trim it into a neat TRIANGLE! What's that all about?

I just use a ladyshave; never had a problem with itching or anything.

I would feel pre-pubescent but my big fat Lady Thighs put a stop to those kind of fantasties...

oh girls, id love to do this. dh would love it too!

give me some tips - what do you use

Lonelymum · 01/07/2005 09:58

Don't take this the wrong way MP, but do you think you are not very sensitive down there? I am not interested in being clean shaven but I would like to remove the hair that goes half way down my thighs () without having to endure the agony of it growing back. My skin goes all spotty and it is incredibly itchy. (Why am I confessing this?) Do you really not get these problems? Or do you think the Ladyshave is the answer? (I just use a razor).

bonniej · 01/07/2005 09:59

yes, how do you get a clean finish without waxing? Mine would be like a brillo pad if I shaved it all off!!

nailpolish · 01/07/2005 10:01

lm, have you tried waxing? if your skin is sensitive then i would advise you to go to a prefessional. after a while the hairs should stop growing so quickly. it is not too dear, im £5 for a wax

would love to do it myself though

puska · 01/07/2005 10:04

oooh me - hand help up high!

Waxed - everthing, under carriage n all! sorry if tmi!

morningpaper · 01/07/2005 10:05

Hehe actually I do have sensitive skin generally, and I don't use a razor because I get ingrowing stubble which IS itchy. But I've never had that problem with the ladyshave - I just use a bit of talc and then whip it all off.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 01/07/2005 10:06

puska, what do you ask for? and do all beauty therapists do it? im worried that i ask for the whole lot off and i get kicked out! (or do you do it yourself)

morningpaper · 01/07/2005 10:06

I tried waxing but it was TOOOO painful and I found I got a lot of ingrowing regrowth.

OP posts:
morningpaper · 01/07/2005 10:06

I would sooner walk over hot coals bare foot than go into a beauty parlour and ask them to wax my privates! Sorry, that is just not me! But dh often talks about buying me a ladyshave and I wondered if that was the answer.

nailpolish · 01/07/2005 10:07

see, i really like waxing, but i only get a short back and sides, want the whole lot off!

nailpolish · 01/07/2005 10:08

lm, they do and see it all the time. be brave! and you get to lie down for 10 mins...

Lonelymum · 01/07/2005 10:09

No no no no no no no!
