Does anyone else remove all their pubic hair?

OK a strange question but does anyone else do this? I've never seen the point of shaving things into a neat triangle when you can just whip the whole lot off in a couple of minutes. But I DO get stared at in changing rooms (or I might be paranoid).

Also I felt self-conscious giving birth with no pubic hair in case the midwives thought I'd read some 1940's manual on giving birth which recommended this.

Is it unusual?

Friday's Style question.

Landing strip for me ATM...but have gone total on several occassions.

yoyo · 01/07/2005 10:16

Giraffeski - do you have shares in VEET?!!

jayzmummy · 01/07/2005 10:17

I use veet and it doesnt leave rash and no ingrowing hairs either.

puska · 01/07/2005 10:20

ooh go for it nailpolish - ask for a brazilian.

triceratops · 01/07/2005 10:21

Each to their own. But I wouldn't. I think my hair looks nice whereas when I am bald I look like a plucked turkey. I have no problems with feeling unclean. It depends on what your partner likes as well and mine likes a woman to look like a woman as he puts it.

morningpaper · 01/07/2005 10:25

Yeah RIGHT Trice, I'm sure he'd stick to that line if you let your legs/armpit/tash grow into gorilla hairs ...

i take all mine off. Noone sees it anymore, but it just make me feel better about myself for some reason. I always hated having loads of hair, ever since i started geting i was always wanting to get rid of the bloody stuff. I don;t do it all the time now though - it;s just too much like hard work, with a bump in the way and nooone to do it for me. It's not too bad when it's a bout a weeks work, quite nice and neat actually.

I can't see mw's being that conscious of what they're seeing after all think how many they must have seen anyway! my mums friend is an mw and was telling us a story: "One valentines day evening she was on duty and someone came in about 6cms dialated. Her husband was waiting for her at a restaurant and her next door neighbour bought her in. She and her dh were planning a really passionate evening before little one was born. She shave her pubic hair into a heart for him."

Bit long winded but i thought it was cute!

nailpolish · 01/07/2005 10:27

i still have vouchers for the beauty place from my birthday!

i dont want a brazilian, (isnt that with a landing strip?) i want it all off! (isnt that a hollywood?)

although im not asking for that, shell think im nuts. when she says "how much off today" ill just close my eyes and say "whip it all off"

cant wait to tell dh

vickiyumyum · 01/07/2005 10:29

personally i prefer the hair free especially in the summer months, feels much cleaner (sorry if too much info).
i use a remington bikini line thing and veet, but you can't veet too far down iyswim as i find it stings, so have to resort to razor/lady shave there!
i do it for myself, although i have to admit it has its advantages with dh!

mummycan · 01/07/2005 10:30

I bit of a delicate question but what about the hairs on the "lips" - they must be agony to come out or are you just desensitised after a while

mummycan · 01/07/2005 10:31

ok those of you who ladyshave - how often? Everyday? I'm a bit on the hirsute side so can't see it lasting longer than a day with a ladyshave

oatcake · 01/07/2005 10:31

nailpolish! You're back! Another topic we can talk about when we eventually meet!

vickiyumyum · 01/07/2005 10:31

i'm sure that i speak for most midwives when i say, we couldn't really care less about what shape your pubic hair is, once you've seen a few they don't stick in your memory, as long as it not long enough to plait!!

morningpaper · 01/07/2005 10:33

mummycan: I do it once a week

It does grow but just to a sort of skin-head look

vickiyumyum · 01/07/2005 10:33

if you shave i would say every 3-4 days or else regrowth can be uncomfortable, if you are of the more hairy variety then waxing or veet prob better for you as regrowth is slower and hairs finer so not so prickly!

nailpolish · 01/07/2005 10:33

Which Veet kit would you recommend? - had a quick look at them yesterday but ended up dizzy with the choice!
