god knows

MamaHobgoblin · 18/07/2009 21:43

HotToastAndButter, how long is your hair? I've got longish hair - couple inches below my shoulders - and rubbish layers at the moment, and I'm getting the cat-dragged-through-hedge look. But don't want to cut my hair, I'm trying to grow it.

monkeysmama · 19/07/2009 20:23

So I tried it today. Bought a thing from Boots for a tenner with 4 or 5 differnt size rollers. Half dried hair, sprayed hair with lots of hairspray, put about 10 rollers in but they didn't really stay in.

My hair is about 3.5 inches below shoulder length which maybe why. I then tried sticking some random rollers in my the roots but half hour later they'd all almost fallen out and my hair didn't look great. Ended up blow drying it. Any ideas what I did wrong or does it just not work for longer hair?

TIA
MM

SweinFeld · 20/07/2009 14:57

Hair is shoulder lenght with layers in.

mm your is too long to be done in this I think

nappyaddict · 22/07/2009 14:52

Does it work with hair longer hair?

CMOTdibbler · 22/07/2009 15:03

I have very long hair, and I used to do it in velcro rollers. Secret is to really push them hard at the scalp.

I have an urge to buy some new rollers now !

nappyaddict · 22/07/2009 15:09

With longer hair though is it possibly to make it just bouncy rather than curly or wavy?

PinkPussyCat · 22/07/2009 15:20

I was just looking in to buying some of these!

I have shoulder length hair with lots of layers, what size/diameter should I go for?

CMOTdibbler · 22/07/2009 15:20

Yes, if you use really big rollers (I've just bought 80mm ones on ebay), it is bouncy and lovely.

The smaller the roller, the more wavy it will be

PinkPussyCat · 22/07/2009 15:20

looking into

PinkPussyCat · 22/07/2009 15:23

Thanks cmot, was just looking at some 70mm ones on there and they seemed huge, but it's bounce I'm after rather than curls, so that sounds about right...

CMOTdibbler · 22/07/2009 15:24

If you have shoulder length hair, they may be a bit big so won't grip in well. 50mm may be better

PinkPussyCat · 22/07/2009 15:27

Oh ok

VelvetPlum · 22/07/2009 15:28

Boots have Denman large rollers 4pack for 2.60. their own brand ones are 6.50.

nappyaddict · 22/07/2009 16:35

Flibberty you use the 3 inch ones which are quite big. How long is your hair?

BadgersArse · 24/07/2009 10:33

here we are.
can i reiterate oyu need BIG mother f88ckers,...

ItsAllaBitNoisy · 24/07/2009 14:11

Use a pin for really long hair to hold them in.

MamaG · 27/07/2009 09:34

I got some 3for 99p from a "bargain home" type shop

They are BIG mofos

I thought the end result was ok, not amazing, felt a bit of a twat, saw a rl mate and she Didn't Comment On My Hair which = I looked shit I think.

I don't like having hairspray on either

BadgersArse · 27/07/2009 12:08

I saw someone on the TRAIN yesterday wearing rollers (under natty scarf) but she took them off halfway through the journey. She also did a good catsbum face.

I was thinking: MNer.

brimfull · 27/07/2009 15:00
