Aren't M&S clothes shite at the moment?

Going to a party tomorrow. I have something to wear, but ended up with a couple of hours spare and decided to go and shop for something new. Nearest place with easy parking is a big M&S.

My God, how dreary are their clothes?! Shitey McShite of Shitesville.

Who buys all that stuff?

I was so disappointed not to be able to spend any money. I went round twice, in disbelief, convinced I must have missed all the nice stuff.

Hmm. I would have to see it to believe it

janeite · 12/07/2009 18:23

Is there such a thing as a website which shows you the colours? I think I am a deep winter but I can't remember what that actually means.

DarrellRivers · 12/07/2009 18:25

Is there a cheapskate way of doing it? and so avoiding scary type ladies

EldonAve · 12/07/2009 18:25

Or is there a book?

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 18:27

I think you just need to buy chiffon scarves in a spectrum of colours and drape them round your neck waiting for your face to come alive!

Babbity · 12/07/2009 18:27

The lady who did mine was really young - in her mid twenties, and had trained at art school and in graphic design. I used House of Colour - she ws very stylish in an understated way, and there wasn't a scarf or a dodgy lippy in sight.

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 18:39

There is more to it than just colours - for me everything is tonal and soft so you can see how diffo colours would go together, I notice now even come denims suit me more ( and go with more) than others.

Thats why black trousers are no good for me as i need colours that tone not contrast ( liek say swedes might)
My sister got it done cheaply at the HOC hq ( in guess where - Guildford iirc) as a guinea pig for trainees

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 18:40

I am a ricki Lake alike
but a few lbs lighter

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 18:41

my colouring but I have green eyes

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 20:07

There's never anyone with my colouring in the examples in books. I am dark of hair, blue of eye and pinky of skin. Avec freckles.

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 20:12

oh - kind of sterotypically Irish?
My mate i went with is pale with dark hair
in her worst moment she was compared to that frigging cruise woman Jane mcdonald.
SHe ended up being a winter

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 20:13

hahah
on the website she is orange obv

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 20:14

I am in no way a Jane Macdonald. Hmm, I am Irish I suppose..in those books dark haired gals always have dark eyes too. And the blue eyed gals are ginger or blonde. I am unusual?

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 20:15

no blue eyes and dark hair I alwasy think of as Irish, spec wiht pale skin.

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 20:15

i just googled dark hair blue eyes and this poppet appeared, aww

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 20:16

that aint no poppet

DarrellRivers · 12/07/2009 20:16

my colouring young juliette lewis
Now interestingly there is a HOC lady nearby, maybe I should persuade my sister and mum that this would be an ideal beauty activity for us to do together.
Although it would seem she is looking for someone to take over her business

EachPeachPearMum · 12/07/2009 20:17

weird... I always imagined you with pale skin, and lighter hair... in a shortish crop... more like this

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 20:17

omg read all this

DarrellRivers · 12/07/2009 20:18

I think I would feel pretty crap about myself if I got described as a Jane Mcdonald type really

EachPeachPearMum · 12/07/2009 20:18

blast- that was to lilyallen...
Is it true btw- she has a 3rd nipple?

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 20:19

here is cmb anyway

reducedfatkettlechip · 12/07/2009 20:19

Ooh I thought it was just me with the black problem as it seems to look so good on other people. It totally drains me and I can only wear a black top if I have a tan, wear a contrasting scarf next to my skin, or with lots of slap in the evening. Similar with beige which looks horrific and I avoid.

Want my colours done now!

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 20:20

oh please precis it for me I have a headache

Swedes · 12/07/2009 20:22

mrsmadaimess - I have dark hair and blue eyes and freckly skin that is definitely not olive tinged.
