Aren't M&S clothes shite at the moment?

Going to a party tomorrow. I have something to wear, but ended up with a couple of hours spare and decided to go and shop for something new. Nearest place with easy parking is a big M&S.

My God, how dreary are their clothes?! Shitey McShite of Shitesville.

Who buys all that stuff?

I was so disappointed not to be able to spend any money. I went round twice, in disbelief, convinced I must have missed all the nice stuff.

mrs m
if you are interested and have the ££ go and give it a whirl - a lot depends on how much you like the person doing it so choose carefully.
I was so NOT sure abotu my colours but then I had all sorts of flashbacks to " oh yes well i did once have a maroon scarf that made me look nice one winter" etc and it all made sense.

Ditto baby blue andpale pink - can also wear. and icey limes etc

ref Jayne macdonald

yes it sends her into deep deep dispair ( its onyl facially - she has a long face)
we all tell her that she has good sea legs

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 20:24

Swedes have you had yours done...if so what will work. I like teal blue...purple...grey...I feel old in Brown. I hate yellow. Ringing any bells?

Swedes · 12/07/2009 20:26

Mrsmadaimess - You sound as though you are a clear winter like me. Do you look lovely in turquoise and fuschia pink?

LilyAllensThirdNipple · 12/07/2009 20:27

no you cant do it like that cheapskate.
what you like or hate is irrelevant

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 20:27

I have none!

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 20:29

I would not wear bright yellow if you paid me.

Swedes · 12/07/2009 20:29

I look nice in teal and purple too. I look like a turd in brown.

mrsmaidamess · 12/07/2009 20:30

And I would not wear a colour I did not like just because some woman told me it was in my pallette.

Swedes · 12/07/2009 20:38

mrsmadaimess - None of the colours is compulsory.

Courtney Cox (Monica in Friends) is a clear winter with dark hair and blue eyes.

policywonk · 12/07/2009 20:45

What am I do you reckon, Swedes? I wear fresh blues and greens all the time, just cos I like 'em.

Babbity · 12/07/2009 20:47

I am a "winter"/"cool and clear".

I have ash brown hair, blue eyes, fair complexion with rosy cheeks.

I love "my colours" and rarely wear anything else. The advantage in mostly buying from one pallete is that everything goes with everything else now.

I mostly wear black, but also royal blue, bright red (pink tinged - sort of raspberry rather than orange), fuschia pink, true purple/ plum, emerald green, charcoal grey, and white. My jeans are all dark navy or brighter blue. Jewellery is silver and enamel/jewels in "my" colours. Apparently I can also wear very pale ice colours (more white than pastels) but they're quite hard to find. I supposedly can also wear a small amount of pale yellow, but I don't like it so I don't. I would say from that link I probably focus on about a third to half of those colours. I don't wear the lighter more turquoisey blues as I don't like them so much; same with the dark purples/ forest green/ navy.

I don't find it limiting; the opposite in fact. I shop very quickly now - I can sweep a room with my eyes and go towards the colours I like/ know that I suit.

Prior to having my colours done I was a bit aimless and had started copying a (v stylish) friend's style - she wore loads of taupe/ pale grey/ mid blue denim jeans/ muted colours - and I couldn't work out why I looked old and washed out. Now although I'm by no means confident (more because of my size than anything else) if I'm feeling unsure, I know that at the very least I am not going to look washed out and old in colours that don't suit me, and my jewellery box is fab - I have lots of jewellery I've collected over the years in my basic colours, so I can mix and match really well.

Swedes · 12/07/2009 21:02

policywonk · 12/07/2009 21:40

Thanks Swedes. But bleurgh to the palette - it's the 1970s (brown, red and orange). Will continue to pretend that I'm a winter, I think.

Quattrocento · 12/07/2009 21:43

Pointy

Yellow is MY colour. Bright bright yellow. I love it. Don't tell me that no-one can wear yellow. I can and do.

Swedes · 12/07/2009 21:45
