have been looking at sdome for this summer in a hope to stop my feet smelling like a cheese counter. but are they as uncomfortable as i remember as a kid? can anyone recommend some? even just some plain ones, or some good funky looking ones.

(i dont care if its out of style btw, i need some!!)

i remeber flip flops really rubbing between my toes when i was younger, but i wear them all the time in the summer thtese days and don't seem to have that problem anymore.
i've brought mine from lots of different places, but my favourites are by camper from jones the bootmaker. my other favourites are from priceless shoes (loads of different pairs all less than £10), new look about £10.

next do some good ones too, you can see them on line (sorry i'm useless at links)

There's some lovely ones on ebay, Misdee - I keep looking at them cos we have no shoe shops round here. As for comfort - I think they are better than they used to be, particularly those with the little plastic tube around the bit that goes between your toes

misdee · 15/05/2005 16:07

oh word, the bit between the toes used to kill. may go buy a pair and see how i get on then.

i find the ones with the little plastic tube around the toe post the ones that rub! the others are fine.
you may just need to experiment and see which ones work for you.
sorry to be awkward

happymerryberries · 15/05/2005 16:18

They always used to make the bit between my toes very sore and bleed.

Dare I admit this?

I have Dr Sholl (sp) sandels and they are so comfortable!

hoxtonchick · 15/05/2005 17:08

get birkenstocks instead!

Chandra · 15/05/2005 17:18

I got a wonderful pair from Nine West some years ago and still can't find another one that emulate how comfortable those were... I believe the secret is to find a pair that fits tight against the feet, if the sandal is not very loose you don't get so much rubbing between the toes.

I had a wonderful pair from Gap a few years back which had a cotton coating. Really comfortable with no wearing in required. Have just bought another pair from them with a strap round the ankle so half sandle. I am in love with them.

These are my new passion: Gap sandals/flip flops

That's interesting, I have never worn them as an adult as I always assumed they would be as agonising as they were when I was a kid! Meanwhile I have just ordered some of these Birkenstocks and will report back

happymerryberries · 15/05/2005 17:39

Ohh they look nice!

I always thought that birkentocks were a bit, 'knit your own musli'(ripe coming from someone who admits to wearing scholls!!!

tamum · 15/05/2005 17:54

Tasteful and nicely themed Susannah and Trinny would be in awe.

hub2dee · 15/05/2005 17:56

Birks over here. One pair will last years.

tamum · 15/05/2005 18:06

but we're laydeez- one pair lasting for years isn't really your major selling point

hoxtonchick · 15/05/2005 18:07

lol tamum. i find i need at least one new pair of birks a year....

motherinferior · 15/05/2005 18:12
