have been looking at sdome for this summer in a hope to stop my feet smelling like a cheese counter. but are they as uncomfortable as i remember as a kid? can anyone recommend some? even just some plain ones, or some good funky looking ones.

(i dont care if its out of style btw, i need some!!)

I absolutely love flipflops of all kinds and at all prices. However, by FAR the most comfortable come from Lands End, are made of suede and have a gel pod in the heel which makes them sublimely bouncy and addictively yielding to the foot. Yes, I know, Lands End is NOT a funky company, but I have sold my Jimmy Choos on Ebay and am in thrall to Comfy Shoes and these are damned Comfy. And in emerald green suede, rather attractive too, in a Comfy sort of way.

these, Aloha?

vickiyumyum · 18/05/2005 19:24

must stop looking at this thread its costing me too much money. i brought the reef flipflops from bubblerocks link and now i couldn't resist the pink ones from per una so have ordered those too!
i'm looking for wedges as well and have just seen some in my magazine from primark for £8, so off to town tomorrow on my day off!

tamum · 18/05/2005 19:27

aloha, I always imagine you in high heels for some reason, that's just destroyed the illusion

Maybe we could all get some of the marthamoo/champs flowery ones to wear as a secret MN sign? (I need an excuse....)

aloha · 18/05/2005 20:23

Oh, God no Marthamoo! What do you take me for? Those are positively scary.
The ones I meant are the Lightweight Thong (what ghastly terminology these mid-Westerners use). Which, though not the footwear of sex-bombs in the manner of Marilyn Monroe, are more acceptable.

Ah, high heels....the golden days of yore...
I look at them sometimes and laugh, hollowly.

bran · 18/05/2005 20:28

These ones aloha?

aloha · 18/05/2005 20:38

Yes, but in a solid emerald green. Even dh thinks they are quite nice and oooh, they are Comfy.

bran · 18/05/2005 20:39

They look very sporty aloha, I really fancy a pair of toe-loop sandals, but the ones they have on Lands End are hideous colours.

aloha · 18/05/2005 20:41

Sporty? Oh dear.
They don't look very sporty on me, I have to say.

bran · 18/05/2005 20:42

Don't you have a tan and perfectly pedicured toes like the model in the picture? Surely you spend most of the time that you're wearing them frolicing on the beach?

motherinferior · 18/05/2005 20:44

I am still sniggering childishly at the Lightweight Thong.

MrsDoolittle · 18/05/2005 20:44

I have decided I am stuffed because I don't like flip flops. One looks soooo undressed. I hate to see so much of anyones feet, particularly my own.

Urghhhhh feet, I hate feet.

bran · 18/05/2005 20:47

I agree about the ugly feet thing, but even though my feet aren't things of beauty I love the convenience of slip-on sandals, especially as I am so disorganised that I can never find a matching pair of socks. Perhaps when I lose enough weight to have a clear view of my feet at all times I will change my mind and go back to closed shoes in summer.

SleepyJess · 18/05/2005 20:48

My Hushpuppy flip flops are lovely and comfortable... they were £40 .. but bought them with my catalogue commission so were "free"... sorta!

MrsDoolittle · 18/05/2005 20:48

And so many people wearing them have cracked heels and fungal infections!!!

aloha · 18/05/2005 20:49

I do actually have a pedicure!

aloha · 18/05/2005 20:49

I do actually have a pedicure!

SleepyJess · 18/05/2005 20:49

Ewww!

MrsDoolittle · 18/05/2005 20:50

Well that's reassured me aloha
Who can make sure evryone does?

Anyone?

Noone?

MrsDoolittle · 18/05/2005 20:58

So who's the thread killer now?

bran · 18/05/2005 21:00

The thread isn't dead, we just need time to get over the nausea caused by your reference to cracked heels and fungal infections.

MrsDoolittle · 18/05/2005 21:11

Not forgetting the brown stuff between the toes, and dirty toe nails....Oh there's more

bunny2 · 18/05/2005 21:13

MrsD, I have a fungal infection on my big toe and I wear flipflops! I also have cracked heels but I am trying hard to remedy both!

For special occasions I stick a false toenail over the fungusy one!

MrsDoolittle · 18/05/2005 21:14

Oh don't bunny!

I'm coming over all funny.

SleepyJess · 18/05/2005 21:14

"Brown stuff between toes"??!!! What would that be then? Surely only someone with a foot fetish would check between someones toes???!!!
