i second/third the birkenstock theme as well i've got some lovely pink ones that just have one strap with the buckle, that colleen (wayne rooneys girlfriend) was wearing in the papers today (although maybe that should put me off!!!!), they come in about thirty different colours and patterns and are really comfortable
they are really cheap here birkinstock
fingers crossed my link worked!

My mother has a complete shoe fetish, at least 75 pairs, but lives in FF. you can always here her coming and stop doing what you shouldn't be doing. GOD I do not sound 31

She says - I think she is probably the oracle on all thing flip floppy - platic between the toes are a nightmare - coz your feet sweat, and leather between the toes is the best coz it shpes to your feet.

kalex · 15/05/2005 20:05

And I would love a pair of birkenstocks, but radio 4 is already my listening preference, and I fear for my sanity if I take the next step into Middleade

Please tell me I will still be the same street cred mum I want to be if I sucumb

Enid · 15/05/2005 20:06

have just ordered a silver pair

misdee · 15/05/2005 20:07

so a good pair of flips flops must be leather between the toes? might get a pair of birkenstocks as well.

lou33 · 15/05/2005 20:11

my flip flops are red rubber and cost 33p!

hub2dee · 15/05/2005 20:22

Will you use them as a smelly paddle when they fall apart, Lou ?

hub2dee · 15/05/2005 20:23

Someone might pay extra for the whiff, IYSWIM.

MarsLady · 15/05/2005 20:24

yes!

lou33 · 15/05/2005 20:27

ha!

hub2dee · 15/05/2005 20:37

Well, you haven't denied it.

Delicate imprint of your plates in the rubber, turned to face down, of course.

Flip flops give me the heeby jeebies. Nasty 'between the toes' sensation. Birks rule. Wear them all year.

I would not recommend them, however, for camel rides as you need to put your toes into 'monkey grip' mode for fear of losing the shoes as they float around. Trust me, it's not nice.

misdee · 15/05/2005 20:40

not likely to go near a camel

hub2dee · 15/05/2005 20:49

We had a camel ride on our honeymoon. Was great fun and fabuloulsy uncomfortable. It was in Petra, Jordan. We'd been in Israel for our wedding as dw's granny was too ill to travel and they were very close, so we had it there. (Plus it was warm, and outdoors and cheaper than the UK, and made a massive holiday for all).

It's just like a donkey only slightly higher misdee.

WigWamBam · 15/05/2005 21:06

Slightly higher, slightly more wobbly, and slightly more likely to give you whiplash when it stands up, you mean, H2D ...
