This one

Do you think this will date quickly? Thanks

Purple - It has a hinged coin purse bit with two compartments, and then there is an openey out bit with space for your credit cards, and two long slots for notes and receipts.

There's also a small pocket inside for stamps and a pocket on the back for my other cards that don't fit inside.

I also have a DKNY card wallet with other cards in that I hardly ever use but might need occasionally like DD's gym membership and my oyster card (don't live in london any more just visit)

mrspnut · 25/04/2009 19:52

They are really sturdy and solid. My bobbles are gold coloured but they are solid metal - no possible chance of breaking it.

pottycock · 25/04/2009 19:53

I show her work in our gallery mrsmaidamess - she's based in inverness I think. I love her stuff, the quality of it is wonderful. The brighter things ain't my taste but I drool over the lovely brown leather pieces.

2Eliza2 · 25/04/2009 20:00

I bought a Mulberry purse from Ebay (nearly new) and it makes me happy every time I take it out. It has something solid and classic about it.

JulesJules · 25/04/2009 20:08

OP - well done for your hard work, you should be entitled to treat yourself to whatever you like without a hundred judgey pants jumping on the thread (and taking it onto other threads - very rude).

I think a beautiful purse is a great idea. I don't personally like the zips on that design and would either go for something a bit more classic looking, or (other extreme) something one off and unusual. Anyway, enjoy it!

minko · 25/04/2009 20:13

Um, I have a leather purse I bought in Oasis nearly ten years ago for about £20 and it's still great. So you can't justify it by how long it might last. It's just got to be stunning!

Zembo · 25/04/2009 20:13

Picante - exclusively expressing for one year is AMAZING!!!! anyway back on topic - I will start my search again I think as although I like this purse, its not classic enough x

Zembo · 25/04/2009 20:14

Minko I agree, its a stunning, classic purse with longevity that I'm after - 'one life, one purse' is what I'm aspiring to

pottycock · 25/04/2009 20:15

My top tip is avoid anything with zips and go for something leather, brown and big. Happy shopping!

pointydog · 25/04/2009 20:34

pnut, I love that purse. Might get myself a ted baker one

CHOOGIRL · 25/04/2009 20:36

Agree with Pagwatch if you like the purse then buy it. I have a Louis Vuitton that cost about the same as the Mulberry and I have used it almost every day for about 10 years.

Mulberry's generally don't date - the Mabel has already been around for a few years and is still selling well.

If you are going to look again then try the Maggie which has lots of separate compartments. The website doesn't really do it justice.

stroppyknickers · 25/04/2009 20:36

just had a look - did you buy it - really don't like the zips either side. Sorry. try Lulu Guinness website or alternative Mulberry. Sorry sorry sorry if you already bought it...

BitOfFun · 25/04/2009 21:24

I apologize for being rude to you- I misinterpreted you I think. I still think you're bonkers for spending so much though...get something lovely but cheaper, then stuff it with your wedge

ThingOne · 25/04/2009 21:50

Mulberry is fantastic quality and you will have it for ages but I agree that the first purse is not a classic style and will date quickly.

Where do you live, Zembo? They have a factory shop in Somerset. It is the nicest factory shop I've ever been in but usually out of my price range .

I like the second mulberry one but then I'm an old git. Ted Baker is nowhere near the same quality.

picklesmama · 25/04/2009 23:03

I quite like it - but it would restrict the size and style of bag you carry I'd say. I don't think it would look right coming out of something sleeker. I like this one myself or some of the patent styles. mm lovely.

Well done on your achievements and enjoy your purse. You are not the only one who would spend that much on a purse, worry not!

Zembo · 26/04/2009 06:57

Thingone I live in the East Midlands so the factory shop would be a bit of a trek.

Its really a mulberry (or equivalent quality) purse that I'm after - I've had a look at some in the mulberry shop in Leeds and they really are gorgeous - look much better than on the website..

What do you think of this crimson one or

this chocolate one

I think I'd like either a brown or bright red purse. Thank you

OP posts:
pottycock · 26/04/2009 07:36

They are both beautiful - I would go for the brown one to suit my taste but the red one is scrummy too.

blametheparents · 26/04/2009 08:46

I really like the chocolate one

Flappythebat · 26/04/2009 09:01

Zembo go for it and enjoy!!

I will hopefully be buying a mulberry handbag soon and the couple that I am considering are almost £700.

It is an obscene amount of money to spend on a handbag but before anyone moans, it is my treat to myself after being in a car crash that has left me with permanent injuries. Have always liked the bags but could never afford one, thanks to my compensation, I now can.

LetThemEatCake · 26/04/2009 09:28

"god how tragic"??????

How tragic that anyone feels the need to be so rude and judgmental. Definitely a big green monster lurking in their Accessorise purse.

OP- absolutely fine to spend that much money on a purse IMO but I have to be honest and say that I don't love the one you linked to.

And you absolutely deserve a treat for expressing, my god I did it once and decided I'd much rather stay with my baby for the next 8 months and feed her myself!

you deserve even more of a treat for being so gracious on thiss thread, I would have definitely barked by page 1!!

enjoy

pagwatch · 26/04/2009 10:13

Anyone really trying to go for a purse for life should ALWAYS buy a really bright colour.

Then when you are a sad old twat like me with failing eye sight you can still imediately spot it in the deep recesses of your handbag without having to find your glasses first. You don't want to be that person in the queue at asda Fortnums
and [sad old git emoticon]

LetThemEatCake · 26/04/2009 10:29

LOL pagwatch, totally agree! My purse is bright turquoise blue and is the only thing that stops me having to dump the contents of my entire bag all over shop floors!

ruddynorah · 26/04/2009 10:41

that mulberry one is just dull.

the ted baker one is gorgeous. i must have it.

LetThemEatCake · 26/04/2009 10:44

"bright turquoise blue"

Doh.

Better have a coffee.

LauriefairycakeeatsCupid · 26/04/2009 11:06

I really like that bright crimson Mulberry one - looks like it could be used as a clutch bag for summer weddings
