frigging awesome!

I used a method from this thread and then something similar to trim the back.
I did have same length below shoulder hair and now it is all layered and light and pretty.
And it took 10 minutes in the kitchen with a brush, hairband and some scissors!

misdee · 17/04/2009 19:16

i'm going to re-do it taking it 2cm shorter or thereabouts 2nite, as my fringe keeps flopping in m,y eyes

noonar · 17/04/2009 19:43

i dont really understand the chopping/ cutting in bit at the end...

cluelessnchaos · 17/04/2009 19:55

i have jsut done it and it looks brilliant, i took off about 25 cm,

Divvy · 17/04/2009 20:01

I may try this on my 14 yo dd, with very curly hair, that even her sister is putting off cutting for her!

noonar · 17/04/2009 20:02

what about the cutting in bit tho?????

Comewhinewithme · 17/04/2009 20:09

I just did dds and she looks great .

SlightlyMadStirrup · 17/04/2009 20:18

ooooo ooooo did you think I will be brave enough after a bottle of wine?

Misdee can you post a recent before pic please so we can see how you started?

TitsalinaBumsquash · 17/04/2009 20:18

I am going to do this with mine, but not tongiht as im a little bit tipsy drunk and i fear i would look silly afterwards. I hate other people touching my hair so it deffo best to do it myeself.

misdee · 17/04/2009 20:20

scary before pic

i was trying out a wrap with dd4.

pippo · 17/04/2009 20:26

how short do we think hair could be for this cut to work? What would happen to hair that already had layers in it?

SlightlyMadStirrup · 17/04/2009 20:28

TY Misdee.....that may be the one that convinces me. My current hairstyle is very similar to yours (except nowhere near as glossy and shiney).

Any idea's how I can do this without the fringe? Do I just leave it longer when I cut it?

Also will this style be easy to care for? I have a very slight wave in my top layer. My bottom layers are quite curly though if I let it dry naturally. I suspect that if I layer it though teh top would go curlier as I would take the weight off it. I could straight though. What do you think?

misdee · 17/04/2009 20:30

if you dont cut it as short then you wont have the fringe.

i did two cuts this morning, first one (10cms) obviously l;onger, but i wasnt keen on the length, it was neither long enough or short enoug, so took another 5cm off.

pippo · 17/04/2009 20:32

SMS if your hair responds to straightening then I think it would work as you would be able to remedy if you wern't happy with look if went a bit more curly. Should think pretty easy to care for.

TheOtherMaryPoppinsDiets · 17/04/2009 20:35

Look at the MN logo ^ one has definitely got this haircut

MerlinsBeard · 17/04/2009 20:36

I was just going to hack at mine this week until i remembered i have something V important to do on Sunday so will do it Monday instead - following the tips on that clip rather than hacking !!!

spicemonster · 17/04/2009 20:38

Ooh I think I might have a go at this. It's not so much the cost (although I do resent it), it's the bloody time! I can never seem to fit a hair cut in (plus I hate going)

noonar · 17/04/2009 20:39

dont think layered hair would work unless you cut it all as short as your shortest layer. i just put mine in a ponytail, and some of my shorter layers were only just past the hair band is, so wouldnt work for me. i'd have to cut off my whole pony tail to reach all my split ends!

MerlinsBeard · 17/04/2009 20:45

the girl on the clip already had layered hair

noonar · 17/04/2009 20:47

yes but the'd need to be long layers, surely. my short layers are level with my hairband, more or less ie they only just go in a pony tail.

SlightlyMadStirrup · 17/04/2009 20:50

Right that's it.

I am on a course next week - so need to wait until after that.

I will have a weeks holiday soon (probably the first week in May). That will be might week.

JackBauer · 17/04/2009 21:23

ChasingSquirrels, I haven't seen any of my cousins for years, I doubt it's me

Victorian Squalor, I did the back of mine, just did a ponytail on the crown of my head and then cut into that in teh same way, worked great. Your pic looks great, did you do the back in that?

Noonar, the cutting in is the bit on teh clip where they point the swcissors into the hair and cut it. I think if your layers only just go into a ponytail then it might not work as well but would get rid of thje longer bits.

Come on! Expat is next for pics, and we still need moommothers pics!

SMS the front of mine hits around my chin so not really a fringe. I did wet a bit of my hair up to the shortest I wanted it before I put it in the ponytail so I knew where to cut it.

No, I haven't done the back yet.
